Description

Specialties

The Chocolate Garden specializes in handmade chocolate truffles that are made in a kitchen, not a factory, by actual human beings. Our truffles do not have the hard, sometimes waxy outer shell that other truffles have which makes them extremely creamy and unusually sumptuous.

By focusing on doing one thing and doing it well, our truffles beat Godiva and 16 other chocolatiers in a national taste test.

We’ve been featured on the Food Network, the Travel Channel and Fine Living TV as well as in Midwest Living, Elle Magazine, the Detroit News, the Chicago Tribune and USA Today.com to name a few – credentials you might not expect given our rural location. We’ve even been named the best chocolatier in America by America’s Best Online.

We also serve Decadent Drinking Chocolate and our very own, patent-pending TruffeLattés and Garden Mochas.

Only a mile off the highway, but very much out of the ordinary!

History

Established in 1998.

Perfected over 15 years, our handmade truffles were originally developed as a hobby by then advertising executive, Tina Buck. Through experimentation, Tina found a way to make her truffles even more luscious and creamy, having no idea at the time it would become her life’s work. Too often to count, Tina was told she should consider selling her extraordinary handmade truffles. These comments were usually prefaced with statements like «I’m a real chocolate connoisseur and you should…»

Finally, Tina decided that she’d had enough of big-city corporate life and was ready to fulfill her dream of becoming an entrepreneur. She longed to move back to the country to be surrounded by green, open spaces. She searched long and hard for the perfect spot and finally found a charming old Italianate farmhouse with a big yard and plenty of room for gardens. She built a commercial kitchen in the back and to the delight of many, The Chocolate Garden took root.
