This was the second time we ate here. The first time everything was great. The steaks were seasoned and cooked great and the service was excellent. This time(second time) the steaks were over cooked(ordered med-well but got well over well done), tough, dry and didn’t have much flavor at all. On top of the steaks the side of fries was a child’s portion. Best part of the meals were the $ 1.50 side salad. Very disappointed… :-(

I came here with another student after class. The atmosphere is small and casual. Nothing fancy, but efficient. I had a ribeye and it was very good. Our server was prompt and friendly. I never had to as for a refill because she always noticed when it was low. The service was great and food good. A nice little place to have a good meal.

Got the ribeye steak special with mac n cheese and fried pickles. If you don’t like fatty steaks steer clear of the ribeye. I don’t mind it so it was pretty solid. Especially for the price. The fried pickles were wonderful and the mac n cheese was mediocre. The texas toast was good especially when you dip it in that steak juice. My wife got the chicken fried steak with gravy and onions. I had a few bites and it was delicious. Not pretty, but delicious, and huge. My daughter had the chicken tender kids meal and it was pretty substantial for a kids meal. The tenders were fresh and pretty darn good. Overall everything was very solid and the service was awesome. The place is not pretty to look at but the food is bottom line. Good prices, good food and a robust menu.

Nothing special. Ribeye was drowning in Maggie sauce. Won’t be back. Service was good.

This place is the epitome of «never judge a book by its cover»! For someone who doesn’t know about the restaurant, it looks like a run down family ran butcher shop(well, it is). The good news is it’s clean inside! The staff is very friendly but can slow at times. That’s okay because the food was amazing! I’ve been coming for years but just recently brought my girlfriend and her 7 year old. We got the Thursday special which is a sirloin and 2 sides for $ 8.49 and she got the kids chicken fingers. You can’t beat that! Let’s just say I’ve had the same cut of steak from fancy places for double the price but half the taste. The 7 year old tried everything and this is exactly what she said«tastes like paradise in my mouth». She and I don’t care for fried green tomatoes(I actually hate them) but we tried some that my girlfriend got and it was pretty tasty. The fried okra and mash potatoes we on point also. Overall, if you’re someone who goes to eat at places for the food, you’ll love this place!

I don’t know what the hell I just tried to eat. I think they just through everything into a fryer! This is the best steak in town? This must of been the dollar store $ 1 steak:) Go to Waffle House if you are on the road. Please don’t stop at this place, keep on going or you may be going!!! Lol.

Went to Burt’s today on the recommendation of my sister. She told me that it was good and the prices were reasonable, but I wanted to see for myself. It’s Tuesday, so today is the T-bone lunch special day. From the outside, it looks like a log cabin. It’s right next to a liquor store and relatively close to a busy intersection, so if you aren’t paying attention you can drive right on by. As soon as you walk in, you’re on the butcher shop side of the building. You take a left past the meat case and there is the restaurant. It’s quaint, humble décor lets you know that you’re in for some good food. As soon as we sat down, the waitress got us our drinks and let us know the special for today. So needless to say, we didn’t have to ask. Me and my partner ordered the T-bone lunch for $ 8.49 and it came with one side(we ordered 2 sides but it was only $ 1 to add another side). I got it cooked well done with macaroni & cheese and mashed potatoes with gravy. The macaroni was a little bland first taste, but nothing a little salt and pepper can’t fix. The potatoes were good, and the gravy was what made those delicious. The steak, delicious! It was nice, juicy, and flavorful. I don’t know what(or if) they marinate their steaks with, but just the flavor alone is great. Any steak sauce would just take away from the flavor. We ate like kings(and queens) for under $ 30. Needless to say, that we will be returning to Burt’s.

The food is always good! They have great steaks and you can’t beat the restaurant prices. The fried pickles and chicken wings are also a hit. The butcher shop has great offers, too. I’ve had Boston butts and thick steaks to take home. The prices are higher but it’s worth the money. They’ll also dip the meats in their marinade at no charge. I’ve never been disappointed with their butcher shop. The only thing you have to overlook is the atmosphere. It’s just an old building that hasn’t been updated. Yes, there’s dust on the fake greenery. Yep, stains on the walls. Ugly tables and chairs? Yes, they have those. Can’t get over that stuff? Order take-out meals or from the butcher shop, but don’t skip this place!

Hands down, one of the best places to get a steak in Columbus, GA. Went for lunch with my co-workers and got the ribeye special and just the price had my ify. But when I got my meal I was amazed. Dont take my word from it, go try it and you too will be amazed.

Fresh cut steaks. It’s a hometown, home in the wall type of restaurant with no frills atmosphere, but you can get a nice steak for a low price. Great lunch specials. I have never tried buying meat from the butcher shop, but I’ve heard good things.

Where do I begin. I entered and seated myself around 4pm. Service was prompt and friendly. I had asked for lemon with my tea and the first think I noticed was I had no lemon. I then order the lunch special on the 10 oz T-bone. The T-bone I ordered was cooked medium rare like I requested, but the cut was so thin, it barely warmed the meat cooking it medium rare. The steak was full of fat and silver skin and there was no filet or porterhouse side to the t-bone steak. The baked potato was old, like it had been sitting around since lunch. It barely melted the butter and I could stick my finger in it… too cold to call warm. I told the waitress about the baked potato as I was paying and she said she wouldn’t charge me for it and that she would give me a tea to go. Why not just make sure you serve hot and presentable food, rather than not charge them for the potato? I was not impressed and I have had better food from here.

