The Prader family began Lighthouse Learning Center in Columbia, IL in 1997. Since that time we have expanded our services to Waterloo, Cahokia and Freeburg. We remain a locally owned family business that is dedicated to the highest quality care for your child. We are constantly improving and upgrading our programs to better serve our families. We provide a balance of loving care and academic encouragement.

As part of the Illinois State Board of Education Preschool for All Program, our State Certified Teachers ensure Kindergarten preparation for your child.

The Lighthouse is licensed by the State of Illinois Department of Children and Family Services as a child care facility and receives regular inspections by the Fire Department and County Health Department.

All Lighthouse Centers are Star-​Rated by the ExceleRate Illinois Program and Nationally Accredited by NAC.

Established in 1997.

Lighthouse is Family owned and Operated! The Prader family of Waterloo built the Columbia Lighthouse in 1997. Mary Kay Prader, RN and David Prader have expanded include centers in Columbia, Freeburg, Waterloo, Cahokia and 5 area public schools including Columbia, Dupo, Waterloo (2), and Freeburg Elementary schools. We offer full and part time child care for School Age children year round at the centers and at the Schools.
