History

Established in 1947.

Started after WWII in a tiny Washington St. store by Mr. Dan Roth. In the ’50’s he added a larger location on Assembly St., and both stores operated untill the late ’60’s when the original Washington St. location was closed. The 2400 sq. ft. Assembly St. store was in the way of some urban revitalization, and in ’82 the store moved to the current location on Main St.

Throughout it’s history, many of the internationally popular entertainers would wander in. Even at 11 or 12, word spread quickly about Michael Jackson’s visit and the doors had to be locked for his protection!

After about 55 years of six days a week, the owner decided that we all needed a «weekend» like most other workers, and started a schedule of Tues.-Sat. with Sun/Mon closings… except at Christmas time!

The current owner joined his Great Uncle Danny in ’78, and took over in ’88, and nothing has been the same since!