OMG! Where do I start? First off, I visited this place based on the raving reviews and now that I’ve been there, it makes me wonder if these same people who gave this place high marks are actually bad cooks, unsanitary cooks and poor housekeepers themselves! This place was filthy! As we walked in, despite seeing us walk in, were not greeted until they were ready to. When told we could seat ourselves, we quickly noticed that the chairs were dirty and the tops of the napkin dispensers were dusty! However, despite our better judgment, we decided to give it a shot praying that the food would taste better than the place looked. However, we made it a point to try and stick to items that didn’t need to be touched like fries, corn nuggets or onion rings and WATER! Prior to the food arriving, the server who took the order came out into the dining room and did the grossest thing… wait for it… BLEWHERENOSE! We immediately were disgusted and went searching for a manager so that we could cancel the order and leave. However, a cook that was on break saw(and heard) our concerns and assured us that the«snot bandit» would NOT be the one bringing out our food. We told him that we still weren’t interested and before we knew it, another person had brought out our food. When the food arrived, not only was the order wrong, but the sandwich was sloppy(I had ordered the steak tip sandwich) and cold. To save face, we decided to sit down and at least eat the corn nuggets. However, the rest was packed to go to take home to our neighbor’s dog to enjoy. I normally love the fact that I don’t carry cash but visiting this restaurant made me regret not having cash to pay with because I hated to give the«snot bandit» my debit card as I knew it would be contaminated. Uggg! Needless, to say, even the dog didn’t like the food(and he’ll eat ANYTHING)! I will never visit this place again and wouldn’t recommend that you do either!

We had the ribeye lunch special, which was good and a great deal! Also had fries green tomatoes and schnitzel finger appetizers… They were the best part. Along with the superb sweet tea! Good price, excellent service, wonderful food! We’ll be back!

I had very high expectation, disappointed! I think my steak was boiled in water and at least a half cup salty sauce poured over it. Not grilled, I’m pretty sure it never saw a fire, not crispy, Boiled! Not good!

I don’t usually write reviews but I felt that it was necessary. I’ll keep it short and simple. I had high hopes and expectations as a bunch of my buddies raved about the quality of steaks. What I was given wasn’t even close to quality. Take a look at the picture and be awed by the proportion of fat to meat. Not only was the ribeye mediocre. The fries and okra seemed like they were out for a while. I ain’t no food critic but this was unacceptable. As for the overall customer service. It took 30min to get my order. People who came in after left way before I did. The workers had no concern and made no attempt to amend the issue. So all in all, I wasted $ 18 for a steak and sides that I could’ve easily made myself. You can take your chances but that was the first and last time I will ever go to Burts.

This is the best steak deal you will ever find. The steak specials are $ 8.49 and feature strip, rib eye, and sirloin. They are huge and tasty, served with the perfect amount of fat on the steak. The place is an actual butcher shop where you can see the meat on display. From the outside this place looks like it might be the nicest place to eat in the ugliest trailer park imaginable but it is clean, the service is good and the food awesome. If in Columbus can you afford not to have a $ 8.49 steak? For sides we had corn nuggets, weird but good. Fried pickles which were simply delicious. They have 2 desserts each for $ 2 the boston cream pie and pecan pie. I favored the pecan pie more than the boston cream but both were tasty. Did I mention they were $ 2! Seriously this is a bargain for good food. Normally I don’t go out for steak I’m convinced I can buy better and cook better at home. Well they matched me so if I lived here I would just come here for steak.

I think I had high expectations from some of the other reviews. Myself and 3 coworkers all agreed we were going some place else next time. It wasn’t bad… just okay and I can get okay anywhere with better service and a nicer dining area.

Burt’s is something of a local institution. As such, you expect it to be a dumpy place in a dumpy area with great food. Well, it’s on spot with two of the three. The Wednesday lunch special is a 10oz ribeye and one side and a piece of toast for $ 7.49. It’s lunch, but they serve it until they close at 7:30pm. The dinner portion is a bigger piece of meat with two sides. The steak was pretty legit, especially for 7 bucks, though was overcooked for what I requested. I was super excited about the long list of sides available: mac and cheese, fried okra, fried pickles, mashed potatoes, fries, baked beans, green beans, baked potato, side salad, cole slaw, corn on the cob, white rice & gravy, vegetable medley, and corn nuggets. Too bad the mac and cheese tasted like it came from the refrigerated section of a grocery store(think Bob Evans) and they didn’t serve the fried okra with any kind of sauce. The weekly steak specials are on a big board outside and non-steak specials are on a smaller board inside… things like beef tips and rice for $ 5.50. And if you want to watch monster trucks on TV, this is definitely your go-to place. Burt’s meat is more worth the price than a Colombian prostitute, just don’t have high expectations for anything else.
