Coquette’s Bistro and Bakery

Swung by on our way through Colorado Springs. Wish we would have kept on driving (lots of other places around). The food was underwhelming. I got the crêpe, and the filling wasn’t very good. Didn’t taste any of the goat cheese listed. Fries weren’t anything to write about. My wife got the salad, and at $ 15, it just wasn’t anything good. Even at $ 8 it wouldn’t have been worth it. Bland and salad dressing wasn’t very good either. Service was ok, not slow like other reviews mentioned.
If you’re in town, keep moving. There are better places at lower prices.

Service was slower than Christmas. Some were done eating by the time one guy’s Cuban came. The fish wasn’t great. Had to request things multiple times including drink refills. The burgers (ordered medium) came out well done… twice. The chicken tenders were good and the Monte Cristo crêpe were good.
There was a generous make good effort in terms of bakery goods so there’s that. Overall, I just can’t recommend the place.

Very good stuff. We stopped by first just for a baked good. Hear that the lemon raspberry cupcakes are the best sellers.
Finally stayed in for a dinner. I ordered a Monte Cristo. It was superb. French fries as a side were also amazing. Wife got a salad with some chicken tenders added. Fruit side was great which had perfect fresh pineapple.
The tenders we had extra for our toddler. They were fresh and hot. The homemade ranch with the salad was so familiar. I used to work at a country club with almost the same recipe. I loved it.
Some-​most of our experiences in this town for dining have been failures we would go back here and recommend all.

My wife ate here 3 time when we were only in town for 2.5 days. She loved it and I am not a gluten free eater like she is and I couldn’t tell the difference so if you are a gluten free person it’s a must if you are like us and you gluten free better half drags you into some bad places this isn’t one of them give it a try and you won’t be disappointed

So I was nervous at first because the whole gluten free isn’t something I’m entirely familiar with. But from the pictures on Unilocal I was SO excited! I saw some amazing cupcakes and pastries and the menu looked awesome. My mother and I were instantly greeted by a lovely hostess. The interior is so beautiful, with white furniture and modern accents and art. Super chic. Our waitress was lovely and really understood the menu and gave us some recommendations. I ordered the paleo meal with tofu– and mom ordered the tofu tacos. Both were incredible. Then I ordered a salted caramel cupcake– holy crap the cake was amazing and so was the frosting. THE ONLY criticism I had was that something was off with the caramel. It wasn’t until I tried it over and over that I realized the caramel was a bit too salty but it was actually burnt. Caramel is tough to work with– but overall it was delicious. Not to mention they had so many other cupcakes/​cakes/​cobblers cake pops cookies. This place is amazing.

I love that there is a totally gluten free place in the springs but I am tired of the terrible service. The servers seem bored or not friendly. And the girl helping us at the bakery counter was downright rude. The service is what keeps us from coming back often.

Got my dad gluten free treats here. He loved them! Not the cheapest, but it’s hard to find yummy gluten free pastries so it’s worth it. The staff was very nice too.

Coquettes has been hit and miss for us. The service is always wonderful, the atmosphere is great, but some of the food is only so so. Their fried chicken is great but the pot pie simply tastes like wine. They make an okay burger. Their truffle fries are all right. I know they are known for their GF desserts but I’m not impressed. I am a GF baker and their stuff is gritty and tastes gluten free. I guess for some people if you haven’t had a cupcake in a long time, it might not be so bad. Their cream cheese frosting was chunky and not sweetened at all., almost like a schmear in a cupcake. The red velvet cake was a disappointment to me. And it is so overpriced!!! On the other hand, their eclairs are pretty good and I love the idea of an exclusively gluten free restaurant.

My girlfriend has been begging to come back here. She has a hard time pooping when she eats gluten and it makes her really lethargic. We can come here and indulge… And her poops are still regular. And you all know what happens when your lady can poop without using all her energy… That’s right folks… Tonight’s gunna be a real fun night!!! :)
Oh yeah, the Cuban was delicious as well!!!

Be ready if you order the burger. It was not what I expected. The flavor was not up to par with the other burgers around the springs. Even more so though was the size of the patty, it wasn’t much larger then what you’d get at a fast food joint. That said, you just might want to stay away from their burger unless you like disappointment :)
Try the fish and chips!

I was hoping for a menu with lots of vegetarian options. This place is not that, but I did find a Veg. Tofu Scramble that was REALLY good! The service was poor– I was the only person in the café, but the 3 servers huddled up at the back of the counter, talking with each other. I felt as if I were intruding by finally catching an eye and waving one over. I didn’t feel particularly welcomed, tho’ I finally got a smile toward the end of my really good meal! It’s important to me feel that welcome. I’ll eat at somewhere that the food is not amazing, but the staff is attentive and really connects with diners any day!

So happy to have found this place. Newly developed wheat allergy has forced me to stop eating lots of foods I once loved, and discover new restaurants. I came here and got the Cajun crêpe. SOOOOO Good. My husband, who can eat wheat, really liked the restaurant as well. We got some cupcakes to go and enjoyed them later. Both the lemon/​raspberry and salted caramel were delicious. Will be back often.

