In Nicole’s absence tonight, Sara was our server again. Although Bruno’s seemed understaffed for a surprisingly busy Monday night,(people obviously looking for a good place to eat after Christmas shopping,) Sara did a very good job taking orders, making sure they were correct, and she was attentive to all of the customers assigned to her. Sara continued to keep a smile on her face, maintain a friendly and pleasant demeanor despite the increase in the normal number of customers. She was quick to take of the needs of all of us(4 adults and 4 children); kids ranging from 2 yrs old to 10 yrs old, without being intrusive or overbearing. Ron, the kitchen chef, continued to push quality food out of the kitchen at a steady pace.

Not a bad family place to go. Unfortunately, the place kinda mirrors 161 and is looking kinda tired. The pizza crust was very crispy and good. Not much sauce and not much flavor.

OMG the pizza crust is heavenly! It is light and crisp on the edges. So delicious! I can’t wait to go back again and try their pasta selection. Very nice and helpful staff too.

Bruno’s forces a bypass on the dining room for carry-out orders(you pick those up next door), so I can’t comment on the décor or sturdiness of tables, etc. Service for the pick up was fast and friendly — no issues. Bruno’s uses really fresh and fantastic toppings. The peps were spicy, the cheese was cheesy, but the shrooms really stole the topping show as they were fresh and thick cut, giving the pie just a great shroomy flavor. The crust at Brunos is thicker than NY or Ohio style and fairly doughy(but not overly dense, despite the lack of air pockets). What my pizza really missed was a great sauce. Bruno’s sauce may be fantastic, but there was just too little on the pie to tell. So, if you like fresh, quality toppings and a thicker crust, give Bruno’s a try. If you like sauce, order extra and let me know how it is.

This isn’t the most thorough review as I go here for pizza and the occasional salad. Hey, I gotta give the appearance of healthy eating once in a while. When it comes to pizza, Bruno’s knows what they’re doing. No frozen dough, fresh toppings and their sausage is very good. They manage their toppings well, not too little or too much, as Goldilocks would say, «It’s just right.» They are consistent, which isn’t always the case with small operations, and it’s consistently very good. They don’t deliver and I drive past numerous pizza places to buy mine here, so that says something about their quality. I have been to Bruno’s approximately 1 kabillion times and have always been treated well by the staff. From the kitchen staff, when picking up, to the waitstaff and bartenders(there’s a bar called Springers connected, but separate from the restaurant’s main seating area) I have never received sub-par service. Why 4 stars? Their salads are lame: iceberg lettuce, julienned carrots and shaved purple cabbage(maybe it’s radicchio. who knows?), … pretty sure it’s straight out of a bag. A step up to fresh greens would be a welcome change. Additionally, the large dining room is out-dated, it’s like a time warp. Maybe it was considered ambiance in the distant past, but through today’s eyes, it’s just looks tired.

I have been here twice and both times can be summarized as «good food, bad service». Really the food is quite tasty and everything I have ordered I liked very much, huge portions too. However, our waitress was incompetent. We had to hunt her down repeatedly(finally found her up at the front standing around talking) to get something. She was mostly unpleasant when she was serving us. Now she was very young, probably teens or early twenties, so we cut her a break on her attitude as she’s probably new to the service industry and is still learning, so we didn’t make a big deal of it. The next time we came in we had 2 or 3 different servers(hosts?) come to our table so we weren’t sure who was actually serving us. Because of this my boyfriend had to ask 3 seperate times for a condiment before he actually got it. Overall I’d say the place suffers from being understaffed. I think if they fix their service issues it will be a pretty decent place for good italian food.

OK at best. Not a big fan. Passing through on business(I’m an Italian from Chicago). Wilty lettuce in the salad(for which they knocked off 25% of my bill so that was nice), veal parm was just ok and a bit over done. WAYTOOMUCHSAUCE on top of the food. Let the food shine! Homemade pasta was actually pretty good though, really good flavor. And only Budweiser products? Yuk.

I’ve been driving by this place for over a year and have always wanted to check it out. I finally decided to get some take out and well… needless to say I went back 3 times that week. Their meatballs are incredible, pasta is homemade, and the sauce reminds of my mother’s. Order anything with meatballs and you won’t be disappointed.

On «boys night out» the 4 y.o. and his Dad went for pizza. Seemed like a great choice– more Italian than some chain, a little through-back to the ambiance(in truth, not through back, but seriously not updated.) I joined them at the end — to find a table still full of food. They ordered pizza that had no flavor — really, the sauce was questionable at best, the dough, if you could call it that, was like cardboard — and the meat was spicy, yet without flavor. The place smelled like old leather, er, vinyl. The waitress was nice. We probably wouldn’t return.

I went to Bruno’s recently and was quite impressed with a few things. The Chicken Parmesan was freaking awesome the second best I have ever had behind one of my friend’s mother who is Italian. The gnocchi was decent, meatballs were delicious and quite large. The Ravioli was by far the greatest Ravioli I have ever had there seemed to be just a little bit of spinach inside them. Also the Italian sub looked delicious and extremely filling. Next time I will be trying out the Italian sub.

Been here 3 or 4 times now and it hasn’t disappointed. Got the Brunos Coffin 2 of those times and I dare you to find a larger, tastier meatball sub(aircraft carrier??) The side salad was nice and fresh. My only complaint from our last experience was the bread. They were sandwich rolls instead of dinner rolls. Based on the other reviews, I’d have to give a cautious 4 stars. I just didn’t see much to complain about.

If you cannot go anywhere else then go here. The food is OK and the décor and atmosphere is OK. The service was poor. Think about making a longer trip if needed.

My familiarity with this restaurant dates back more than 20 yrs. It used to be owned by the original founders of the Monte Carlo restaurant(which was torn down to build a Home Depot). It was a great restaurant for spaghetti and meatballs. Pizza was secondary in those days. The last time I was there, the spaghetti was lousy. So I’d say skip it. I do.
