Dr. Sweet’s Bakery

My husband purchased a chocolate cake for me for my birthday. It was amazing! One of the best desserts I have ever had. We have visited the store a couple of times and each time, our purchases were tasty!

They not only rescued me with a last min birthday cake! It was delicious and looked great decorated with a football theme!

I’m saddened by the quality I got today. The cookies tasted like/​if not worse than what I would expect from a Walmart bakery. They had a sugar frosting, and it left a film on the roof of my tongue and teeth. Gross. Seriously, I threw away my cookies… And that is pretty close to unheard of for me. I will possibly eat sugar out of a bag, but I won’t lick butter and I think I just ate a stick of sugar butter.
I try many bakeries around town and I must say, that this is not one of the better ones.
The staff was short with me and I felt like I was bothering them by coming in by the way they acted.
To their credit, I did enjoy their Bavarian filling, but to us bakery snobs… It’s pudding, yo. It’s hard to mess that part up.
Try Sweet Daphne’s which is up the hill on Union near Dublin. They are way better if you want a place nearby, and they have a much larger selection.
I’d come back if needed a long john immediately, but for no other reason.

I stopped in today to if Dr. Sweets pastry was any good. It wasn’t. In fact it was the worst I’ve had in years. Everything was stale. I wasted $ 14 on his lousy pastry. If you want good pastry don’t go there.

Awesome donuts and dessert cakes. No customer seating though but it doesn’t matter since the stuff is so good. Crushes any other donuts in the springs so far. Looks like she makes a lot of wedding cakes. I bet they are good too. Fair priced and delicious.

The customer seating area could use a little upgrade but their cream puffs and eclairs are the best ever. I plan on trying everything else they make. I bring eclairs to a sick friend of mine whenever she is down in the dumps. Her face lights up at the mere mention of Dr. Sweet’s

I was a little disappointed in the service here (not very friendly) and in the taste/​texture of the Napoleon. They said they make cookies for most of the King Soopers in Denver and one in the Colorado Springs area and they had many, many cookies they were boxing up which looked great– buttery sprinkle cookies. We saw a tray of them on a counter in the area where you stand to order and we asked if they were samples and they simply said «no». If they knew what a bakery buff I am and how I used to work in a bakery and know what good cookies are like (and would have told everyone I know about them) they would have offered us one mini cookie. Oh well!

Ordered a German Chocolate cake and I was not disappointed. The cake was very good and the coconut topping was excellent! I Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for quality desserts. Staff is very friendly and gave me a history lesson of the origin of the German Chocolate Cake! Will definitely go back again!

Donuts are really good, and a fair price. The selection is limited, because this is not what they primarily do. They had three choices when I went there: chocolate coated, sugar, and glazed. They have the BEST chocolate sauce. Tastes like real chocolate, not icing.
I still prefer Amy’s donuts.

I will happily gain 100 lbs if I can have a lifetime supply of their chocolate eclairs! But being the sweet tooth that I am, I’ve still tried and thoroughly enjoyed everything that they make here. They have everything from triple chocolate cake slices to Pączkis to petit fours. All seriously delish! Seems this place is owned by a polish baker who also caters desserts and wedding cakes. I’m too ashamed to admit how many times I’ve stopped on my way home from work to stock up on some pastries for the week and go home and end up eating it all for dinner!

Found Dr. Sweet’s Bakery through his participation at the Monument Farmer’s Market 2 weeks ago. Purchased a few pastries and a cherry pie. They were awesome. So last week I ordered a Red Velvet birthday cake and a Bobka (that he made special for my husband who is of Polish descent). Have to say — again — AWESOME!!!
You can’t do wrong with baked goods from Dr. Sweet’s Bakery. Already trying to justify ordering another cake and forget the diet!
