Meet The Owner: Sababa

Oh, this was so so much fun! Not only was it a small, but awesome, crowd of Unilocalers… the food was amazing and Johnny was so incredibly generous.
I am not really sure that I can add much more than what the other reviews have said. All of us were stuffed full of the samples, which were fantastic from start to finish… THEN, he tells us that we can go through the line and get a meal to have a true customer experience. This was just awesome from top to bottom. We were halfway through sampling and I texted my husband to let him know that I was planning on bringing him to Sababa. I only hope that Johnny will be there when we come back so he can get the full experience!
Thank you to Bryant for being so passionate about Sababa that he organized this event. Extra special thanks for Johnny and his staff for being so welcoming and feeding us such wonderful food. I can’t wait to go back!

Thank you, Bryant, for putting together a wonderful event at one of my favorite places in the city. Johnny was so amazingly generous with all the samples that were very filling and he didn’t need to give us free meals on top of that, but he did.
It was lovely talking to him and seeing his wife arrive with their two young adorable sons. At one point he was holding them both, with pride on his face. He said his staff are like family and it showed. Great service, great food, great time.

Another great Unilocal event in the books. Thanks to Bryant and owner Johnny for making it happen. I had a wonderful time sampling the dishes at Sababa. Johnny was very generous in letting us try essentially everything on the menu. Everything was delicious. The baba ganoush and falafel were my favorite. I wish Sababa was closer to me!
Great company as always. Thanks Gwen and Taylor for asking for the fries and grapeleaves ;). Johnny’s son, Jacob, was super cute. Also, the Unilocal schwag was ridiculous. Unilocal-​branded portable cellphone chargers?! Awesome…

I came in late to the event but it was definitely a great event! Not to mention the owner knew my entire family but me, so I had to get my face out there for him to see!
I know I missed the food samples but Johnny (the owner) still brought out the chicken and gyro meat for my husband and I to try. I liked the schwarma chicken because of the flavor of it. All the meats we sampled were mild in consideration of peoples taste buds I think.
Johnny told a bit of his story I heard. Plus brought out his cute son Yachov (Jacob in English).:) He also used to own Mezze but now owns this restaurant. All the meat and vegetables tasted fresh. We even sampled the hummus, tahini and other spreads. As well as getting the grape leaves, they were great!
I wish I would have come earlier to try the falafel and baba ganoush everyone else had! Oh well, I still had good food and enough to even take home! Everyone got to go in the line at the end and order something off the menu! As well as getting a sweet treat, the baklava to take home!
This was a fantastic event and I’m not just saying that because I grew up on this food. Although it has everything in one place from the schwarma, gyros, salads, etc. Plus you don’t have to wait long to get your food you just wait in line and boom your out the door!
Props to Bryant for putting together this event. You always know what I like!

This was my favorite Unilocal Elite event in a long while. The owner was just so engaging and generous. Seriously, I can’t wait to come back here and bring my girlfriend, my parents, friends… anyone! I loved that this event was really focused on the delicious food. Getting to sample nearly all of the menu was an excellent way to introduce us to what Sababa is all about.
The chicken sharawarma was incredible. Seriously, it was drive-​across-​town good! After feeding us sample after sample (hummus, baba g, fries, grape leaves) we still got to take an entire meal home (actually, it’ll probably equate to at least two meals). The baklava was super as well. I wanted to eat half of it and save the rest for later, but that didn’t happen.

This was a phenomenal event and a great first Unilocal Elite event for me! Thanks for putting it together Bryant and Johnny!
Johnny, the owner of Sababa, was beyond generous and welcoming to all of us. I loved hearing the story behind the restaurant before we dug into some amazing food! Johnny was so sweet and let us sample everything under the sun at his restaurant. Let me tell you – everything under the sun was DELICIOUS!
From the spicy feta, to the warm pitas, the shawarma chicken, I was already getting full off of the samples! One top of all that, he let us order our own meals and experience the food as customers afterwards!
Loved how he integrated the importance of his family into his story, and I enjoyed the short appearance his wife and his two sons made towards the end of the event.
I cannot wait to be back!

I need more stars. Hey, anyone out there, I need more stars please! Well, I’m mentally coloring them on, guess that will do for now. Bryant did an out of this world job deciding to do a CMYE @ Sababa Mediterranean.
If you’re a new business, or old and you need to revamp your image, Sababa is who you should be immolating. Johnny (owner) and Big Daddy (runs the open-​kitchen/​front line) have made this fast casual joint well worth the praise.
Johnny took the time to tell us about his background, how he got to the concept of Sababa. Then proceeded to completely stuff us all full with samples of every dish, appetizer and dessert they offer. Hella good. I mean HELLA GOOD! The meats? I could eat the Chicken Shawarma and Gyro meat all day, every fluffing day. Drizzle some of their homemade dressing on those chunks, and you’ve got Heaven rolled up in a handbag!
The selection of FRESH veggies to top your pita/​rice/​salad selection is amazing. Lightly pickled cucumber slices. Lemon, olive oil and peppered cabbage shreds. And of course «Feta makes everything betta’»!! Shoot, who am I kidding. I’d like to better describe the perfectly seasoned, expertly cooked fries. And the subtle tasting falafel. Oh and the Spicy Feta dip. But there’s not enough time, nor space, to praise these dishes. Don’t terry, you need to go. Just go. Just go now. Yeah, right now!
I can’t wait till my next stop here. True customer loyalty is around every turn, from the minute you walk in. And this experience was only heightened thanks to all the Elites who came. Kudos, and a giant Thanks! to Bryant :))

This event was more than you could hope for — a perfect spacing for everyone to meet the owner, (Johnny), and sample so. much. food. So much. I mean, we sampled their menu, and it was so good, and so, so filling. I couldn’t help myself but get some to go, because the sample wasn’t enough to sate my need for more chicken shwarma!
The spicy feta, the chicken shwarma, the baba ganoush, and the hummus all stood out — as did the falafel! I’m not even a fan of falafel, but that, combined with their house sauce — it was incredibly delicious.
Johnny really went all out — from getting to know everyone, to breaking out *more* food (fries, the *delicious* stuffed grape leaves) — I decided to indulge and regret these decisions later, and I’m so glad I did.
Bryant did a great job — he definitely picked a great spot (with great owners) for the event!