Place looks very cute and gluten free, which it does not matter to me, but the service is terrible. I sat at the bar and ordered a lavender crêpe, the «bartender» said it was a crêpe so I got it, well he didn’t mention it was a fried crêpe, which is nothing what I wanted, and didn’t like it at all. Having just left the dentist this morning I can’t have anything hard. I thought a «lavender crêpe» would be soft.
Needless to say my tab was $ 16.00 and I didn’t even touch my plate.
Very rude customer service I couldn’t believe they swiped my debit card after he saw me not even touch my food and I told him I did not like it.
I will not be coming back here ever again.

Worst experience! Visited this restaurant on vacation and was quite disappointed. Service was TERRIBLE! Waiting over an hour for a grilled cheese sandwich is unacceptable! 2 adults 2 children and we were sat in the back corner and treated with utter disrespect! When I asked for owner a young girl came over claiming she was the owner and that nothing happened and she couldn’t understand why I was upset. No apology was given.
When I commented on their Facebook page about my experience the comment was deleted and I was «banned» from their page.
I would never recommend this restaurant.

Coquettes has become a MUST stop for dinner when I come out to Colorado Springs to visit my sister. The Caprese Bites are possibly the most delicious thing I have ever tasted in my life. Seriously you guys, I have dreamed about them.
I have had gluten free bread substitutes many places, and Coquettes is hands down closest to the real doughy, yeasty delciousness you can get. If you are gluten intolerant, this is definitely the place for you. But even if you aren’t, you will still find it yummy in your tummy.

Quirky place, average food. Stopped here after a bike ride, seeking some good food and a good brew. Points for locally sourced grass-​fed beef — the rest was mediocre. I get the whole gluten-​free craze … But for those of us not caught up in it, a conventional option would be nice … In other words a regular hamburger bun that doesn’t taste like some kid’s crumbly kitchen experiment.
I had a «Dead Guy Ale» from Rogue Brewery out of Oregon … One of just two beers on tap. Good beer … But with so many great local micro-​brews, why not continue the theme and source/​promote local?
The patio is on the street and shaded and the entire place has the feel of a café you’d find in a mini-​mall somewhere, with this strange European discontinuity — complete with brass trim and 80’s pop hits. The baked goods looked good — perhaps they’re just trying to be too many things to too many people.

I had been several times to their old location in Manitou, but this was the first time I visited since they moved to Colorado Springs downtown.
Not much has changed in the food. It’s still as good as it gets. Gluten free for those who desperately need it, but just as delicious for those who couldn’t care less.
We came for breakfast and I was thrilled to find out that they TAKE RESERVATIONS for breakfast on the weekend!!! Great points for that!
With the move they have probably more than quadrupled their real estate. The dining room is spacious and airy, with some modern furniture and some retro/​vintage pieces thrown in for good measure. The place feels inviting and comfortable, but their furniture has already started to fall apart. Not sure what’s up with that. Maybe the customers are too rough? lol.
The selection of pastries, and bakery items is enormous, they also have a good selection of ‘classic’ breakfast staples (omelettes, eggs benedict, quiche and more).
I also love that you can have fruit substituted for the potatoes, which is more fresh and heathy.
Overal I give this place 5 stars, I shall be back. Many times.

Pretty cool place and the unexpected options on the menu were quite good. Check out their spicy hot wings and the black bean burger. Both were pretty good. Wouldn’t say go out of your way to this place, and while it won’t knock your socks off, it’s still a solid restaurant. Worth visiting.
Ideally, sitting outside seems to be the winning point. Coquette gets really loud, so I had trouble hearing the music in the background and also my partner in crime.
Service was good.
Parking is a gamble. It’s unclear as to what will be available. All I can say is, good luck.

Ten of us had breakfast on a sunny Sunday morning. Had there been four of us we would eaten outside on the nice patio. If I had not been told it was a gluten free restaurant I may not have guessed.
Coffee was fresh and strong enough without being overpowering.
The Monte Cristo Crêpe was chock full of grilled ham chunks, Gruyère cheese and almost a bit too much of the homemade strawberry preserves — I had to pull out a few of the whole berries from the preserves or it would have been too sweet.
The truffle fries were crispy and had just the right amount of truffle seasoning and a hint of Parmesan dust on them.
The biscuits for the biscuits and gravy were a tad mealy — I guess that might have given away the gluten free nature of the place. The gravy itself had nice sausage flavor.
The home style breakfast had thick cut crisp bacon.
The cupcakes and macarons in the case looked great — wish we had tried them!

Avoid the vegan cupcakes… Seriously one of the nastiest desserts I have ever tried. Do not let the pretty frosting fool you!
The consistency was that of a dirty sock and the taste is pretty close to that as well.
The girl taking care of my family and I as we picked out cupcakes acted as if we were bothering her.
