The food was decent, and the portions are huge. We went in with a large party and they were able to get us right in. The ginger sauce was really good too. There is a very strong fish tank smell when you first walk in, but there is nothing to really set this place apart from other Japanese steakhouses.

I love the Fujiyama. A tradition in Columbus for many years, it’s Hot, fresh food served right off the hibachi. Tonight I ordered the Yama dinner and it may be the first time I am leaving with a box. Not that it’s not a nice portion, I just have a big appetite. The food was delicious as expected. Hope to be back soon!

One word. Astonished. I love most restaurants and don’t have overly high standards. Never disliked a Japanese steak house until now. I got filet and shrimp, with scallops and steamed rice. The rice was gooey– way over done. The shrimp was bland(salt. Lemon… pepper pleAse). The filet was minuscule and more than likely steak. It was charred and well done. I asked for mid rare. The scallops were borderline raw and smelled like fish. I wish a manager was around– but nobody ever checked on us. A quarter of our meal was eaten. The rest was taken with no questions. The highlight/the salad dressing was amazing. Nutty. Fantastic. But never again. Go to Benihana. Kobe. Iron chef. Genji. Ichiban. You will feel better about the check after you enjoy food instead of regretting it.

When we pulled up the workers were smoking out front, but I put my best foot forward and went in with a good mind set. When we walked in there was a strange smell and it was uncomfortably hot. I overlooked it and we were seated very quickly. The server was friendly and so was the chef. The food was good until I realized halfway through my meal that there were pieces of shrimp that had not been deveined. I quietly told the waiter who announced it very loudly to the other guests. He was very unprofessional and never apologized for it, instead he claimed that they came deveined. Horrible experience and I will not be back.

Oh how the mighty have fallen, just not at all what it used to be, maybe a bit of a metaphor for life in general these days. Food is still tasty and hits the spot like it did when I was coming here as a kid, but overall it misses the mark. For starters the place is a time warp, it is identical to 20 plus years ago down to the carpet, the place desperately needs an update, but you could argue that the stoic and static décor is part of the charm. Service, however, is a disaster. Every time I am here I am left wondering why I come back(taste silly) when the service is so lacking. With rare exception, you’re are left to feel like they are doing you a favour by simply taking orders and doing their jobs. If you have never been here, don’t waste your time, I’m sure my repeat business is a product of nostalgia and hope rather then performance. For consistency and repeatability try the House of Japan(Dublin and Polaris) Shi Chi(Dublin) or Tanuki(Powell) and for a real splurge(and intended some throwback irony) there is Benihana at Polaris. Caveat Emptor!

The ambiance is great and the portions are huge. The«show» is very lacking and only consists of a giant fire at the beginning and an onion volcano. For the price I wanted more. The taste of the food was okay but the flavor was lacking. Also, an extra $ 2.95 for fried rice vs steamed rice is a little ridiculous. The best part about the visit was the group in discount. There is no ventilation over the grills and you leave smelling like burnt food.

If they could use 1⁄3 of butter this will be a healthier option to have lunch Price is good, even though the place needs an update as it makes you feel that you are in the 1970’s Chefs are nice and easy to talk with…

I’ve been coming here since I was a kid. In all honesty, I would rather pick any other Japanese Steakhouse in Columbus over Fujiyama. The quality just doesn’t compare to other places around town.

The décor is outdated but the food is awesome. And the venlation is not the best dont wear anything you dont want smelling like food and smoke. I come here alot and always receive friendly and tasty food. The 4.99 lunch is served everyday which consits of chicken fried rice and soup, salad thats a great deal beats going to a fast food place. I say come and give it a try.

As far as hibachi restaurants go, this one is as average as they come. The décor and ambiance is dated, perhaps as a testament to their long-standing presence in the central Ohio market. The food was actually quite good but what was truly lacking was the fun show one traditionally thinks of when going to enjoy hibachi. It was literally one of the least entertaining hibachi dinners we’ve ever had where the only«trick» was the traditional onion volcano. For the price, I’d expect a bit more in terms of entertainment. However, it’s well worth it with a Groupon given their superb food.

When we first walked in we were greeted by a less than enthusiastic hostess. She was not very friendly and didn’t smile once while seating or greeting us. Our server was no different. She was continuously rolling her eyes at our party of ten and did not hide her annoyance with anything from us. I ordered a merlot and when I went to take a drink from it, it looked as if someone had taste tested it before bringing it to our table as there was a lipstick stain on the rim of the glass. I also grabbed the bottom of my chair to scootch myself in and ended up putting my hand in a nice big piece of chewed up gum. All of the members of our party live in different states so we hadn’t seen each other in a while, so at the end of our meal we asked our server to take a quick photo of us all and she couldn’t have been less happy about it. Salad was watered down romaine lettuce with nothing else in it and the food was not very flavorful. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I would definitely say to find a different hibachi restaurant in the area.

