DoubleTree By Hilton Hotel Columbus – Worthington

Comfy beds. Large bathrooms. Good breakfast in the morning — not free but good. They have a phenomenal gym for patrons as well as –wait for it– a golf indoor range that is computerized. One hour for TWENTY dollars. Are you serious? All over that. There was no one waiting so the guy gave me a free extra half hour.
Decent restaurants nearby. Great place to stay in Columbus.

This place doesn’t have enough recent reviews to weed out some of these picky comments. I didn’t come here for anything special except for a weekend trip to columbus. Not sure if my experience was completely different because we are Hilton honors silver members and was placed on the honors floor but my experience was great! From the time we checked in Jasmine was a sweetheart, fast, efficient and really welcomed us to the hotel. The room was excellent! Decent size, bed was comfortable and everything was clean (trust me, we check). We had mini fridge and microwave which for me is always a must when your outta town.
The bed and pillows were beyond comfortable (which is usually the case anyhow with the Hilton brand). I’ve been to lots of hotels and this one meets my expectation in all areas, definitely worth the price.
(P.S this is conveniently located next to some of the top restaurants in columbus and a movie theatre (all in walking distance).

My wife and I were attending an event at the hotel last week and had some severe problems. First though, the good things.
The folks who work at this hotel are universally friendly and helpful, maybe the nicest I have seen at the many hotel stays we have had the last few years. The room was, well, roomy, had a nice couch, a comfy bed and the usual mediocre hotel bathroom (I hate bathroom hotel sinks with a passion, all of them).
The first night I thought I was coming down with a cold. Stuffed up and uncomfortable through the whole night. Oddly enough, it went away within an hour or so when I left my room.
During the first couple of nights, a friend posted on her FB page about how her bathroom ceiling had collapsed, revealing a lot of black mold. I’m wondering now how much of that was my problem.
So, beware if you have a severe allergy. This hotel could be dangerous for you. When we attend this event again, we will stay in a different hotel.

Normal hotel. Good enough beds. View is lame but that might be the area. Over all a good enough hotel for a conference or a short overnight trip would stay again. Nothing extraordinary good or bad.

Hotel is very worn out and tired looking.
Elevators broke down, hotel staff are not friendly except for a few. I think they are tired of the surroundings themselves. Please update and repair things.

I reserved a king room several weeks ago and tonight I was given a handicap accessible king room without a closet to hang my clothes. So I will have the wrinkled look tomorrow at my meeting. The room is old and uncomfortable and there are patches on the bathroom door and most walls, the carpet needs vacuumed and the bathroom counter is too small to place my amenities. I called the front desk and was told they are sold out sorry. I reserved this room weeks ago so there is no excuse. This is a horrible hotel, stay anywhere else!

Every year I attend a two-​day conference for my job, and every year they choose this location. Since I live in Columbus I can’t speak to the hotel portion of this DoubleTree. I’ll limit this to the conference center and break out rooms.
I tend not to comment much on service. Service experiences, good or bad, don’t mean much unless it is consistent over a number of visits. Service is like officiating during a sporting event: if it’s good, it’s often invisible. Having said that, service has more than invisible during the last four conferences I’ve had here. Stuff just worked. Food just got served. It wasn’t anything I had to concern myself with.
The rub, if there really is one here, is that the place is getting long in the tooth. Nothing, from the parking lot to the lobby to the ballroom, has been freshened up for quite some time and everyday wear and tear is beginning to take a toll. It’s not a hotel I would choose if I wanted to impress some key note speaker from out of town. The ballroom is underlit, and the P.A. system is weak at best. Not sure if it’s the speakers or the connections, but guests invariably say, «Okay, can you hear me now?» with alarming regularity. HVAC in most of the common areas seems to be fine, but it varies widely in the breakout rooms.
DoubleTree could use a facelift, and facelifts cost big bucks, but it might be worth it if they want to complete with the myriad of other hotels in the professional services park it inhabits.

Unfortunately, zero stars isn’t an option…
I’ve stayed here many, many times and the hotel keeps going downhill. Last straw this week. Horrible room, unclean and appeared to have many bloodstains on carpet in my room. Upon complaining to the front desk, the employee only laughed at my situation and offered no solution or apology. I checked out two days early and went up the street to the Hyatt, where I thoroughly enjoyed the rest of my week in Columbus. The staff and condition/​cleanliness of hotel continued to disappoint with this week’s experience sealing the deal… I’ll never spend another night here.

Hotel is ok, but theivery is rampant in the parking lot, so watch your car like a hawk. I stayed there and a work truck got ripped off on Monday and another on Tuesday. Cops won’t do shit except write a report and disappear back to guarding the donut shop.

The room we got has 2 double beds but we had requested a king. Ok, we’ll des leith that, but our room was like «we really don’t need this storage closet, let’s make another room.
It is at the end of the hall next to stairs and that is fine but there is a tiny closet and bathroom, no towel bars and like 8» of bathroom counter top.
The carpet in the elevator is dirty and the luggage cart was filthy. The room and rest of the hotel is reasonable clean.
The road construction outside makes getting to and from the hotel take forever during busy times.

