Staff/​management made this shop unbearable. Makes sense that it is going out of business.

The staff really ruined my experience here. It was last night and I’m still mad about it. I told one of the young girls my 5 year had never been and I’d life her to try a few flavors before choosing as here you pay .46 cents an oz for whatever you poor into the huge bowl they provide. The girl was annoyed even though it was busy.
My daughter goes on to say she just wants chocolate and so the girl just leaves and I’m standing there thinking excuse me I just asked to try some samples. Anyways my daughter ends up dropping her bowl and I hand it to the girl and instead of throwing it away she puts it on the scale and tells me it’s $ 4 something. I then pay, clean up the mess myself and throw it away walking out the door. I also noticed on my way out the only place to get spoons is at the register. They’re all facing up, unwrapped for everyone to touch after they handle paying. All I could think was super germs! Ewww
I still can’t believe she expected me to feed a child an ice cream bowl I scooped off the ground. The bowl I had would have taste okay but I couldn’t get the taste of the bad employee out of my mouth and their floors are sticky, dirty and in the same condition as the staff: disgusting!

Good selection of flavors. However, their toppings bar didn’t seem to have as many fruits as Orange Leaf and didn’t seem as fresh.

The selection of toppings; excellent. Of froyo? Not so much. I came here specifically because the website said it had dairy-​free and vegan options and this is what I was looking for. Sad, there were only 2 options from the whole line; chocolate and peanut butter. Other than that, the place is nice and clean and the crepes with nutella was yummy too. More vegan flavors please!!!

The ice cream was ok. The sandwiches were good, but nothing special. However the prices were reasonable. The staff was friendly.

Ok I need to find something like this in Chicago… Self serv and Mango sorbet that tastes like spoonfuls of actual mango. As well as amazing fruity yogurts. Self serve… toppings… Drool. Whatever those pearls or whatever they are, they taste amazing! Also, in the heat I figured out that sorbet melts slower than yogurt. So there is that.
Everyone was friendly and I ate more yogurt/​sorbet in one sitting than I ever had before…

Groovy Spoon has a vegan option besides sorbet… yippee! The GS website shows several different vegan options but this location only serves certain flavors and those flavors don’t change :(.
So there are several flavors some of which are sorbets. Then there are quite a few topping options– fruit, cookie crumbs, brownie crumbs, etc. Then your icy concoction is weighed and you’re charged .44 per ounce.
My first visit was pretty amazing. Perhaps I was overly excited about the vegan, non-​sorbet option. During my second visit, however, the vegan peanut butter yogurt quickly melted into liquid. I ended trashing it after a few bites– it was that gross. Granted, GS staff had just refilled that item, but perhaps they should warn that it takes a while for the yogurts to solidify fully after being refilled.
I dunno, I might try it again. Not any time soon, though.

The Design-​Your-​Own Froyo shops are popping up all over! Groovy Spoon is close to my home and I invested in a Groupon recently to try it out. Several yogurt flavors, fresh fruit, candy toppings and syrup. Typical spread. Yes, it’s just like all the others – just a different brand, but there is a small difference in my opinion that sets them apart. They offer «no-​sugar added:» options. This may appeal to those counting calories, but for me ingesting processed sugar creates a medical issue that cannot be supplemented by a pill or insulin and I can rarely partake in frozen treats (Jeni, I’m looking specifically at you!). Because Groovy offers «no sugar added» strawberry-​banana and tart flavors I was able to join in the fun with toppings of fresh raspberries and kiwis! Count on spending about $ 5 a bowl unless you really load it up.

Good ice cream alternative
I can’t say I’m big on frozen yogurt, but groovy spoon is nice to have when in the mood for some ice cream. There are a bunch of different flavors, and a great assortment of toppings to provide every flavor I am looking for. I don’t like how the frozen yogurt tastes by the end of eating it (has that carbonation going on like soda eck), but besides that great when I’m trying to have a healthier indulgence.

I go to Goovy Spoon once a week and I’ve always had a great experience there. I’ve never had a problem finding a flavor I like in their ever-​revolving choices of fro-​yo. Sometimes they may be out of a particular topping, but they have such a large collection that it isn’t too much of a problem. The staff is extremely nice and always offer samples. The frequent buyer card has been beneficial if you go more than once every two weeks.
I also love the atmosphere. I always get my fro-​yo to go, but during the summers, a lot of families and friends gather there. Definitely worth checking out.

Third time is the charm, they sure lure me in with thier BOGO coupons and proved that they really improved both in service and in taste.
The kid and the manager were really nice, like others I am bothered that they stand there and offer you the samples, my son had two I skipped it and got a bit of each kind as usual.
After the disaster at Mochi I am now so sure that they rip you off and messed with the scales because with my BOGO coupon I got 2 cups for $ 2 and there was twice as much in there as I had at Mochi though both prices per ounce were the same!
Tastewise I liked all of them more or less and this time I got one of each cupcake as well.
They large are $ 1.50 each and 3 for $ 2.99.
The small are 79 cent each and 3 for $ 1.60 which is what I got.
They were pretty good, not amazing but a good deal.
They also had huge rice krispy treats for 99 cent each and were baking fresh cookies from scratch which is a nice addition if you don’t want froyo.
Overall I would say this is one of my favorite places to get froyo.

Visited tonight for the first time on a recommendation of a friend, and it was all she said it would be. Open late (11pm) super convenient parking lot, delicious flavors and toppings. Very groovy, indeed.

