University of South Carolina

I’m the sister of a student here and I’ve been several times to help her move in and visit. I love this campus – it’s beautiful, filled with tons of foliage and great architecture that ranges from Old Americana to all-​glass modern. The city around it is clearly catered to the college students as well, and it seems safe enough to walk alone. I don’t know a lot about the education, but so far it seems to be doing well for her. :)

Head to the Historic Horseshoe and look for the McKissick building for the start of an awesome campus tour! The Horseshoe is the «money shot» of campus so snap a few photos of the picturesque scene! While you’re there, head over to the South Caroliniana Library – they oldest free-​standing collegiate library outdating Harvard by 1 year. At the South Caroliniana say hello to J.R. McKissick – he’s resting ON campus to this day and keeping an eye out for the Gamecocks! Eat in the Russell House – the student union or head over to the student-​run restaurant, the McCutcheon House! The Colloquium Café is upscale dining on a campus budget and looks like it should belong in a museum!

I got my associates from Midlands tech, but was able to use South Carolina’s campus for particular needs during my 2 year tenure. It is an incredible college! I remember the first time I went to the library, I had got lost going back to the car.
It’s is like a whole different city inside Columbia. I could’ve asked and even looked on a map, but seeing the historic building architecture was my very own lost and found walkthrough. All though I was lost I was able to walk right into The Horseshoe and find it’s beautiful features slowed my walk and made me think about my transfer to USC. The giant pond and the fountains they have make it even more elegant and the library I used had very helpful librarians.
I’ve been to a USC football and baseball game and they are both very exciting! SEC football is tough and when you are back to back college world series champs, the baseball games become worth watching all 9 innings. I’ve also worked to put the basketball court together. It’s amazing that the floor get’s taken up into individual pieces. I always thought it was in place, but now I know that it is hard work to set up that basketball court.
They also have a high tech, make sure you bring someone who goes there workout facility. The Strom Thurmond facility is great to work-​out or play a pick up game of basketball. USC has everything you like about a college and it is on the top of my list of colleges to transfer to. I look forward to writing a review on my time at USC, but until then a preview is just as good from what I got from my visits there.

I visited the University of South Carolina for an interview with the graduate school program last Friday and the campus is spectacular.
The Horseshoe (quad) symbolizes the history and true beauty of Columbia, SC. The buildings are historic and are beautiful pieces of architecture.
The campus boasts its own movie theater, drama theater, three like new stadiums/​arenas for football, baseball, and basketball, a state-​of-​the-​art workout facility Strom, resourceful library, and giant pond/​fountain. Additionally, there are many campus dining areas on campus and the weather is exceptional!
I badly want to be accepted into this university!

Top notch University. The leading research and educational institute in South Carolina. Annually rated in US News for various categories.
Went for Graduate School, and loved the staff, student-​body and educational opportunities. Columbia is a great town, not too large to get lost in like NYC. nor an empty typical college town like most. centered in cornfields or the such.
