Italian Village is the home of this luxury Downtown Condo building.
The community that exists within The Jeffrey and Metal Works contain a terrific mélange of many walks of life, cultures, and backgrounds. Many of our residents take pride in their love of the Arts, enjoy time with their pets, appreciate good food and true friends, and take pleasure in endlessly shopping in the eclectic mix of boutiques that exist in the Short North and its environs.
There are frequent impromptu gatherings from sitting in the lobby drinking the free coffee and having an intellectual discussion, to a casual evening where the tenants bring snacks and beverages, watch their favorite sports rivalries, and play a game of pool. On the rooftop, residents may privately bask in the sun’s rays while taking in a full city view, or we may reserve the space for an event that the tenants, their families, and the public may enjoy.
History
Established in 2005.
The building was originally the home of The Jeffrey Mining Company, established in the early 1900’s, it was renowned for its’ innovations in techniques and tools. When the company closed its’ doors at the 1st Ave location in 1999, J Daniel Schmidt saw it as a great opportunity to create a luxury apartment complex at a property so unique and full of history. Many of the original fixtures, beams, doors, crown molding, etc. were preserved and the original hardwood floors restored to maintain the elegant historic elements of the property.
The adjacent science and engineering research lab was later converted to the Jeffrey– Metal Works building with a more industrial vibe noted by stained concrete floors, exposed beams, high ceilings, and natural light.
