Michael’s Keys

I got locked out of my car. It was a frustrating experience but the locksmith was there in less than 30 minutes. I think it was around 60 $ which is 100 $ less than the place i called last time!
Next he had to make me a replacement key and gave me an extra free one. It was really fast, the whole process took about an hour.

I just dropped by to get a new key for my truck. ¹⁄₃ the cost of what the Ford Dealership would charge and I was just able to drop by. Better service than what I anticipated. Even Lowe’s and Home Depot recommend Michaels when they can’t do the work.

Came promptly as scheduled. Re-​keyed my doors to my new purchased house.

I used Michael’s Keys last fall to re-​key the locks on the home that I purchased. Darrel was the tech that sent to handle my request. Overall the visit was a disaster and a waste of my money.
If there was one redeeming aspect of using Michael’s Keys, at least they were at my house quickly. Things rapidly went downhill from there. As soon as he arrived Darrel immediately tried to upsell me on a child safety lock for the door to my pool. As my wife was pregnant with our first child at the time it seemed like a good idea so I agreed. While installing the lock Darrel managed to damage our door in a way that caused it to no longer hang correctly (I have no idea how he did this). He actually mentioned to my wife that it happened (probably because she was standing right there and watched him do it) and said that it would be an easy fix, but of course did not handle fixing it himself. I guess the child safety lock did function as advertised, but at the cost of a door that no longer hung right and now stuck in the frame.
Darrel re-​keyed the locks for the pool door and the door to the garage and those were both fine. However, on the front door he changed the type of lock without telling us (our old deadbolt had a plate that extended beyond the actual deadbolt). The end result was that since the new deadbolt did not have the same decorative plate, we ended up an big unpainted ring around the deadbolt.
Obviously this was completely unacceptable as it made the door look terrible. Darrel obviously knew this too, he he quickly left our new keys on the table and then snuck off without telling us anything. This is obviously completely unacceptable; if he didn’t have the right tools/​parts to re-​key our existing lock he should have told us and come back another time, not slapped a half-​assed solution together and then bailed out.
Anyway, we ended up paying almost $ 250 for a broken pool door and mismatched lock on the front door that left a big unpainted ring because the tech was too lazy to do the job right. I wouldn’t waste your time with these people, or at least not with Darrel.

I called to have all the locks on our new house changed and they sent someone out immediately. They were at our house with in an hour of calling. Friendly service and reasonable prices. What a great business.

I got locked out of my new house on a Sunday afternoon with a car full of groceries. Called Micheal’s and was transferred to their emergency smith. Dean answered the line and listened to my situation. He made it to my house in NRH in record time, got my door open in seconds and even re-​keyed my lock. He was kind, courteous and professional. I will recommend them and use them again if necessary! Thank you!

Wonderful service. We moved into a new house and they came the same day we called. They changed the locks, installed a new bolt at a very reasonable price. Respectful, on time and great service. Will use them again if needed and recommend them to all our friends.

This is the first locksmith I have ever used and if I ever need another, you bet I’ll give Michael’s Keys another call! The rate was very reasonable (at least compared to horror stories from friends and co-​workers) and the locksmith arrived in approx. 30 – 45 minutes, which was both convenient and impressive. Every time I go to this location the staff is very friendly. I wish their fees were a bit less for coming to locations. I live 2 miles away, but they charge $ 65 just to come out

Had to get a lock a keys replaced for a mail box. Called and had an appointment for the next day. A very nice man named Jeff came out on time and as quick as he could changed the lock. He would have been faster if he could feel his fingers as it was 28 degrees out side. He was a good sport though. Would use them again for sure and we’re fairly priced.

I consulted three locksmiths for quotes for a home we were close to purchasing, by sending an email and sending photos of all five locks on the house. Only Michael’s Keys gave me a quote for how much each type of work would cost, and what my options were for services (rekeying, installation, etc.). They also recommended affordable safety upgrades, like a Tuff Plate for the door that would make it more difficult for the door to be kicked in.
After reviewing the recommendations for our locks, I was able to purchase the hardware that would work best for my new home, and set the appointment as soon as we closed on the house. We were handed the keys to our new home on Thursday at 4p, and Thomas from Michael’s Keys was at my new house on Friday by 9:45a.
As for estimate vs actual cost, the only difference between the quoted cost and the final cost was a $ 20 fee for having to drill one of the old lock holes to make it large enough to fit the new lock. Thomas and his assistant were quick, professional, and let me know how things were going every step of the way. A couple of the doors on the house were not level, and he worked on repositioning things until he could get them to work as intended.
I would highly recommend Michael’s Keys for any rekeying work needed.

