Established in 1984.
Dr. Joel Johnson has been practicing dentistry in the Northeast Columbia community for 27 years, his entire career in dentistry. He graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1974. He attended the University of South Carolina and graduated with a B.S. in Biology in 1978. He started Dental School at the Medical University of South Carolina in May of 1980 and Graduated in May of 1984. Dr. Johnson moved back to Columbia with his family and has been practicing here since May 1984. Dr. Johnson is married to the former Pamela Hook, also from Columbia. He and Pam have two sons, Joel Jr. and Jeffrey.
Dr. Johnson’s dental practice is a family and general dentistry practice. He also does Cosmetic Dentistry, including bleaching, porcelain laminate veneers, crowns and bridges. He is an Invisalign Certified Dentist and will be happy to assist you with your orthodontic needs through Invisalign. He is also an Under Armour authorized provider and can make customized mouthguards for any sport.

Dr. Johnson is on the Board of Trustees at Palmetto Health Baptist Hospital and just rotated off of the Palmetto Health Richland’s, Children’s Hospital Board. He is the «Team Dentist» for the University of South Carolina and has been for the past 17 years. Dr. Johnson is active in the Academy for Sports Dentistry. Dr. Johnson has lectured throughout North America and Canada concerning Sports Dentistry. Dr. Johnson has given back to his profession by volunteering at the United Way’s «Children’s Dental Clinic» for 27 years.
Dr. Johnson is a member of Spring Valley Baptist Church and has been since 1984. He plays the drums in the «Praise Band» for the Contemporary Service at his church. Dr. Johnson has traveled several times for mission trips associated with the Southern Baptist Convention. On each of these trips, besides sharing the Gospel, Dr. Johnson performed Dental Services daily for anyone in need.