Went for the first time last evening. Looks a little outdated outside and inside but was really cool none the less. I think the half moon grill idea is great. We were served by AJ who was a fantastic waiter with a great personality. He brought out soup, salad, drinks and took our order. Then the chef came out and he was great and chatted with us and was very accommodating. Other Japanese steakhouses I have been to the chef does not speak. We were served wonderfully cooked and scrumptious food. I ordered filet mignon and scallops and boyfriend ordered filet mignon and shrimp. We had plenty to eat with shrimp appetizer, vegetables and bean sprouts in addition to our meal. Had a coupon so it was reasonably priced for everything we had. We will be coming back again!

We celebrated my daughter’s birthday here last night. I printed off the Buy one get one coupons from the website. There were 4 of us and they took both coupons, it saved us $ 26! All four of us ordered the shogun dinner. Everything was good. The chicken was a little dry. My boyfriend said they fixed his steak perfectly — medium rare. Love their salad dressing on their salad as well as their food. I believe they are a tad bit over priced. The restaurant needs updating inside, especially the bar area with the glass aquariums as tables. They have been there forever and show their age. It is always a bit too dark too. Overall, I like it here and will be back.

First impression walking in is that the restaurant hasn’t been updated since the 70s. I’m good with that though, I like the cute garden scapes and koi ponds. I also enjoyed the lit up aquariums throughout the place. They have the stations set up into quadrants seating 3 people each(6 per half circle). Because of this setup they can easily prepare for 2 – 3 as they can 6 without making you wait for more people to join the table. We had the chicken dinner and the steak dinner. All dinners come with a shrimp hibachi appetizer, soup and salad. The soup was a fairly standard clear broth with a few mushrooms in it, but it was flavorful and rich. The salad dressing they used was delicious in my opinion, however my husband did not feel the same. The shrimp was well cooked and complimented by the ginger dipping sauce. For the entrée the chicken was a little dry and needed some salt but with the yum yum dipping sauce was delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly(med rare) and had good flavor and tenderness. We did not order the fried rice but since the couple in the other part of our circle had ordered it the chef gave us a sample of it on our plates, I will definitely get it next time we go. The vegetables were well seasoned as well. Service was attentive and moved at a good pace. They were friendly and happy to accept my Groupon. I considered it a good value with the coupon taken into consideration. I’m not sure I would go again if I had to pay full price. The restaurant is no longer in a prime location and has so many competitors now that it is unfortunately past is hay day. However I hope to see it get its second wind and stay in business for a long time to come. In general I’ve always felt Japanese steakhouses are a little over priced so I’d rate it average in prices and recommend it to anyone looking for that style of dining.

+ good meal — old décor, all staff move slow Came in here tonight and it was super busy. I guess we should have made reservations, but who knew on Thursday night? The hostess told us 15 minutes but we had to wait an hour. It seemed like she also had to wait a long time for the table to be ready(cleaned). There seems to be a lack of staff here This place looks old. And the lights are dim to hide the stains etc. They have not touched this place in 30 years. We were seated at one side of the table, 9 of us, and were were a bit squished. The cooking surface was super old as well as the table and chairs. The waitress was nice, taking our drink orders. After 15 minutes the drinks arrived and she took out dinner orders. We chose Teriyaki Chicken(white meat) and Hibachi Steak(NY Strip). The chef was nice and started with a huge inferno on the grill. Perhaps too many flames. I think my eyebrows melted a bit. Then he gave us the classic flaming onion volcano – woohoo! We received the onion soup. Plain but good. Just a few prices of onion in it. Then the salad which only had iceberg lettuce and nothing else. The Fuji dressing on top was loaded with ginger and what looked like thousand island sauce. It was good but just too much dressing. The chef then made the fried rice. We chose white rice but he gave us a sample of the fried. I didn’t like it. Overcooked(crunchy) with a burnt taste. No thanks. The white rice was perfect. We then received our steak and chicken. A little dry but tasted good. We asked for some hot sauce and they brought it in a saucer. Boy was it good mixed in with the meat. Finally the mixed vegetable were cooked up and places on our plates. They were good as well. If you get past the crappy décor, this place will impress you with the cooking show and Tasty of the dishes.

Have gone here quite a few times over the course of many years and I would say the food and service are consistently good. I’ve been to House of Japan as well, and overall I find the quality and taste of the food to be very similar. However, there is one thing that I think makes Fujiyama stand out, and that’s the salad dressing. It is so delicious. I just love that we can get a bottle of it to go and have it at home for a few days.