For the second time this year we found ourselves in a key predicament. I was on my way to a bridal expo in Plano and I couldn’t get into my vehicle with the fob or the manual key. So I had to leave my fiancé at home with no car. That was a horrible feeling, but he managed to make a lazy day an even lazier one. I don’t think he moved from the couch the entire day. Anywho, I knew that a key fob was going to run me at least a $ 100 from the dealership, so the next day I just started calling around and trying to find a bargain. I was not in the mood to dish out that much money. One dealer told me $ 180 and I almost just went with that, UNTIL car toys redirected me to Michaels Keys… and then I remembered they helped us with a key issue about 4 months ago. It was a seamless ordeal. As long as you don’t have an aftermarket system in your vehicle, you should be okay for them to get you set up with a new key fob for around $ 60. I was floored! I was grateful! I was satisfied. They also made me a valet key to get into my vehicle just incase it happened again, I wouldn’t be out of luck. They were the nicest people and even tolerated my little one running behind the counter a few times with smiles and such. I would recommend anyone to them in the future and from now on they will be the first number I call if I have issues with keys, safes, locks, and other things!

I called inthe morning to have our locks changed out and they called 20 min before they arrived around 1pm. They finished the job in 20 to 30 min and even fixed a door that would not shut unless it was locked for no charge. The charge for the service was resonable.

The guy was very nice, but had some issues with getting the key programmed to start the car. I’m pretty sure that anyone else would have given up, but he didn’t… He kept trying, and even called for additional help, and eventually got the car to start with the new key!
I don’t believe that the issue was his fault at all, as there is an aftermarket alarm on the vehicle.
All in all, I was very impressed with the fact that their tech didn’t give up when problems arose. And the price was about half what the dealership would have charged me!

I was referred to Michael’s Keys on Colleyville Blvd. by Mr. Lock in Bedford because I was told that they could possibly make an additional key for the slightly used vehicle I had bought that had only one key with it. I wanted an additional key with all of the remote features on it and an additional plain key to just start the ignition.
I called Michael’s keys on the phone and they said they would look at it. When I arrived at their store, they checked the key with the chip in it and found that it matched a 2011 key instead of the key for the 2012 vehicle I had bought and they had one in stock.
The key was expensive ($ 175), but it included programming. He had both keys cut, programmed and ready to go in about ten minutes. Total cost for both keys was about $ 215. I thought I was going to have to go to the Ford dealership to get these keys made at a cost of $ 175 for the remote feature key, $ 175 for programming that one, $ 70 for the plain key with a $ 125 fee for programming it (total ridiculous Ford cost $ 545!!!). Plus I would have been sitting in the Ford dealership service waiting room for about two hours!!!
I can’t tell you how happy I was that I completely avoided all of that nonsense at the Ford dealership and the outrageous expense to boot by going to Michael’s keys.
I highly recommend them for their customer service and customer care. They are efficient and totally awesome! And they have some really neat stuff in their store to look at while you’re waiting and I managed to spend additional money just browsing.

I forget how good the service is at Michael’s is.
This was my first time at this location. In the past I have used the 700 North Main Street location in Fort Worth (
). This location is a lot bigger, and I was amazed by the number of Michael’s Keys trucks in the lot.
It seems I am always going into Michael’s to get a lock re-​keyed (typically a lock that I never had the key for). This sounds like it should be expensive, but it generally runs around $ 10 (Of course price will vary by lock).
Michael’s is also a great place to have keys made, as their prices do seem to be less than other places that cut keys.
This location also had more interesting things too look at while I waited (the re-​key service is typically done while you wait, though you don’t have too). If I ever need anything lock related, this is the place I will come.
