Serenity Begins Within

If you’re looking to relax and melt some stress away in 60 minutes, this is a great place to begin. I purchased the $ 65 for $ 75 via Unilocal,and there was no problem using it the next day.
Mariea was my massage therapist. She is professional and caring, and she listened to my complaints about my most problematic areas, reducing the tension in my neck and shoulders. I’m feeling much more at ease today, thankfully.
The ambiance is warm and welcoming — I especially like the idea of the themed rooms. I’d recommend this small, local spa to anyone who needs a little «me» time.

Are you like me and deal with a chronic disorder like Fibromyalgia, Lupus, Ehler Danlos, Rheumatoid Arthritis/​Arthritis, and other annoying junk that causes sleep problems and regular pain and limited movement?
See, I have mild EDS, as well as osteoarthritis. My sleep is a series of light 30 to 90 minute naps. EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. I have abnormal alpha waves and get very little time in the deep sleep mode we need. Between the pain that makes me change position every hour, and the weird alpha waves, I have been an exhausted woman for a very, very long time. I get up every morning feeling just as exhausted as when I went to bed, and very foggy headed. I want so very badly to SLEEP and not hurt all night and all day.
Last night, Jenn spent around an hour with me, creating an entire experience designed to help my tense, overworked body and mind to chill out. The sounds, the scents, the temperature, the touch, her voice, the technique… ALL catered to me letting go and getting some time in that deep relaxation I don’t get when I «sleep.» And no, there is no «up selling» or any of that malarkey, because if you know me… you know that ain’t gonna fly!
You do not get this experience at chains, or anywhere else. EVERYTHING, including the waiting area, is built around helping your muscles and mind to let go.
How much is your copay for a doctor’s visit for sleep meds or stress or backaches or a million other things that bodywork can relieve? And then how much is the bill you get later? And how much is your prescription? I’ll bet it’s a lot more than visits with Jenn.
Today, I woke up feeling alert and with my brain functioning. One visit made a difference. I can’t wait to see what more time and work can do.

Not your typical massage place. If you are the type of person who longs for a great massage with no B.S. attached, Serenity is the place to go. First let me say that if you’ve ever been massage envy, they don’t believe in starting on time or giving you your full hour. For a old young guy like me I look to get what I paid for. And seeing that commercial massage places have therapists that expect gratuity for poor work makes going to Serenity that much better. I’d recommend to anyone who wants a great feeling body fresh from this rigors of stress and hard work.

This is my first ever review for any personal service received. Let me first say that I have been to this establishment before, but not for a massage service (which I will review shortly). I was there about a year or so ago to get a facial from a woman named Marci. To say the least, this woman was just slapping chemical after chemical on my face, which caused 2^nd degree burns and had the audacity to charge for it (I did get my money back). So, back to the original review, right when I walked into Serenity Begins Within, all the terrible memories from Marci’s service flashed before me and I wanted to bolt out of there, but was caught by Jenn so I guess I had to stay. Jenn character and demeanor completely through me off, especially after I told her about my previous experience at her establishment. This is a very kind, funny and humble woman and in no way made me feel rushed (I was 5 mins late for my massage). She simply sat in front of me and addressed my tense muscle concerns. Next, She showed me the different themed rooms (Indian, Grecian, Parisian…) and ended the tour with my massage room, Italy :-)
The massage began:
Let me tell you that I have had many, many, MANY massages and this one takes the prize.
Not only did she give me (to my definition a real) deep tissue massage, she also stretched my limbs and large group muscles! Furthermore, she implemented hot stones (that was not in the service description?!) and warm towels over my tense muscles. The head massage was pure bliss. God is working through this woman’s fingers! Parts of my brain came back to life, I just know it!
Throughout the entire massage, Jenn proved to be a rare breed – someone who knows when to speak with you and when to let you relax and take in the treatment.
By the way my massage was for 60mins. I got there at 1:05pm and out of the treatment room at 3pm… Jenn did not even mention the session was going over its time limit. (Personally, I think she wanted to compensate for my experience with the once employed Marci, which I did not feel Jenn needed to do at all, but again it was not mentioned and the price was the same.) This is a business woman for sure and she knows how to take care of the customer.
Summary:
Jenn is truly blessed with skills and knowledge. For pete’s sake she give cancer patients free massages! This spa is remarkable on the inside (I wish the outside could reflect that, but we work with what we’ve got) and it is not lacking in any amenity as far as spas go. I have found my permanent masseuse and I hope you give her a try, because you will certainly not regret it.
