The result is a studio with an impressive range of body art talent against a back drop of a dedicated staff! It will has 5 private rooms with a flat screen televisions to enjoy while you recieve your body art, a large waiting area with internet TV, a pool table, and wi-​fi access while you wait! It’s vital in our construction, that we provide soothing materials, and design to keep the focus where it should be: great body art with the additional of relaxation.

Pens & Needles is a member of the Colorado Environmental Health Agency (CEHA) and exceeds the standards set by the El Paso County Health Department, with its staff working closely with the organization to establish practices that ensure the highest levels of safety and cleanliness.

History

Established in 2008.

This Pens & Needles Custom Tattoo Company location was created in 2012, but the saying on ‘pins and needles’ was old school which means tense with anticipation. Hence our reference which is a colloquialism for the basics that you need in addition to an idea to create the customers work of art (pens, mechanical pencils, artistic talent, and tattoo needles) was created in 2008.

There will be much history to create in this new location, as it will be the new store front of Pens & Needles! This location will be traditionally inspired, and designed to flow seamlessly with the constructed architecture. While the lure of art influence and sleek fashions has infiltrated the body art scene, the beauty of more classically designed studios continues to capture what’s important to us: Comfort, Quality, Superior Artwork, and Customer Service.

In late 2006 I met one of the artist at this location Austin Romesburg, and in 2008 Anthony Arciniega. They gave so much to the art of tattooing it influenced my life and became my path to become involved. Their energy, vitality, and immediate drop-​dead knowledge to recognize what you are thinking, or saying, and willing to create were incredible. In combination with their knowledge, and trust in me to capitalize on their careers, and dreams Pens & Needles Custom Tattoo Company 1 was formed!

The primary purpose every Pens & Needle business is to show off «great artist». I pick not only artist whom I feel have the strongest, but the most unique voices and talent in this industry. This location is special as it was built specifically for us! «I wanted that transition from old to new style tattoo parlors. Best place in the springs to get a tattoo. I went with Christy and she is insanely talented with what she does. I’ve given her an idea and trusted that she would take it where I wanted. I am beyond happy with her and the studio for being extremely professional and making me feel welcome!

I have been debating getting a tattoo since the age of 16 but haven’t been comfortable with a single tattoo artist over the years so I kept putting it off over and over again. My itch to get a tattoo finally got too strong this summer so I finally decided to go out and get one on a whim. My friend recommended I try Pens and Needles 2 so I took a chance and called and luckily they were very accommodating. I immediately got in with Christy and she turned out to be amazing. At first I was concerned about the size and was sure she could’ve made it smaller but the more and more I look at it, the more and more I fall in love with it! Even though it’s just a simple quote, she matched my dream font perfectly. More than that though, she made me feel comfortable. Since it was my first time and I had a slight fear of pain she made me feel relaxed and went along with my humor and made it go by pretty fast. The whole thing took a little over an hour but time flew by so fast. Overall it was a clean, great and friendly environment with easy to trust and amazing artists! I highly recommend them!

I liked Raven’s portfolio from what I’d seen online and decided to schedule a consultation with him. I told him what I wanted and he told me to put a deposit and choose a date for him to work on my back — I specifically told him that it was important for me to see what he designed beforehand, and he told me the sketch up would be ready in a couple days. I e-​mailed sketches of what I liked, and put a deposit down for the next week. A couple days go by, no phone call or e-​mail. I called the place to make sure he would call me before my appointment date to review my sketch and measure my back, and the reception girl told me that he would get back to me the next day. Next day, no news. It was 2 days until my appointment date with Raven. Next day, still no call or e-​mail. I don’t regret losing my deposit, because I would much rather lose $ 40 as opposed to dealing with someone so unprofessional. He obviously doesn’t care much for his potential clients. Wouldn’t recommend.

Matt Brown & his ability to create a tattoo of nearly any style by working closely with his clients and listening to their ideas, translating them into a work of art that looks great on their skin. When I asked why he doesn’t have a specialty, Matt explained, «It’s always been my belief that a good tattoo artist ought to be able to tattoo anything the client wants.»
The idea might sound simple, but it’s a reflection of his customer-​focus. While personally tattoo artists may have very distinct artistic styles, tattooing should be about how the artist can turn a client’s vision into a personalized tattoo. In some studios, artists have a tendency to want to do their art their way – a great Artist like Matthew never projects his ideas onto your skin, unless you ask him to.
Matt Brown has always been my Personal Favorite Tattoo Artist. He continues to pursue art through his favorite medium, the human body. Take a look at his portfolio. Matt’s been slinging ink for years & continues to hone his skills in all tattoo styles. The most challenging skill to perfect is as a portrait tattoo artist. Not only does Matt Brown meet this challenge, but he has earned the reputation as one of the best portrait tattoo artists I have ever seen.
He & his work has built a name for himself as a Phenomenal Artist. With a faithful clientele from all over the States and with his own ideas of how a tattoo studio should be ran, Matt has had his Own Tattoo Studio & ran it with Professionalism & Quality & that to me, is untouchable.
Matt Brown knows there are a variety of reasons for someone to get a tattoo. But the one thing that every one of his clients has in common is they want a quality tattoo, by a talented artist, in a clean professional atmosphere. my friend just came back from there and got work done from Raven. a simple bible verse in cursive on her rib cage. once he was done, we noticed it was completely crooked, not evenly spaced. he claims he had been tattooing for 20 years, also he said «I had to completely free hand this part so I hope it’s okay.» I sat there and watched him bob around from listening to his music, as if he didn’t even give a fuck that he was putting something permanent on another persons body. the verse was short and he charged her $ 150 for it, he was extremely heavy handed, made that stupid ass remark at the end. and when I pointed out that it was crooked, he said «thats what happens when you put a 2D paper on a 3D body.» bullshit! he could have let my friend know if there was any risks. and once he was done he didn’t speak to us or say bye, hope to see y’all again. he’s a piece of shit and should be embarrassed to call that his work, now she has to get it covered up or live with a shitty tattoo. DONT GO TO RAVEN!!! HE SUCKS.

Updating my review with another 5 stars! Austin completed my tatoo this week — it’s perfect. Just what I wanted. Fun to hang out with him again. He’s veeerrry careful with the cleanliness aspect of his job and is dedicated to getting the colors just right. And I can now report that he’s very sweet to his mother too ;) (don’t be embarrassed Austin — that is very cool and speaks volumes about the kind of person you are)! Thanks for the awesome ink Austin. See you again in January!

Excellents across the board for this shop and my tattoo artist, Joey. It was my first tattoo. I was a little nervous about getting everything right, so I did my research on several recommendations I received from friends in the area. The front desk experience was great. They showed genuine care for me and explaining things to me. When I went in, the environment was pristine. Joey was so helpful and friendly, any notion of nervousness I might have had was gone instantaneously. He made me feel so comfortable and explained everything to me. My tattoo came out great. It was way better than I expected and way less painful that I thought it would be. And he was very sensitive to the fact that it was my first tattoo. I’m so excited to visit for my next one. I highly recommend this shop and Joey — if you’re lucky enough to get him.

His line work is great, and he also is helping me design a cover up for a youthful mistake. The shop is very clean, everyone is super friendly and nice.
