Business Owner

In 1988 Joel graduated from Pacific Union College, located in the Napa Valley, with two bachelor degrees — business administration and international communications. Following graduation, he was employed as an Underwriting Specialist in the Risk Management Department of the world headquarters of the Seventh-​day Adventist Church. In 1991, he accepted a job in the Risk Management Department for Loma Linda University Medical Center («LLUMC»).

In 1997 he was hired by the Redlands law firm of Ziprick, Schilt, Heinrich and Cramer, LLUMC’s general counsel. In 2003 he worked in the litigation firm of Slovak, Baron and Empey, in Palm Springs. In 2005 Joel began his own law firm in Redlands, where he currently practices.

He is also an adjunct professor at California Preparatory College. He was on the board of the Redlands Chamber of Commerce from 2002 until 2005 and was the President of the Chamber for the year 2004. His wife is Judy, they have a son, Cameron and daughter, Cassandra.
