Steak ‘n Shake

Generally receive decent service when dining in and drive through, don’t ever order online for pick up, the pick up time is usually 30 mins longer than estimated, ordered online 3 times and received 3 messed up orders. Have witnessed very immature/​offensive scoldings from a manager talking down to an employee.

I was able to download Unilocal while in line on a slow network and yet still have time to write this review. Worst Steak ‘n Shake EVER. I only still go because it’s close to my house. Food is always wrong or cold and takes a minimum of 10 minutes to get.

Garbage, garbage, garbage. Steak and Shake’s quality is all about location and this location is total crap. The food always takes forever when you go inside and is always wrong when you go drive through. The simplest requests like «extra frisco sauce, please,» or «no pickles» are always ignored. The workers seem unhappy and hateful and the attitude is represented in the quality of the cooking. Unfortunately drunk Brendon always seems to forget these truths and/​or thinks that they’ll be better this time around or something. They never get better. This restaurant is shit. Do yourself a favor and drive up the street to Wendy’s.

Service is generally hit or miss but tonight I went in to order carry out. A couple burgers, fries and a couple shakes. I always order mine with no cherry.
I wait a few minutes and food comes, I tell them I ordered two shakes and young lady siad ok and walked off. A few minutes later (food is getting cold) a dirty guy walks up with two shakes, both with cherries. I told him one wasn’t supposed to have a cherry and HE STUCK HIS HAND INTO MY SHAKE TO TRY TO PULL THE CHERRY OUT. Completely disgusted I told him to remake it and he looked like he didn’t understand. He walks back to the back and turns around and tries to hand me the exact shake he put his nasty little fingers in.
Needless to say, I won’t be going back. Who knows what they’re doing where the customer can’t see.

I am a vegetarian so you would not normally catch me dead at a place with steak in their name. I came across steak and shakes menu and was intrigued by their milkshake menu. I love milkshakes and was staying at a hotel across the street so I had to check them out. I went on a Thursday morning and used their drive through. It scored big points that I didn’t have to go inside a stinky hamburger place. I ordered a kids size peanut butter banana shake. I heard that this shake tastes like nutter butter cookies and they sure were right. The kids size I got looked more like a medium or large. I cannot imagine what an adult size looks like. I had the shake for breakfast and it was honestly the tastiest shake I have ever had. It was also super filling and kept me full until lunch. I could taste little cookie pieces in the shake and they were to die for. I also got 2 cookies for 99 cents which were good. I cannot wait to be back in a state that has a steak and shake. They have by far the best shakes. I never thought I would see the day where I rate a hamburger joint 5 stars.

The absolute worse service I have ever had at any restaurant EVER. Avoid this place like the plague. We went at 11:45PM and 4 tables were taken… it still took us 10 minutes to be sat+ 15 minutes at the table with no one helping us. What made it even worse was the 10 people behind us that stood by the front door waiting to be sat and never were sat before we (and 3 other unserved tables) decided to get up and leave. Host turned head to incoming guests, waitress refused to acknowledge any table, buser did not clean over half the tables in the place.
Like I said, I have never had a worse restaurant experience in my life and Steak n Shake really should be embarrassed by this location.

Good food… but just once I’d like to get my shake before my food. Staff is friendly… but almost all high school aged kids trying their best!

Don’t go on a weekend! Kids eat free on weekends… which would be great if the staff could keep up with the orders! We visited on a Sunday afternoon for a late lunch but the restaurant was still crowded. Waited more than 10 minutes for a server. Took over 45 minutes for the food to arrive and when it did, the order was wrong. The grilled chicken was cold… not just from sitting out, but refrigerator-​cold. When we asked for the cheese and bacon that was missing from a bacon cheeseburger, they put on a cold piece of cheese and one strip of bacon. Other tables around us were also having problems with their orders, and several tables that were there when we arrived had still not received their food even when we left. When we were asked if everything was ok, we were honest and said no! The first person who asked us said she would «fix» our order but did nothing. The second server who asked did at least comp us the burger. I just think that if they advertise for kids to eat free and expect a huge crowd, they should be prepared and have plenty of competent kitchen help!

My gosh, the royal burger is awesome! For the longest time I never thought an egg on a burger would be good. Just decided to try it, and I was amazed. I don’t really dine in so I can review the waiters, but when I get to go, I’m in and out really fast.

Never have had a bad experience here at this Steak ‘n Shake. Or any other Steak ‘n Shake. I love the $ 4 menu of course. I am not impressed with the hotdogs at all. I feel some places are just meant for certain foods. I mean I wouldn’t go into IHOP and order a steak or burger because it is a breakfast food place. So I feel ordering anything other than a steak burger and fries is just going out of my way. Fresco melts are fantastic as well.

Walked in, was seated at a table that had a bad spill in the floor, that we had to point out to the manager that Sat us as my husband slid into his seat. We Sat waiting on a server for nearly 10 min and only had someone serve us because we stopped another server walking by. She takes our order beginning with me and took the 4 others sitting at the same table. As the food arrived, mind you no utensils at the table, she comes to the table to deliver our food and didn’t have mine, and tried to give us Fry’s we didn’t order. My husbands 3 way gee ordered came out with cold spaghetti, had sat in the window prior to being served. My daughters salad didn’t have the dressing, and still no forks or napkins, still not good service poor management and we were so disappointed, as we were there I few weeks back at 3am in the morning, guess that’s the best time to go to steak n shake. Best food and service when you come in with drunk friends.

Its a Steak n Shake like any other.

What’s not to like? I wish they would bake the baked beans properly. I wish I could eat this stuff ALL THE TIME and not be fat. It is fun to drink too much then down one of shakes. I like their fries and order too many to keep the grease going via left-​overs the next day. Enough said?
Steak and Shakes are interchangeable. So this is like reviewing a McDonald’s. Pointless unless it is a dirty McD’s (like the one in Nelsonville, OH: GROSS and full of hill jacks). I did go to one Steak and Shake in Richmond, Indiana late one night where the kids running it seemed like they needed some re-​education or were all wasted or something, and one kid loudly told the other kid working there to «Stop being so ornery, you dumb f’r», which was really, really funny at that moment. Of course, when you cross that border west out of OH, people do get a little slower. My opinion.

Steak N Shake is average to me. Nothing makes them stand-​out or stand-​over any other fast food burger joint. Their prices are a bit hefty, similar to Red Robin, but there are some choices, if that justifies the prices? They are conveniently located everywhere, so driving far isn’t an issue.
This location is like the Georgesville Sq location, fairly clean, staff, was alright with me. Experience was normal, nothing really that makes it stand-​out.

Service sucked and the floors were very dirty last time we were there. Food and prices decent though.

Not bad, for a fast food restaurant. Service is always decent; restrooms are always clean (which for a man with kids is a huge plus); food is constant if anything.
The grease will kill you and the milkshakes taste like cold butter + milk.
