French Door Salon & Day Spa

My mother in law went here to get her nails done as we are trying to source a new place in town to have as our regular place. The job done on her nails was acceptable, however the technician cut her fingers twice, was not at all friendly or «chatty» and seemed dismissive of a new client. She complained that there was Shellac on the acrylic and also complained that it took to long for her to the job as there was shellac she had to remove. Will not be going back.

Just enjoyed a great day here! The ultimate body facial does not disappoint. Very relaxing and attractive interior — don’t be fooled by the location’s appearance from the outside. Friendly and professional staff.
Biggest disappointment was the pedicure massage chair was broken — so no chair massage for me.

Three strikes and you’re out. I went to French Door for a hair cut. There were 3 college girls sitting in the waiting area. Two in the individual chairs and one spread out on the sofa. My daughter and I stood around looking at products while waiting. Did anybody care? No. I think we stood around for about 10 minutes.
Every time I’ve been here the waiting area has been uncomfortable and unwelcoming. Last time the hair dressers were hanging out in the waiting area gossiping with no regard to us being customers. This should have been a warning but no. Did I mention that the reception area is crammed full of products? Hair products line one wall, makeup in the counter, nail polish on top of the counter, another area filled with children’s boutique clothes hung around like a garage sale, and homemade JARRED JELLY.
Yes, Jelly. End of story.

1^st experience: The first time I visited French Door Salon, Jennifer cut my hair. She was really friendly and gave me some useful tips on reducing baby hairs. She even got so into cutting my hair that she curled it and made it look really fancy. I left feeling pretty and girly. However, after I took a shower the next day, I realized that my bangs were not quite right. Moreover, after only four weeks they were really long, but it would have cost $ 5 to get them trimmed, which seemed outrageous to me because free bangs trimmings are standard these days. So, I just let them be long until my next haircut appointment, even though they were super annoying.
2^nd experience: The second time I came to the salon, Monique cut my hair. She describes herself as a free spirit and said that she brings her clients with her whenever she changes jobs. However, I don’t think I will be one of them. It felt like she was really rough on my hair. The haircut she gave me is fine, but I’m still not happy with my bangs. This time I brought in a picture of Reese Witherspoon because I liked the way her bangs looked, and she sort of followed it. When she first asked me how I liked my bangs, I asked if she could make them a little shorter (anticipating having to wait until my next appt.). She asked me to decide that after she thinned them out, which after that, there was no way I was going to ask for them to be shorter. Now, if my bangs don’t fall precisely the right way, they look more triangular than side-​swept. She did a good (but painful) job of giving my hair volume, but overall, I was not happy with my experience. Moreover, Monique charges $ 10 for a bangs trim!
Overall Opinion: Normally, I like to visit salons three times before I decide my opinion about them, but after two mediocre trims at $ 45 a pop (which is like BCS high-​end), I have decided I do not want to even try a third visit. I do not see how this salon is better than other, cheaper salons. Yes, the privacy of the individual rooms is nice, but the haircut is the most important factor. You can find the same quality of haircut here as you will at cheaper salons. I suggest you save $ 10 and go somewhere else. The only reason I will be coming back here is if I ever need to purchase some Bumble & Bumble products.

Best. Salon. EVER!!! Well, actually best hairdresser ever. I have been going to Heather for 5 years and I LOVE LOVE LOVE her! She takes the time to get to know her clients up and down, from their personalities to the way their hair behaves, she is an expert. I highly recommend her but call at least a few weeks to a month in advance to book your appointment because I’m not the only one who knows how great she is and her schedule tends to fill up fast! The actual salon itself is very stylish and professional. The parking out front can be a little tricky, but there is a larger lot around the back that is rarely full.
