I offer Guitar Lessons in Columbus Ohio at Sawmill Rd and 270 near Dublin, Powell, Worthington, and Upper Arlington. I teach every style of music and every skill level, including advanced and professional players. I am a different kind of guitar teacher. I do not work off of method books, nor do I try to figure out a song for you every week and try to teach you the song. We build a solid foundation on advanced technique right from the start so you can toss out bad habits and learn a proficient system that allows your fingers to be able to play anything they could ever need to play. When I teach chords, scales, and theory I walk you through and show you how to apply them and use them in your every day playing. I specialize in helping people who already play get out of the rut they are in and be able to have Musical Freedom.

I studied at the Atlanta Institute of Music and the University of Colorado earning two Masters in Music, one in Theory and Composition, the other in Music Education. While attending AIM I was fortunate to have Jimmy Herring as one of my professors and also I was Shawn Lanes Tech and Student for 8 years. I also have spent over 20 years teaching, touring nationally and internationally, and working as a session player in Memphis and Nashville. I am a true professional guitarist and have learned things over the years that you can not get from any book or any other teacher. My home studio is a 350sf playground for musicians and we always have fun in lessons!

History

Established in 1996.

I started teaching guitar while in school at the Atlanta Institute of Music in 96 and later went on to open the world renowned American Guitar Institute in Memphis TN. Over the years some of my students have gone on to receive scholarships to some of the top music schools in the nation, some of them even earning a full ride. I have also had students that have become very successful in the music business themselves and have been on national and international radio and TV including David Letterman and Jay Leno. In November of 2014 I decided to move my family to Columbus Ohio and offer Guitar Lessons in my home studio along with doing gigs and sessions. I have been doing this for many years and with years comes experience, and I am only 38!

I was educated at the Atlanta Institute of Music and the University of Colorado. One of my professors at the Atlanta Institute of Music was Jimmy Herring. I was also Shawn Lane’s tech and student for 8 years and toured the world with him. I started touring myself when I was 14 with former members of the Stax recording team and Otis Reddings band members including the great Ben Cauley. I have toured with many different bands over the years nationally and internationally including many classic rock bands, country legends, and even todays top country bands and at some point have performed just about any type of music you can think of from Jazz, Blues, Rock, Hard Rock, Metal, Country, Bluegrass, and Classical. I grew up playing on the world famous Beale Street in Memphis TN and also have been a session guitarist for many years. Now I am in Columbus Ohio offering guitar lessons in my home studio and booking my own band as well!
