Evolved Body Art

My daughter and I both got piercings today and Ben was awesome!!! The whole shop was clean and very professional– we didn’t wait at all, the jewelry selection was very good, Ben was great and explained everything very well.

My husband and I both go to Evolved for our tattoo work — we LOVE Joe. He has done custom designs for both of us and is amazing at interpreting our ideas into pieces that are better than we could imagine. I would recommend him to anyone looking for American traditional style.

I have had several tattoos and piercings done at Evolved, and every experience has been great. The shop is immaculately clean, the receptionists are friendly and helpful, and there are amazingly talented people on staff. Evolved offers every style of tattooing you could possibly want, and an array of jewelry you simply cannot find anywhere else.

It’s been a year or so since I had my body art (tattoo doesn’t even seem to cover it adequately) done by Chris Borchik at Evolved, but I can’t sing his praises enough and it just occurred to me that I should do so here.
My initial consultation with Chris was in-​depth, thoughtful, patient, and thorough. Over the next week we went back and forth with mock-​ups and he even created a font for the project by taking samples of the desired artist’s handwriting and creating the lyric I wanted in that handwriting, all the while ensuring I liked each stage of the stencil development.
Cut to the work itself: all in all the piece took about 13 – 14 hours. I had had a recent life upheaval that required me to move only a couple weeks after the consultation, but Chris was such a marathoning pro, he managed to do the whole piece in two long-​ass sessions. I chose him specifically for his watercolor expertise (the piece of art I wanted replicated was a watercolor), and holy mackerel did he replicate that art down to every single blend of color and brushstroke. I’ve never seen anything like it.
He’s patient and makes sure every single piece is exactly what you want (I think we worked on resizing/​moving the song lyric for like 45 minutes in the studio during the session), and he’s talented as hell. Chris has an amazing future in the industry ahead of him, and you should visit him for any and all body art you ever need. Seriously, I’d travel back to Columbus from NYC if I ever wanted another piece done just to have him do it.
Finally, his rates are totally reasonable (honestly, given his talent, I would even call his rates low). What a gem!

Awesome Experience! I am 41 years old and an extreme chicken at heart. I decided to go outside my comfort zone and get my first Tattoo a couple days ago. When I entered the shop I was immediately greeted with a smile. The shop was really nice and not intimidating. There was a lot going on, people walking around etc. It wasn’t overwhelming but I didn’t feel like all eyes were on me. While I waited to speak with Lacey my tattoo artist, literally everyone that walked past me, and there were a lot, smiled at me and asked if I needed anything. The clientele that came in while I was there was very diverse which I can appreciate; all ages, colors, etc. My point being I didn’t feel out of place at all, a 41 year old in the heart of a college campus.
My tattoo artist Lacey was amazing. I explained to her how nervous I was and she did everything she could to calm me down; talked to me, offered me water, etc. Before the tattoo began, Lacey explained everything to me. She made sure to show me how sterile everything was, and showed me the unopened packages of equipment she was going to be using on me. She constantly reassured me that if there was anything I didn’t like or wanted to change to let her know, that she was perfectly fine with it and just wanted to make me happy. She was not arrogant at all! She was very professional, yet laid back and easy to talk to. I was worried I would feel like an idiot going into this, not knowing anything about tattoos and I was never once made to feel that way. Lacey’s work was amazing. I was very satisfied/​ecstatic!!! When she was done she took time to go over aftercare with me. Actually more than once because it was kind of hard to focus with all of my excitement. Haha. The price was very reasonable also!!! I would definitely recommend Evolved and Lacey to anyone!!!
And for those of you wondering if was not really painful at all. Felt more like scratches then needle pricks :)

I had a back piece done by Katrina. I was amazed at the outcome. She was able to take the original design and at my request make some changes to it. It was kind of emotional piece for me and I couldn’t be happier with the results. The entire place has a great vibe to it and sitting there looking through the different portfolios is a real treat.

