Through our programs such as community connections, USAAID, and the Open World CIP is able to bring foreign professionals with the assistance of the the federal government. The foreign professionals must have a J-I visa among other requirements to participate in our programs. We also hold two special fundraisers each year. The International Buffet and Silent Auction takes place in October and our Columbus International 5K race takes place in November.
History
Established in 1971.
For forty years the Columbus International Program has promoted international understanding through intercultural exchange. We have welcomed hundred of foreign professionals from all around the world to the Columbus community. Our community partnerships opended the door for foreign professionals to do professional training in their profession. We hold two successful fundraisers each year. The International Buffet which takes place during November will be in its 38th year. The buffet has showcased foods from international restaurants from all around the city. Our second fundraiser is the Columbus International 5K race. Last year was it inaugural year and 150 runners participated in the race in downtown Columbus.

Manager
Mr. Poeppelman is the Director of the Columbus International Program, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting international understanding through intercultural exchange. He has served in this position since 2008, coordinating the placement of numerous international citizens at professional development internships throughout Central Ohio. Additionally he has collaborated with the U.S. State Department and the Library of Congress in hosting several international delegations focused on democratic governance. Prior to working at The Columbus International Program, Mr. Poeppelman worked in investments for Nationwide Insurance, beginning in 1982 as a Securities Analyst. His responsibilities grew over the years as he built the Private Placement Program and eventually led the Fixed Income Asset Management team. This team managed over $ 40 billion in Fixed Income Securities for the general accounts of Nationwide Life Insurance Company and Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company.
