My friends and I just returned from eating lunch here. The food was poor, as was the service. We tried the Super Burrito, the lunch Chimichanga, and several different enchilada options, all with chicken. They fillings appeared to be just chicken, leaving only the sauce ladled on top to impart anything but just chicken flavor. You’d be much better off visiting El Vaquero or Rancho Allegre.

If you like Mexican food and your near campus this is the place to go. Their salsa is absolutely delicious full of flavor and just spicy enough. Service is cordial and prompt. Prices are more than fair and the food will leave you wanting more because of the taste, but unable to eat more. the Salsa Verde is the best I’ve ever had and give many kudos to the creator. Over all great place to go if your craving some Mexican food.

Prior to becoming Bohemio’s, it was Xalisco. Family owned and operated, they cooked up quick, cheap and delicious food. I was consistently impressed with my meals. Fast forward– the small grocery/convenience store portion is gone. The family atmosphere is gone. Most importantly, the amazing food is gone. I have to say, while I’m giving Bohemio’s a single star-rating, it was one of the most comical restaurant visits I’ve ever had. The server was a very nice young man. He seemed to be a bit out of his element, and seemed quite young(15? 16?) He took our orders quickly(nachos for me, cheese quesadilla for the lady) and brought us out some chips and salsa. Scratch that– marinara sauce! Not even joking here, we were served tortilla chips with marinara sauce. The chips were stale– probably a week or so. At this point, I hadn’t put two and two together(remember, I ordered the nachos). I hoped that it was the end of a bag and my nachos would be better. They weren’t. Stale chips, a few jalapeños, some strange white substance(expired sour cream? God, I hope that’s what it was!), a sprinkle of lettuce and shredded cheese. I ate three chips. The quesadilla– it was a flour tortilla filled with melted mozzarella. No spices, no sauce of any kind. It was edible. We kind of joked that we thought the place was being robbed while we were there and the robbers were trying to make food to keep up appearances. «Is this salsa?» «I don’t know! It’s red!» «Where do they keep the chips?!?» Our server returned after 10 minutes or so and asked if everything was ok. We politely told him about the nachos and he asked what he could do to make it up to us. We said that the check would be lovely. It took him a few minutes, but he eventually brought the check out. The Quesadilla was about two dollars. My nachos had originally been priced at $ 9.95. That was crossed out and $ 7.95 was written below it. The $ 7.95 was also crossed out, and $ 5.00 was written below. Guess what? THAT was crossed out as well, and below was written $ 1.50. I laughed when I saw it and left a $ 10 on the table. (We wound up going to Taco Bell for quesadillas. They were delicious!)

I’ve been here maybe five times and each time I’ve been almost the only customer present. That’s a shame, because Bohemio’s food, service, prices, and drinks are all more than acceptable. The restaurant is clean and pleasing to the eye. Every meal has hit the spot. The staff seems so pleased when anybody comes in that they are naturally friendly. The a la carte taco fajitas are stout with vegetables and meat and are delicious. The tapatio(chicken breast with chorizo and cheese) is not the best i’ve tasted, but it was perfectly fine. In sum, I urge you to give Bohemio’s a try: It’s a nice little restaurant run by decent-seeming people who purvey good food at decent prices.

I’ve just moved to a different end of campus than I’m used to traversing, and on an expedition to find out what was close by, my roommate and I decided to take a chance on Bohemio’s. Bohemio’s isn’t much from outside, in fact given the neighborhood, you might be inclined to just walk by assuming that the inside might be greasy, dark, and dingy. But let me inform you! The absolute opposite is true! Inside Bohemio’s is bright, clean, and lively. It’s seat yourself in this establishment, and while the tables are a bit close together for my fat ass, we found room and a waitress quickly handed us a menu. While we poured over the hefty selection of food and thought about which alcoholic beverages to pour down our thirsty throats, a man sat at the front of the restaurant and serenaded all the diners with the most beautiful, heartfelt, and soulful Mexican songs. Alone with his guitar he was a talented act, able to provide trumpet accompaniment with only his mouth. Truly this alone is reason to stop in at Bohemio’s. I ordered the Quesadilla Supreme which was supposed to come with shredded beef. Our waitress informed us that they were out of beef tonight and asked if chicken would be okay. Sure! And the dish was no less due to lack of beef. The shredded chicken was juicy and flavorful, and the Quesadilla itself was so packed full of meat, cheese, and veggies that I could only eat half of it. For $ 7.95 it was an incredible deal. My roommate ordered the Chimichanga Platter, with one beef and one chicken Chimichanga. Like I mentioned above, they were out of beef, so instead one was filled with shredded pork which I am told was really tasty. We were both very impressed with our food which was tasty, fresh, not greasy and above all, cheap. The atmosphere was beyond charming and I asked the waitress when to expect live music. She informed me every Friday night between 7pm and 10pm. Unilocal! I command you to go eat at Bohemio’s! I know I’ll probably be here once a week.
