Columbus Metropolitan Library – South High Branch

It is neat and well kept library, plus the stuff is helpful and nice. But often it is too noisy, basically groups will spend the time there around tables playing and talking; which defies the whole point of this space being a library to begin with: it looks more like a playground and entertainment space rather than what one would call an actual library. If you want to have some quite quality time studying, then look elsewhere…

This library is fantastic. It’s a branch that is connected with the main library downtown (96 South Grant Avenue). It’s not quite as big as the main library, and there are not as many books or CDS or movies there, but it’s more comfortable and cozy.
The librarians are first rate and very nice. Some have worked at the branch for years and really know their material inside and out. I’ve never had any problems finding a specific book or anything with them.
There are computers in the library. Sometimes they are hard to get, so make sure that you reserve a computer instead of just waiting for one to become available. The time periods 3:00 — 7:00 have the highest wait time because of the Homework Help Center computer usage. Even so I’ve generally never had to wait more than 30 minutes to use a computer.
The Homework Help Center is excellent for those K-​12 who need help getting their homework done. The library computer use in that section does not count against your general computer use, but bear in mind that you have to be working on homework to use the computers.
They also have a job help center available. The nice thing about this job center is that it is open the same hours the library is. Those who are looking for a job can get a computer for two hours instead of just one. You must be looking for a job or doing job-​related things while on these computers, however.
I could go on and on about the library, but it’s a fantastic place. If you are near South High I encourage you to go check it out!
