In 2004, I got my first Sony Cybershot point-​and-​shoot camera. What a game changer! Then, while in college at The Ohio State University, I had my first taste of what it was like to use a D-​SLR camera. After a few years of saving, on October 25, 2011 (a monumental date that I will never forget!), I purchased my Canon Rebel T-​3. That night, I read the entire manual, and then walked around my apartment for hours, taking pictures of everything. The chair in the corner. The lamp shade. My plants. The circle-​stitched pillows from Ikea. Exactly 7 years (to the day!) after receiving my first point-​and-​shoot, I got a text from a friend. It was a picture of a beautiful diamond ring on her left ring finger. Why do I mention this? Because 2 months later, she texted me to ask if I would do her engagement photos. I was elated that someone trusted me enough to capture those moments for them. The point is, she gave me the courage to offer to help others capture their special moments as well!
