Texas A&M Hillel is the oldest Hillel organization in the United States. The Menorah Club was organized in 1916 by Dr. Jacob Taubenhaus, the first Jewish Professor to be hired at the university and his wife Esther Taubenhaus. In the fall of 1920, the group was transformed into the Hillel Club under the guidance of Rabbi David Lefkowitz of Dallas.
