Beyond The Sea Aquarium & Pets

Though the mural on the front window looks hand painted, I wasn’t that impressed with the store. It didn’t have to do with the customer service. The gentleman behind the counter greeted me and answered any questions I had. I noticed he was a quieter guy who kept to himself, which isn’t a problem either. A friendly Yorkie greeted me as well by running up and sniffing my feet and hand as I went to scratch its silky little head.
No, what I didn’t care for was the look, feel and smell of the place. Fish were what was primarily sold and the saltwater tanks looked pretty well (at least from what I could tell). The freshwater tanks however were dirty and the fish didn’t look too healthy which, even if I’ve seen it before in pet stores, is still not a good thing. The lizards, snakes, newts and crabs also looked fairly well taken care of (again, at least from what I could see). But the place just didn’t give me the impression of cleanliness or happiness. One of the dogs, of which there are two and they belong to the owner, peed on the floor right in front of me. Now, I don’t have a problem with allowing pets to roam in the store and I realize that «accidents» happen. I’ve seen it happen at major pet stores that allow you to bring your pets in the store. However, it stunk like pee in the store, like it had happened before and wasn’t cleaned up. Nothing else looked kept up, either. The entire carpet looked old and nasty.