Greeted by some chirpy ladies there. Very friendly, all smiley. =)
This place is solid. About 10 flavors, but I only found 3 fruits the rest are either vanilla or chocolate or both together. Flavors rotate regularly I hear. Tons of toppings. It’s quite spacious for a froyo place. There’s patio seating outside, too. It’s kind of weird, but I didn’t see those tiny cups for testing out the flavors. =(((
I got orginal tart, berry, & pomegranate. Not bad, but not excellent, either. It’s a bit icy, not as creamy as others that I’ve tried around Cols.
There’s a topping bar to the right of the yogurt dispensers. Fruits, not so much. Tons of other sugary & chocolaty toppings, though. What I would like to see would be labels for the toppings. There were 3 types of popping bobas and I didn’t know what flavors they were. There were some other ones that I didn’t know what they are, either.
Told me it’s 44cents/​oz. That’s competitive pricing, bordering similarly to other froyo joints around town. I’d go again if I get a buy-​1-​get-​1 coupon or other special deals, but I’d like to see more adventurous/​tropical flavors please!!!

The weather is great for frozen yogurt, so the boy and I headed up to Clintonville to get some froyo. This is a typical self-​serve yogurt shop, with the dispensers lined up against one wall. You do not need the large cup! You may think you do, but you don’t! We tried four flavors — orange, raspberry, strawberry lemonade, and cake batter. The orange started out ok but was eclipsed by the sweetness of the other flavors. The raspberry and strawberry lemonade were «meh,» as if they were trying to capture a traditional tart flavor but just ended up being flat. The cake batter, a conventional American yogurt style (sweet, creamy), was the best of the lot.
The service at the dispensers was great — the lady working there offered sample cups as soon as she saw us looking over the flavors. It was a little less attentive but not rudely so at the register.
There is a «happy hour» between 11am-​1pm where the cost per oz drops down to 39c.
I wouldn’t say «no» to coming back, but there wasn’t anything here that was particularly unique amongst Columbus’s froyo offerings.

I’ve been here twice and I’m really not very impressed. To be fair I am much more of an ice cream guy than a frozen yogurt guy, but even with that caveat I’ve had much better frozen yogurts (and, to be honest, a true frozen yogurt beats «fro yo» like Groovy Spoon etc. anyway).
The customer service here is pretty crude. I don’t think I was greeted upon entering either time I went to this place, and I have to admit that I’m glad I was with a veteran Groovy Spoon customer because I don’t think I would have figured out exactly what you are supposed to do once you walk in the door.
The containers here invite over-​indulgence. The self-​serve machines seem like an excuse to hire the laziest employees ever. The fixin’s bar is a mess, has less compelling choices than other fro yo places, and has very questionable whip cream storage methods (or otherwise very questionable whip cream). This place is so off-​putting it generally scares what little inclination I have to eat sweets right out of me.
There’s better fro yo, but then there are also just plain better deserts. If you want huge tubs of mediocre fro yo covered in literal pounds of candy, sugar, high fructose corn syrup and crap, then by all means grab your platinum Visa– or take out a second mortgage– and round up the family for some Groovy Spoon.

My wife and I have never been to a Groovy Spoon, nor will be return.
We walked in. No menu, no instructions, and the guy at the counter didn’t even acknowledge us, let alone help us through our first visit.
There were a couple of girls wandering around sampling an ounce here, an ounce there, probably to make up for the price of a purchase, as I’m reading in other reviews about the cost.
Unprofessional, unclear, and uninviting.

Seriously, for what you get, this place is really expensive and the flavors are pretty uninteresting.
I couldn’t find prices posted anywhere, and assumed it was by priced weight.

Mean unhappy people should not work at a yogurt store. I’m just saying!!! On top of unpleasant staff the yogurt had no taste and the toppings were stale. Will be gone in 6 months if they don’t change. 10/​21/​2011

I went here the other day, so I could try it before my buy 1 get 1 coupon expired. I’m always excited to try to new frozen yogurt places and had been waiting for this one to open, despite it’s several grand opening dates that kept changing! I had no expectations, but overall I thought it was pretty good. Due to the fact that you have to ask somebody that works there to get you a sample, I only tried 2 or 3 before deciding it’d be easier to just fill my cup with a hodgepodge of flavors. The peach mango tart was by far my favorite (out of the 5 or 6 flavors I put in my cup), with the thin mint close behind. The other flavors were pretty generic.
They offer a ton of different toppings, in addition to having crepes, waffles, cupcakes, cheesecake and other items on their menu. Seems a little weird for a frozen yogurt store to have all the other stuff on the menu, but I won’t judge until I’ve tasted!

I have just three words for you: Om Nom Nom.
I love frozen confections. Ice creams and frozen yogurts are definitely my favorite desserts. I love hunting down new places to satisfy this special sweet tooth and I’m glad I stumbled upon this one.
With a wide variety of yogurt choices (some sugar free, some fat free, some both, and some totally sinful) in all kinds of crazy flavors, and tons of toppings to choose from, it’s a little bit too easy to go crazy in here. But, even if you got a bit crazy your first time, it’s really not that badly priced. I was able to get more yogurt and topping than I could comfortably eat for under 5 bucks. I can’t say that for some of my other favorite frozen dessert places in the area.
I’ve only been once so far, but I’m surely going back the neck time the cravings hit.