I got a piercing here about a month ago and am more than pleased with the experience. It was very professional and I can not express enough how sanitary the whole process was. He went through every step of the process with me and kept me calm even though it hurt like hell. He told me to come back and follow up in four weeks if there were any concerns. Although I could say the workers could be more fun and personable. Especially the first person to greet the client. but would much rather it be professional than sketchy!

Two tattoos and one piercing over the course of a few years and I love them. My husband has gotten his tattoo fine there and he’s planning on getting a second there soon. Everyone from the front desk staff to the tattoo and piercing artists are amazing. Everything is clean and sterilized right in front of you. I love my new ink and I can’t wait to go back again.

I got two tiny tattoos done here the other day, and I am more than satisfied. I got waited on immediately, the tattoo artist (Matt) was very patient with me as I’m pretty picky, and the process was quick and everything was super clean. My friends whom were with me got waited on quickly as well!

I had a really great experience here. I came in to get a new stud for my nose piercing on a Saturday night around 7 pm. Everyone who helped me was incredibly knowledgable and helpful. They explained all the different types of jewelry they had and changed the stud when I picked one.
Some piercing places can feel a little judgy if you aren’t super knowledgable about piercings, but I didn’t find that to be true here. Everyone was friendly and nice.
I will definitely be back!

Eclectic Sunday, part three:
Sweetie and I just had an anniversary, and wanted to commemorate our wedding date with a tattoo. It was my second, and I didn’t even cry…
We came here mainly due to the Unilocal reviews, but also because we had heard of it other places and, well, it seemed to be one of the few places open on Sunday. It’s tucked away off High Street, upstairs, in a large, stylish space. Service was great the whole way through. We had help picking our design, then were ushered back and took our turns on the table. Matt was very cool and very good at what he did. Our designs were small and simple, so it didn’t take long. He did exactly what we wanted, and the price was very reasonable.
I’d go back, if I get another tattoo. But then, I got two, for very specific reasons, and am not planning any more. I don’t see how it could get better than this, though. They had all kinds of stuff for piercings too, if you’re into that.

These guys are just awesome to work with! Earlier this year I had a piece done by an artist from a different studio that I liked, but didn’t completely love. A friend recommended that I come to Evolved and see Chris Churchill, who had done a few of her pieces. Chris listened to my gripes about the piece and came up with some ideas for «fixing» those complaints. Now I absolutely love the piece.
About a month ago I came back because I wanted a watercolor-​style piece. I saw that Chris Borchik specialized in those types of tattoos, and we met and talked about what I was looking for. When I got to the shop, I liked his idea, but had a few things I wanted to change. He was receptive and more than willing to listen, and after a few minor revisions we were off and running.
The staff is very professional, the shop is clean, there’s artwork all over the place. I’m a huge fan of this place and will definitely give them my business in the future.

Always enjoy my time here. Jared is top notch when it comes to piercing knowledge and know how to get the job done safe, fast, and as painless as a piercing could be.

I’ve been working with AJ for a few years now. His work is amazing and, most importantly, he worked patiently with me as we drew and redrew and tweaked various elements until just right. I’ve had tattoos at other places previously and there is a noticeable difference in the healing process when done correctly. AJ does it right, so I didn’t scab and peel for weeks like I have in the past at other shops. I recommend this place to everyone who compliments the work. The common phrase that I hear from my tattoo-​free friends is: «If I were going to get a tat, I would want something like that.»

