Friends and I shared a room for our overnight white water rafting trip. We were satisfied for the price, and the room served its purpose; however, the hotel is far from luxurious. Some of the issues: the room door would stick, cold tap water was warm, the ice machine was broken, the shower head was low, the shower was tiny, the carpet was grungy, the remote control’s down channel button didn’t work, the safe didn’t work, etc. The staff was friendly. The location was convenient.

I would give them no stars if possible. Roaches and mold. The rooms have not been unkept since the 70’s. The TV is an old style not a flat screen. The shower pressure is at a drip vs a strong stream. I wouldn’t tell my enemy to stay here.

this was like a five star resort compared to the bogus ass days inn. the room rates were slightly higher but well worth it. it’s located in a good spot the rooms were clean and did not stink. they have a mini fridge and microwave, irons and boards are in your room and a little coffee machine. they have a decent spread for their free breakfast plenty of items to pick from. i learned my lesson the hard way when i go back to columbus i will stay here

My father is 90 years old. We were traveling to Fort Benning to see a tank he captured during WWII. The people at the Howard Johnson’s were terrific. The rooms were upgraded, sheets were clean, and the staff FABULOUS. Jasmine was great, not only on the phone but in person as well. The lady who worked the continental breakfast bar allowed us to eat ANDMADEUSFEELWELCOMED even though it was after the nine AM deadline. My father moves very slowly. The pool was clean and the grounds neatly kept. You could tell this place had seen better days, but it is being taken care of and kept up with new railings, and paint. My only problem was the mattress on the hide a bed was so bad that my children slept on the floor.

Definitely a great place to stay. We paid for a 1 bed room while they were doing a promo for about $ 55 a night. When we got there, the lady was really cool and offered to upgrade it to a suite for no extra charge at all. Score! The suite was actually 2 rooms which were«converted» to one. A door was placed in the wall in the middle and both rooms had a door that opened to the outside. In the main room with the bed, there was the usual TV, bathroom and shower, bed, desk, etc. The extra room had another TV, a table, a couch that converted into a bed, a refrigerator and microwave, and ironing board. Service was always peppy and friendly and helpful. I had a few questions about places to eat and the lady at the front desk was very informative and knew some great places. There were no roaches or bugs, and the sheets were very clean. The room itself wasn’t picture perfect clean. The walls showed the wear and tear of an old-ish building and they were what some might consider a bit dingy. However, it was clean enough so that we didn’t get nasty sticky feet from the hotel carpet. The hotel is in a prime location next door to a great breakfast spot Ruth Ann’s Restaurant, and within walking distance to the hopping downtown area of Columbus. A must-stay for people visiting the area.

Can I really be the first Unilocaler to weigh in on this HoJo? Well, Columbus gets a lot of traffic during a certain weekend every year during a protest at the School of the Americas at Fort Benning, just down the way. My group stayed here just this past weekend, and let me tell ya this place is a cut above some of the other hotels around. The beds and pillows are soft, the rooms appear pretty clean. And all your little shampoos and lotions smell like citrus– mmm refreshing! The breakfast in the morning is hot and if you didn’t stay there and get issued a ticket, the meal can be purchased for a fiver. The grits aren’t cooked by anybodys mama, but who can pass up grits plus biscuits, home fries, and some scrambled ‘eggs.’ In quotes because they look a little too homogeneous to have been cracked individually… I’d do it again.
