Dr. James Nyland

has been practicing pediatric dentistry in Columbia for over 30 years. He received his D.D.S. degree at Ohio State University and completed his residency at Columbus Childrens Hospital in Ohio.

Dr. Alexis Collins

was born in Pittsburgh, PA but grew up in Irmo, SC. As a high school student at Irmo High School, she spent the hours after school at Dr. Nylands pediatric dental office. It was at this office that her love of pediatric dentistry began. Dr. Collins graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Clemson University. After college, Dr. Collins moved to Charleston, SC for her dental education at the Medical University of South Carolina. Following completion of her Doctorate of Dental Medicine degree, Dr. Collins completed a two year Pediatric Dentistry Residency at MUSC and specialized in infant through adolescent care with extra focus on growth and development and special needs dentistry.