This place is bad. Very bad. I usually go to House of Japan in Dublin for my hibachi needs but my friend had a groupon for $ 30 off. Sound too good to be true? Well, thats because it is. The building looks really cool and when you walk in it looks like it might be very nice, but the décor is asian-wannabe. We were abrasively greeted by a host who was on his phone and didn’t notice us come in. Then he took us to our seat. The waiter came over, and as much as I appreciate somebody trying to be casual and ‘cool’ with me, when I am paying $ 25+ for a meal I would like to experience some sort of professionalism; instead i was greeted with ‘sup, what kinda drink do you want?‘ I can handle bad service and I certainly understand that going into a restaurant 1 hour before they close may be the reason why i dont get top notch service. Other than the unprofessionalism, my drink was always full and he promptly took our orders. However, the grills were disgusting. Absolutely horrifying. They were hot and turned on for over 30 minutes before our chef came out. During this time I noticed that the ceiling was dripping grease onto the grill and onto the table that we were sitting at. The chef finally came out and I was pretty grossed out by the way the food was prepared… The raw chicken was sitting on top of all the veggies. This is cooking 101 people… raw chicken never touches anything. There was no show. No attempt at a show. This doesn’t bother me so much… but if I am paying good money(which is the only reason MOST hibachis charge) then you can at least try to entertain us. It might have been the cook’s first night, because he seemed very frazzled when he came to our table. I cannot believe the amount of salt he put on our meat. Oh my god. I couldn’t even eat more than a couple bites. The portions are super small compared to other places and they cook everything in oil and it ruins the flavor of the meat they cook. Also, the steak is barely philly cheese steak thickness… All in all, I was hoping this place would be awesome, but it just seemed like nobody cared, and that it was very run down. It was rather depressing. I hope their management responds to this, but I have a feeling that their leadership is about as apathetic as their food.

I think I may have over rated this the 1st time my kids and I went. We went back again, this time with my husband and my oldest son as well. He took 1 bite of their salad dressing and shot me a look of disgust(I was smart this time… I took my own dressing… yes, I know, that’s ghetto). I knew exactly what he was thinking because I thought the same thing the 1st time I tasted that horrific, nasty, gross«salad dressing» they use. The food was overcooked(not burnt but the meat was a little tough) and the chef used waayyyy too much butter when cooking this time. We probably wont be back unless something changes… and I hope it does. We live less that 10 minutes from here! We would love to make this a regular spot.

I think this place is on its last leg. The parking lot is in a huge state of disrepair. The building is faded and crumbling. As soon as you walk in you are welcomed by a broken stream which still has a bit of running water but is mostly empty, kinda like an abandoned pool. The rest of the inside is dimly lit to hide all of the age and wear and tear. Right off the bat the server brought the soup out which had one mushroom and one tiny piece of pork, it was mostly broth. To top it off, I think he brought me my neighbors uneaten soup. When we were seated the people at our shared table were finishing their soup. When we arrived the waiter took our drink order, then took two bowls of soup that the kids at the table didn’t want to eat. Then a few minutes later the waiter returned with our drinks and soup… which wasn’t hot which makes me believe it had been sitting at the table. Next the salads came out… pretty much the worst dressing I’ve had in a place like this, no hint of ginger. The iceberg lettuce was also very white and not green. I ordered the steak and shrimp, $ 22, with egg yolk sauce, add $ 1.50, and fried rice, add another $ 2.95. Most places do both for free. The fried rice was pretty weak an certainly not worth anywhere near $ 3. The hibachi meal itself wasn’t bad. My shrimp was a bit overdone and the chef gave me a ton of egg yolk sauce. The brown sauce served with dinner was pretty bad while the yum yum sauce was outstanding. My steak, rare, while the portion was on the small side, it was as tender as a filet and cooked to perfection. The vegetables and bean sprouts were also cooked well and pretty good. Unlike some other japanese steakhouses such as Shi Chi, they don’t give you any free ice cream for dessert. To be honest we only came here because we had a Groupon, otherwise I wouldn’t have strayed from Shi Chi to cheat on her with a lesser woman. And oddly enough as soon as we got there they asked if we had a coupon and wanted to take the Groupon, I felt that this was odd and somewhat a slight on their part. Oh well, the Groupon is redeemed and we won’t be back.

I was 110% unimpressed with this place. My two friends really liked it, and I don’t know why. Every Japanese Steakhouse I’ve been to(in Columbus and elsewhere) has been fantastically better. The service was okay, except my drink was always empty. The chef was good, but the food was meh. Just meh. I won’t return, as I just, all-in-all, think there are several better selections in the area. I’ll come back if my friends insist, but that’s it. Not impressed.
