History

Established in 2006.

Founded in September 2006, ConfiDance Unlimited was created to provide quality private dance lessons at an affordable price.

In August 2009, ConfiDance started doing business as The ConfiDance Ballroom Academy. CBA was created to help anyone with any skill level learn how to not only dance ballroom, but how to teach ballroom dancing and make a living. ConfiDance Ballroom Academy has been granted approval by the developer of the program and writer of the DVIDA Syllabi to use our unique curriculum to train dancers in Columbus, Ohio and the surrounding area. Other companies may offer dance-​related services, but ConfiDance Ballroom Academy is the only one with a dance-​related vocational program.

Meet the Business Owner

Michael C.

Business Owner

Michael Curtis has been teaching ballroom dance for 10 years.

Dance began as a hobby for Michael. Then after taking lessons, he decided that he wanted to become an instructor.

Around 2006, Michael decided to become a certified instructor. He found DVIDA. This organization gave certification exams to those that wanted to show a higher standard. In order to be a member, Michael would have to pass this exam. This is when he found that there were no schools in Ohio to prepare you for that certification exam.

In 2009, Michael founded the ConfiDance Ballroom Academy. This program was created to give the help, that he didn’t have, to those that wanted to learn to be a ballroom dance instructor.

Michael has competed professionally in International Standard & Latin. He also holds certifications in American Smooth and Rhythm.
