History

Established in 2007.

Blindside was born from the idea that shops in these industries need to be passionate about these activities. In the big box and internet age, the customer service element has all but disappeared. This is where we come in. We believe that face to face interaction is the way we can effectively communicate our love and passion for the snow and streets. We ride everything we sell, and back our products as well.

Really irritated. I rented skis from here last year and called ahead, made a reservation, gave my and my husband’s specs no problem. I called this year ahead of time and was told ‘we don’t keep people’s specs every year, we just throw them away and you don’t need a reservation, it will be no problem’. So what happens today after we fly in from Austin and drive down to rent skis and stay with friends in the Springs before we head up the mountain tomorrow? They say that they’re completely cleaned out of skis and have none available. WTF? Exactly what someone coming in from out of town wants to hear. And no-it’s not spring break or Presidents’ Day weekend.

Blindside is the only place I will rent gear, buy new gear, and is where I usually find my new favorite things. (most recently, some adorbs volcom flip-flops with little watermelons on them.) The staff can answer your questions because they actually DO the sports and go ride the mountains etc. Great people, and really good pricing– not to mention the cash-pay discount. This is a local business that I proudly support!

I wanted to like this place, because I prefer to support small, local businesses, but it just didn’t happen.
I rented a demo board from here & the employee mounted the bindings backwards (even though I pointed out that the graphics on the board said where the heels should be). She also gave me men’s medium bindings, when I told her multiple times that I have women’s size 6.5 boots, so the toe strap fit like a toe cap strap, although it wasn’t a toe cap strap (meaning it barely fit).
Neither time that I was in there (when I picked up & dropped off the rental board) did anyone offer to help me with the boards for sale. I was in the market for a new one, and I told them that, but they didn’t even ask if I needed any help. I ended up finding a board that I wanted for a good price, but I went to another shop and asked them to match the price. The other shop did, so I bought it there, instead.
Oh well.

I am a relatively new skier and going into most shops can be intimidating, especially when it comes to sporting goods. Sales associates can easily come off as know-it-alls (in a rude way) or trying to sell you top of the line (whether or not you need it). I was incredibly relieved to find a shop that was friendly, knowledgable, and all around just about making sure customers have a great experience.
I rented from Blindside twice this winter and most certainly will next season! The prices were very comparable but I was allowed to pick up my skiis one night, skii the next day, then return them the next morning. That is unheard of for one day rentals and rather convenient! The employees actually enjoyed conversing with customers and I got a lot of great tips as well as hooked up with some demo skis that worked much better on the powder.
High quality products, friendly staff, good environment, and great prices!

John and the dudes at Blindside really know their «stuff» when it comes to snowboard and skate merch, and the best equipment. They are currently in a cramped little shop where you’ll find some of the raddest gear that you just «have to have.» In April they are slated to move just across the street to the «Round House», that will be a sweet location and a place where they’ll be able to spread out a bit.
John is super down to earth and will take a moment out of his hectic day to chat about business or snow conditions.
Blindside rents really really nice gear, none of that bottom of the barrel stuff you see at any of the other places.
