These guys were very professional, very helpful and did a great job!
Got hooked up with them through our ABC Home Warranty and they did not disappoint at all!
Thoroughly explained everything to us, walked us through all of our options and were very attentive to our needs. Was told of the least expensive options through the top-​of-​the-​line offerings and never felt pressured one way or another.
Made us feel like their #1 Customer the whole time.
From the initial diagnosis to getting a new furnace installed, it was just over 24 Hours! Of course ours went out during the only real cold snap we’ve had this year, but they even brought us over space heaters for the night to keep warm.
Dealt with several members of their organization and were very pleased with their service and the way they spoke to us. Very down-​to-​earth organization.

I use to be a big fan of Hetter and my family and I would recommend them.
**NOT ANYMORE. I had a condenser fan motor go bad and they wanted $ 950 plus the $ 98 initial service call where the tech just confirmed my issue. He didnt even touch the unit — literally! Plus, the service tech arrived so late past my window that they couldn’t even order the part! More time was spent paying them for the service call. The next afternoon they didn’t even call me back to schedule a repair appointment. By the end of day, I decided to cancel with Hetter and I just made time to fix it myself which only took me 27 minutes from start to finish.
Now, I had Hetter last year install a new Bradford & White water heater (for $ 875) that needed a new gas valve installed and plumbing. The water heater itself is 2.5 times more and needed about 2 hours of labor compared with 30 minutes for the condenser motor for my AC unit.
I guess because the weather was hot they figure they could gouge the customer. Which is a poor business model because I figure in 3 years I want to buy a more efficient AC unit, but since Hetter was be ridiculous I wont ever recommend or use them again!

UPDATE: my personal repair worked well all last summer and my electric bill was even lower then previous seasons since the condensing unit work better with the new part I installed.

During this most recent sub-​zero «Polar Vortex,» our furnace was in desperate need of replacement. We wasted days trying to battle with our insurance company and by the time we called Hetter, our house wouldn’t warm beyond 44 degrees inside. Kevin came and brought us space heaters to keep warm, while Jason spent the better part of 6 hours working in our house (which, by that time had dipped below 35 degrees) and outside (sub-​zero temps) to make sure we survived this brutal winter. I cannot thank them enough for the work they did or recommend them more highly. They were kind, caring and genuinely concerned about our situation. Thank you so much, Hetter!

I have become so superstitious about my heating that I wanted to wait a couple of weeks after the job was done before I wrote the company up, just to make sure everything continued working. So far, so super!
I looked up Hetter to help replace my condo’s furnace and air conditioner after winding up in limbo with a different company, as my project went on hold with them and they didn’t return my calls. There are space complications with my tiny home, and some of the things the other company told me diverged from what the condo’s business manager had seen with other units.
I told the folks at Hetter about my situation, and Rick was over the next day. He looked at my space, came up with some options for me, and emailed me a comprehensive explanation of them later. Over the next week, we both did some research at our respective ends. Rick contacted city inspectors to get their sense of whether the options I had for negotiating the small space would give me trouble when I sell and need to be inspected in the indefinite future. I checked with the condo to find out what was permitted by the association and what other residents had done. All this time, Rick was prompt with the email correspondence. No message went more than a business day before a received a response.
After a week of reliable communication, we made arrangements for my furnace to be installed. The air conditioner part of the plan went on hold for various reasons. The furnace installation went perfectly smoothly. There was one hiccup after the installers left because they had turned off a circuit breaker erroneously and left a section of my kitchen power-​free, but I figured it out.
Even though a portion of the project didn’t end up happening, I was impressed by the amount of work Rick did for me before I had even confirmed that I’d be hiring his company. He was focused on getting me information about equipment that would be suitable for the space I have. He offered options and was flexible about changing them when necessary. Most importantly, he communicated.
The price seemed reasonable, though I haven’t looked far beyond the two companies I dealt with, and they’re difficult to compare on cost because of the difference in project scope.
I just know that my furnace is installed and paid for and has been working continuously since before Thanksgiving. After having shivered through most of last winter, I’m a pretty happy camper.

I had the following items installed:
Trane 80% efficiency furnace, with two-​stage heat and variable-​spin fan
Trane 13 SEER air conditioner
The price Hetter quoted includes these two items, removal of the old furnace and air conditioner, labor (6.5 hours), permits, and warranty.
Hetter Heating and Cooling was able to provide several quotes of different efficiency furnaces via email (they responded very quickly). Because this is the slow season for HVAC contractors, they were able to come to my house and promptly install the system. They offered space heaters until the new system could be installed. When they arrived, they pulled out the «Red Carpet Treatment», a sticky disposable carpet they use to keep their walkways clean while working. The entire installation took about 6.5 hours and they answered my questions about how to operate the thermostat.
I had to have the team return the next day because the hose that goes through a wall to the air conditioner behind my house had not been sealed off properly, and a bit of rain water was coming in my basement. Because Hetter is located close to my home and I was able to contact them early in the morning, they were able to come out and fix the problem within an hour (it just needed some expanding foam insulation).
The owner called a few days later to see how things are working, and the system seems to be running just fine (maybe a bit louder than I expected). I plan to renew my service contract with Hetter to keep my new equipment running at peak performance.
As of this review, I am waiting for the City of Columbus to come to my house to inspect the installation (I called Hetter to confirm that this is standard operating procedure). I am also waiting for Trane to send warranty information, and possibly paperwork for a tax credit. It is the end of March, and I also had a Trane air conditioner installed, but won’t be using it for several months.
For the particular furnace I chose (80% efficiency, two-​stage heat, and variable stage blower), I qualified for one-​year interest free financing from Wells-​Fargo.
I chose Hetter for several reasons:
–I had been on a maintenance agreement with them for about 1.5 years (I got their name from a coworker).
–They sell Trane products, which have a high-​quality reputation and replacement parts can be found easily.
–They are located close to my home, so if something goes wrong, they are able to come to my home quickly.
–They have been providing HVAC services to the Columbus community for over 40 years.
–They have received very good reviews on Angie’s List.
–When putting together a quote, they provided a packet of information, including permits, awards received (BBB, Angie’s List) and customer recommendations. I had seven (yes, seven!) contractors visit, and Hetter was the only company to provide this level of reassurance.
