Totally fenced in. Unable to get to. Also I could see that greg was right. It looks like an abandoned garden. Go for a walk on campus, you’ll see awesome plants there. This is a WASTE

Not sure what happened here but it’s pretty obvious that the Texas A&M University Horticulture Garden on Hensel is no longer being maintained and it’s pretty sad. This was actually a spot my(now) wife showed me in College Station when we first met 6 years ago and it was astoundingly beautiful. I’ve stopped by frequently in the last few years and just watched it pretty much go to hell in a hand-basket. About a month ago I met some guys working on the cell phone tower and asked if they had seen any staff lately and they said that no, and that A&M had abandoned the gardens a few years ago. So I guess if you want to ever see it you should hurry. It has some of the oldest and rarest plants in Texas, heavy on cacti. I mean stunning rare species. But at this point it would take a group of 500 volunteers at least a few days to clean it up. I’m wondering how long it will be before it’s shut off to the public due to the risk of snakes. What an absolute terrible shame.
