The Columbus School of Practical Nursing, a non-profit school, specializes in providing excellent Practical Nursing Education at the lowest possible cost. For 63 years, we have been providing healthcare providers all over central Ohio with quality Practical Nursing staff.
History
Established in 1953.
From 1926 to the present, adult education has been in place in Columbus, Ohio. In 1966 the Columbus Board of Education (BOE) officially approved the recommendation that a Department of Adult Education be created.
On January 4, 1954, the Columbus School of Practical Nursing graduated its first Practical Nursing class. The Columbus Board of Education assumed full responsibility for the school in 1959 under Ohio Department of Vocational Education standards.
In 2016, the school marked its 63rd anniversary. The Columbus School of Practical Nursing is part of the Columbus City Schools’ Department of Adult and Community Education and is nationally accredited by the Council on Occupational Education (COE). The school meets Ohio Board of Nursing standards to be a designated approved nursing education institution. The school admits new students three times each year, typically in September, January and May.