I’ve been to probably… five-​six tattoo/​piercing shops in my lifetime and this was one of the nicest. I had a nose piercing before (done in Chicago) and it was a pretty craptastic experience so when I decided to do it again I made sure to get it done right. I did some researching on Columbus piercing shops and according to
, Evolved is one of two places in Columbus that is a member of the association of professional piercers. Evolved was closest to me so I went there. And I’m very glad that I did.
Evolved seems hell-​bent on making sure that you, as the client, know that they are clean and sterile. I loved that. Sarvas pierced me and he was so kind and gentle. When a little tear involuntarily dropped from my eye, he wiped it with some gauze haha. I thought that was sweet. They offer discounts too… you get buy one get one (piercing) on Thursdays and 50% off on your birthday. And you get a coupon for a future jewelry purchase.
I’ve returned to Evolved a few times to either change jewelry (because I’m a scaredy cat) or get jewelry reinserted because i took the jewelry out and my piercing closed a bit. Each of those visits were great. The staff really seems to care about you when you’re there. And you wouldn’t expect that by just looking at them– c’mon, with all those tats and piercings… they look extra hardcore but they’re as sweet as can be.
I highly recommend Evolved.

Four words: Two for one piercings.
I’ve gotten my navel, inverse navel, and forward helix pierced here. The first two were by Sarvas, and the last by Colin. I really love this shop: everyone is professional and super passionate about body modification. They don’t treat you differently based on your age or lack of piercings/​tattoos, which is always a huge plus.
Every piece of jewelry is specially sanitized, and all the piercers are very dedicated to cleanliness. That’s a huge relief when it comes to worrying about healing! If you’re going in for a larger piece, such as a custom tattoo or serious piercing set, you should probably get an appointment. I’ve always just done walk-​ins since I’m willing to wait.
This shop is my go-​to piercing place when I’m in Ohio. No reason to go anywhere else!

Can’t get enough of this place! Friendly employees who can handle whatever it is you’re seeking: tattoo, piercing.
It is by campus so parking can be an issue. I found my honey hole though!
However, it’s well worth it! If you’re needing some art, then this place will have what you want. They have many artists each with different specialties. You can view their portfolios online ahead of time and get an idea of who you should consult with.
I chose traditional Japanese art and Mike Prickett is my artist. He is absolutely a master artist!
I will get all my tattoos here and with Mike. And that speaks for itself!

This was my second tattoo, and for the sheer amount of work I got done here, the price was great. It’s a bigger tattoo… whole upper arm.
It’s clean, and the artist explains everything they do to ensure hygiene and sterility of their equipment.

I love this place… everyone’s cool with you and the professionalism is very noticeable. They don’t play around! I’ve gotten pierced here and so have two of my friends. None of us ever had any issues. Whenever we had any questions or concerns, our piercer has been available to answer. I love the fact that I can recommend this place without hesitation (which I have many of times & I’m doing so now ;)

I’ve only received a piercing here, no tattoos. I thought my piercer, Jared, was very polite, professional, and confident, so that put me at ease. He was repiercing something I had before, so there was a bit of scar tissue. I am only giving Evolved 2 stars because the desk people were not helpful nor friendly, and I waited about 20 minutes before anyone even acknowledged my presence.

This place does great work and they charge a great amount. Evolved is clean, professional, courteous, and very expensive. If money is no object then come here and get you work done. If you want something done on the cheap look elsewhere.

I would go there for more piercing work but never again to get a tattoo. In the past I have been here for 3 tattoos, 2 piercing’s, and some gauge work.
The piercer I had I like her she’s great, she did my nipples and made the entire time a delightful experience.
The guy that helped me do my gauge work, is also a great person and did wonderful.
Now for my tattoo’s…
The guy was very nice and very helpful. I am not sure if it was him having a heavy hand or what but he did a large piece on my back that took 5 hours to do and after the first 3 the entire thing was an inch high. I did not think anything of it, until I had more work done and my other artist said how it is welted and it has actually scarred. It has been 5 years and it is still a risen tattoo, and the ink has also bleed out a bit. I have another tattoo on my leg, much smaller and I am in the process of getting that one covered up as well, because I don’t like the meaning and the ink has also bleed out.
I am guessing because the fact that they are located on high st. in the heart of OSU campus is why they over charge. But I did not feel I got my money’s worth.