Martina at the front desk is so kind and professional, she’s a breath of fresh air.

Not bad, but not particularly good. This was categorized as a 4 star hotel when I booked it… and it’s certainly not that.
It’s in a nice location and there are a lot of restaurants in the area. Traffic is awful, especially now since there is construction.
I have no major gripes, but the quality of the hotel overall is 3 star in my opinion.

I do not understand why this hotel has such low ratings, maybe it was bad before being updated? I have stayed here several times and never had an issue. The exterior can be deceiving, the interior is completely different: much more modern. The rooms are always clean, including the bathroom and the bed is comfortable. I have never used room service (nor in this hotel or any other for that matter) nor I have had the chance to use the pool or any other amenities. It is conveniently located and fairly priced. There is a Starbucks, some restaurants and a cinema at walking distance, which considering the suburban location is a plus. Parking is free.

Stayed for two nights. Seems like a older hotel. Not at all what I expected from a hilton chain. Rooms were ok– nothing special– no ref-​no DVD player. Bedspread had a stain when we arrived and room seemed slightly dirty — like hair on bathroom floor. Overall not worth the extra money (single ply toilet paper is not worth more than 2 stars)

I was happy with my stay here.
The beds were clean (plain white comforters and no weird dated designs meant to hide stains or anything here). The beds were the key thing I was worried about and I was glad to see they were inviting. The bathroom and room was otherwise clean and the décor was decent. The carpet and drapes might need an update soon, but I felt comfortable in the room. The bathroom shower was easy to operate, good water pressure and good hot water.
The wifi was free with my stay and could get a little slow, but mostly worked fine.
I ended up getting room service for lunch — a crab cake sandwich with fries and a hot chocolate — and it ended up costing me about $ 22. That was perhaps pricey but it was delivered quickly and was very good. They said to pur your tray outside your door when finished and it sat our there for like two days — but I did have an end unit around a corner so maybe they just couldn’t see it. I didn’t end up using any housekeeping, instead opting to keep the «do not disturb» sign up for the duration of my stay. I did realize that hotels offering free breakfast are actually pretty good deals if you will eat breakfast everyday. DoubleTree does not offer free breakfast.
If you want to go out for a meal, this hotel is in a small subdivision with several restaurants. A restaurant and bar called the Winking Lizard was almost literally across the street, and there was also a Chipotle and a movie theater nearby. No grocery stores in the immediately vicinity, but when I looked online there was a Kroger less than half a mile away. You would be able to at least walk to a couple restaurants from the hotel if you didn’t have a car. So the location itself was pretty convenient too.
The vending machines kind of sucked. The one on the second floor only accepted coins so I went to the front desk for change and then I realized the one on the first floor accepts $ 1 bills. But the vending machines only had water and soda. If you wanted any snacks or medicine or anything, you had to go to the front desk and buy it.
My room key got deactivated somehow by accident, which was annoying. They said if you keep it near your phone it can deactivate. I have never heard of such thing. So it was inconvenient for me to have to go around to the front of the hotel and get my key re-​activated after I went out to my car.
Overall though, I’d say I did enjoy my stay. At $ 109 a night for two nights and $ 277 after taxes and my room service meal, I just wish it would’ve been just a bit cheaper.

Don’t be spooked by the very dated exterior when you arrive at this hotel. The inside is totally updated and the rooms are an excellent value for the price. I’m not sure when renovations were completed, but both the lobby and my room appeared to be recently redone. My first floor room included a spacious bathroom with granite (or faux granite, but in a hotel, who cares?) countertop, excellent lighting, and a very clean shower with excellent water pressure. The sleeping area itself had comfortable beds with several pillows, conveniently located outlets, and a nice big flat screen on a rotating stand.
Despite being located in a typical pedestrian-​unfriendly, suburban highway exit area, there are several restaurants within safe walking distance.

Nice and big. good location near 270 and 23… but dated.
My bathtub had mildew stains and I mentioned that to the front desk… they were not able to get them out.
Overall OK.

I was here for a conference; however, I also stayed here at the hotel for four days.
As a conference venue, this place is top-​notch. The conference rooms are large and spacious, and the staff here was as helpful as possible. However, what surprised me the most was how amazing the DoubleTree catering service was. While most hotel catering services are lazy and focus more on being economic, their catering service was the nicest I have ever encountered — and this includes private catering services at weddings. The staff was amazing and the food was even better.
The hotel was upscale. The rooms were always clean and tidy. The pool was on the shallow side and the fitness center was small and modest. However, the one thing that really, really hurts this hotel in my rating was the air here. I’ve been to plenty of hotels during my life and I’ve never gotten sick off of the thick, unfiltered air like I have here. As soon as I would leave the hotel to go to the bar after training, I would be fine. I think they need to fix the AC here. Badly.

I’m taking time to update that having attended here as a meeting planner, I am reducing my review. While the majority of the front of the house staff is ok, I had problems with most a few of the «upper level» people to the point that my event is considering alternate locations for next year.
It’s a shame, because it’s generally a nice hotel, but when you overhear the front desk staff insulting your convention, there’s hardly a reason to stay.
