Established in 1997.

In 1997, in response to a growing demand for skilled craftsmen, John left his job as an HVAC specialist to open Columbus Handyman, a family owned business. John’s mission is to ensure that this company continually provides not only the highest quality workmanship but also the finest customer service in the business. Columbus Handyman services range from plumbing to kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling and basement finishes. They also do electrical work, interior painting, exterior painting and general handyman services and home repairs.

Very expensive and overpriced. I will never use these people again. They will rip you off! Stay far away. Recommend an estimate in writing if you are foolish enough to use them.

Initial quote for our job seemed too high so we asked for a revision. After receiving the revision, I submitted my half payment as requested and waited and waited and waited for someone to call to schedule the job. After three weeks of waiting I called and requested my money back as I wanted the job to be done ASAP and it had already taken way too long. Then it took over a month to get my money back, this took several phone calls also. It should be noted that my check was cashed within two days of writing it however it took them over four weeks to refund my money.

I called Columbus Handyman for an estimate on exterior woodwork on my house. They sent out a rep who went over the property and said I’d have an estimate in two days. 1 week later I called the company two times to get the estimate. The gentleman had a family emergency (understandable) and they needed to send someone else out. Second rep arrived. I was quoted 1 – 2 days on the estimate. I waited 4 days and called CH. the rep was out of the office for the week. Called Monday, no estimate was in the system. I was told to leave a message with the rep which I did. Called CH again on Thursday, still no estimate and no follow up from anyone from the company. I was instructed to leave a message on the owners’ voicemail. Which I did, and still, no one contacted me.
I had to follow up on multiple occasions with no answers and no solutions. I still have never heard from anyone in a month. If this is the kind of service they offer for an estimate, I would hate to see what they would do with my property. I do not recommend this company. If I could give a zero star rating I would.

I was referred to this business as I was new to the area and needed some minor repairs in my condo. Office staff was great. And the first guy who came to do an estimate was good, communicative and on time. But getting the actual work done — not good. Cancelled 3 times and then 2 no-​shows. When I called to tell them to forget it, I would get someone else, they did not even bother to call me back.

Very professional! I was contacted within 24 hours of my request for replacing 2 bathroom faucets. The handyman showed up within the time that was quoted and was proficient and knowledgeable about the repairs. Would definitely use them again for future projects.

My review is based only on the customer service, not the actual work. I scheduled someone to come to my home to give an estimate on some damage to my kitchen island. Actually, I sent them a note via their website, and then got a call from a woman at their office to schedule the appt. The gentleman arrived on the appointed day and was on time. He was very nice and even looked at a possible second repair I needed. He said he would email me an estimate, but he actually called later that day to give me a verbal one and it was reasonable. I have no qualms with calling them for the repairs once we are ready.

I must admit Columbus Handyman was not my first choice for a plumbing repair. The name itself just seemed kind of jackleg. LOL
After doing a Unilocal search and discovering that every plumbing repair company in and around Columbus was back logged — due to subzero degree temperatures, I «settled» for Columbus Handyman. I’m so glad I did!
Prompt, professional, knowledgeable, and reasonable! Don’t let the name throw you off like I did.
Shane, our technician, was awesome! He answered all of our questions and thoroughly explained step by step the repair process.
Our exterior spigot froze and cracked causing major flooding in our basement. Our total bill for his repair was around $ 200. The rate is $ 125 for the first hour and $ 50 for every hour thereafter. Shane cut, stopped the leak, and replaced the damaged pipes. Although Columbus Handyman cannot repair the major damage (foundation/​mildew) they were able to refer me to other companies. Those are whole other reviews for this ongoing nightmare!
I would recommend Columbus Handyman. At least check out their website, it clearly shows the repairs they are capable of doing.

I’m always a bit skeptical of handyman companies. Some of them seem pretty sketchy.
I’m happy to report that Columbus Handyman is totally on the level. We’ve used them for a couple things around the house that were beyond our skills. They capped a gas line for a long-​defunct gas grill and came out for an emergency garage door repair. Both times, the staff was helpful, respectful and efficient.
The company offers a wide range of services so if you need something done around the house and are looking for a good, local company to do it, look no further.
