Schreiner Ace Hardware

Have only been here twice in a year but both times staff has been very helpful. It’s small-​ish but a great neighborhood hardware store.

Friendliest staff I’ve encountered in a hardware store. With a broken key, they managed to duplicated an identical functional copy. Gotta respect that expertise.

Don’t go here for black iron pipe
Steve is the only one that knows how to run the machine and he would rather make deliveries then do his job
Either they need to train someone else to cut and thread pipe or drive a truck cause right now all they do is eat popcorn and lose sales
I was standing there waiting to get 1 piece of pipe cut with over 200 $ worth of shark bite fittings in hand and Steve decides it would be a good time to take off

I really want to like this place over a chain store but I cannot. In fact if I could give them zero stars I would. I walked in to buy a spray bottle and as usual the girl at the cash counter asked if I needed any help. I said no and that I knew what I was looking for. As I was walking away she got on her portable radio and notified the other employees that I «probably should be watched.» Not sure what vibe I gave her to warrant being watched other than I an just out of college age and maybe I fit the demographic of a thief? Now needless to say I doubt she expected me to hear her but it completely turned me off of buying anything there ever again. I made my purchase solely so they wouldn’t accuse me of stealing something and will never return. Sorry guys but that blatant profiling kinda turns me off of ever being a customer again. I mean for gods sake I was professionally dressed and all i did was refuse the help of your employees because I knew where in the store the product I was looking for was.

I’ve been stopping back here for the last two weeks while I work on replacing an old window in our house, and the employees here have been super helpful. I brought in the window and everything, and they were able to give me advice on fixing it.
Well, I was having some issues, since it was an old wood window, and it turns out that they can repair and install the pane for only $ 10, and the glass itself only costs $ 13.99. What a deal!
I’ve been here several times before, and their prices are great compared to other shops in the area. They also have a pretty large service center to have mowers, tractors, etc. repaired.
The parking lot is pretty tiny, and it can turn into a mess if there’s a lot of people there. I don’t suggest going on Sunday afternoons when I was there, since it was super busy, especially if it’s nice out. Every other day I went was fine. As far as hardware stores go, I highly recommend this Ace.

Horrible store. I waited for over 10 mins so they could find prices to a few items that I had in my cart. With 20 salesmen working the floor you would think they would have had me out of there in mins. Instead they let a few people go in front of me instead. Poor customer service & sales experience.

I went to there today and want to buy some screws for the plate on my car. However, my old screw just got struck on there so that I ask for the help. A employee named Ryan help me. Very friendly and patiently. Definitely will go there again.

If you like supporting neighborhood businesses, this is a great place to live out that philosophy. With a building for traditional hardware sales and a building for small engine repair/​larger equipment, the only problem you’ll find here is parking, as the lot is limited in size.
Knowledgable employees will guide you through this place which is crammed full of old school hardware items. I found, in stock, a metal pipe I needed for an emergency plumbing repair that had not been at the other big box stores. I think this pipe will be in my home for 20+ years like the one it replaced. Nice!
Get keys made, eat free popcorn, and shop knowing they’ll be there to help. And get on their ace hardware barcode plan, as it ends up mailing you useful coupons. Is this place a bit pricier than the big boys? Yes, but you’ll save your soul. That’s what hardware stores are all about.

Ive been here about a dozen times (its close to my office) and its a good store. Always helpful, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Prices are fair and they dont carry any junk like Walmart does. It is small, at least in comparison to the mega-​home improvement stores, but have always had what I needed, at least on some level.
Im a fan.

Earlier this week, brand new to Columbus, I paid a visit to this location because I needed a three-​way light bulb for a newly-​purchased lamp. I arrived with my father shortly after the store opened for the day.
I tend to be a quick shopper, so I appreciated the sales associate who helped me find exactly what I was looking for right away. Very friendly, no attempts to sell me things I didn’t want and no wasting of my time. I appreciate that from a business, and I will return to this store the next time I need to make a purchase.

Neighborhood hardware store that is well stocked. They also have a great staff who are very helpful– whether it is my handy husband who has a complicated challenge about which he is seeking suggestions (he also enjoys the bags of fresh popcorn they hand out) or me (and they don’t make me feel silly asking). They also have propane and an extensive rental and service department.

When you don’t need the selection of a big box store, this place offers great customer service you won’t find anywhere else.

For as small of a store as this is, I was blown away! I went to both Home Depot and Lowe’s to get a garage key made and they said they couldn’t. ACE was able to do the key within a couple minutes! The staff has been extremely helpful every time I have been in the store trying to pick up items for fixes I wasn’t too sure how to perform. And… they have free popcorn!

Kind of small but I don’t have big need so it could be an issue for more serious hardware guys. I always find what I am looking for and there are plenty of people to help. In an adjacent building in the same small parking lot they have a service and rental center. I have not used this but it seems like it would be helpful.

I think most of these ACE Hardware stores are similar. This one’s especially good. There’s always someone there to help you find that odd bolt or hinge. But, they don’t pounce on you if you want to browse. Very friendly and unusually competent staff.
It easily became my hardware of choice between two equidistant H’ware stores here in Grandview (has more stuff, more consistently than the one on Goodale.

Helpful place, good for nuts bolts and screws
Ace does a great job at services its customers. As soon as I come in I am always greeted, most times someone is there asking what i’m looking for to tell me the proper aisle to go to. The stores are small, they don’t have as much stuff as Lowes or Home Depot. But it is great for hardware and products you need a specific amount of like nuts, bolts, and specialty screws.

The first time I walked in, I was thrown by the eager to help staff. Actually, I was kinda put off. I think that’s more on me than them. You see, I’ve become accustomed having to hunt down the staff in stores when I need help. They aren’t just waiting there and wanting to help you. It’s become commonplace for me to hunt for what I want. People don’t go out of there way to offer help anymore… unless you are at this Ace.
Now that I’ve been in several times (oh the joys of living in one of Grandviews old townhouses) and gotten over my initial shock at the polite, eager to help staff, I love it. Need hard wall hangers? They’ll show you exactly where they are. Trying to find the best paint option to touch up the bathroom? Here it is! Figuring out what the best putty to repair traditional plaster walls? They’ll point you there too. Makes my trips to the hardware store soooo much faster than they ever used to be.

I’ve been a customer of this store for 13 years since I moved into the German Village area. While its great to have a local hardware store, the prices have become so outrageous I can no longer afford to shop here.
For example, the same size bag of pet-​friendly ice melt that I just purchased there today for $ 27.99 costs only $ 9.99 at a competitor about a mile down the road. I can understand a slightly higher price and would consider that worth the convenience factor but almost triple the price is blatant price-​gouging.
I no longer consider myself a customer of Schreiner Ace Hardware.

With a «We Love Unilocal» sticker on the door, you expect more. No exception from Schreiner. Immedately greeted by a nice woman, she asked what I needed. A key. No need to take it off the ring, she says. She told me there’s a 100% money back guarantee if it doesn’t work, and thanked me for my business. A level of service you just don’t get from places like Menards and Lowes.

The perfect neighborhood alternative to Lowes or Home Depot! They have a decent selection of home improvement needs and a more diverse selection than the larger box stores with more variety in product selection and options that you won’t find at Lowes and Home Depot.
What sets them apart is service. They have excellent customer service. You never have to search or ring for someone to help you while waiting helplessly at an empty desk. They seem to have a sixth sense that you need help and rescue you before you even need to ask.
I highly recommend this Ace to everyone in the Grandview/​Arlington/​Campus area. I think that their prices may be a smidgen higher, but it’s worth it for the improved shopping experience!
