The «Premier» location… Really?
I was so excited to try the new Spa Castle, unfortunately for me it was a TERRIBLE experience.
First off, as I entered the Locker room of this «premier» spa castle location, which by the way was a mess, I was made aware that I would need pay $ 35 for a swimsuits to use the facility. Really? Couldn’t put a sign up or let the client know at the front desk before entering? Or you can’t provide swim trunks for your «premier» location clients?
Little did I know this was just the beginning of a huge mess.
I opted for the body scrub, the lady at the front desk, who was very nice, told me I was scheduled for 7:30pm but I should arrive at 7pm to do the 30 minute soak (which by the way is clearly stated on the description.
I get there at 7pm, the guy in the locker room had no idea what I was talking about when I said was here for the 30 min soak before the scrub. He runs around asking the people that do the scrub and they couldn’t understand what he was saying. Finally a guy appears and Aggressively tells me to go into the scrub room, then I replied «what about the 30 min soak as advertised» he had no idea what I was talking about. He RUSHED through the scrub, left soap in my hair, then pulls me up and aggressively asks how much I am going to tip him, I told him I will decided at the front desk, he then repeatedly and aggressively asks me «how much tip!?» «no now, you leave tip now!»
Really? Such Premier spa caste service…
Then I go to leave, 10 times more stressed out than when I can in, the locker room guy tells me I already used 2 towels so he can not give me anymore. Really Spa Castle? You have a ‘towel limt!?“
I then tell the guy that I paid over $ 100 to get in and it’s absolutely ridiculous that I have to fight for a 3^rd towel, then he starts to argue with me of how much I paid saying «you actually spent $ 95» unbelievable.
God forbid I ask for a 3^rd towel!
(even my gym gives, out unlimited towels)
I go to the front desk to leave after my TERRIBLE experience and let them know it was an awful experience, the 2 girls will curly hair were very nice but the girl with straight hair was rude. They bring down the Manager and he takes me to his office. He let me know there is a 2 towel limit because they run out of towels… Haha! That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.
He offers no solution to the problem except giving me a pass to come back (which I clearly stated I will not be coming back), and proceeds to charge me FULL price for my terrible experience.
You would think of all the bad press they have got, they would at least try to have good service.
Spa Castle, both the queens location and Manhattan location

Today, 6÷10÷2016, there was a naked man in the all-​naked female area staring at women (including myself) who were getting in and out of jacuzzis, and then he went walking around naked so all of the children — and there were many of them tonight — could clearly see his body fully exposed. Definitely much more that I wanted to see at a spa. And could you imagine how unsafe and uncomfortable it made me feel when I was sitting in the hot tub (obviously naked since it’s an all nude area), taking a look at the tub right next to mine and seeing A DUDE sitting there and staring at me. I wanted to scream loud but there was no one who could assist me so I had nothing left to do but get out of the tub when that creep kept staring right at me, quickly get dressed and get some help. How was I supposed to relax under such unbelievable conditions? To my surprise, management & staff did absolutely nothing to get him out of there or to refund the admission fee. Absolutely disgusting and we’re never ever going back! Ladies and especially mothers beware. I’ve heard he’s a regular customer there.
P. S. I used to really like this place until today and was really looking forward to visiting it again. Sorry, but your current special «for only $ 40 let a random man who is not your husband see your naked body» doesn’t seem like a great deal to me. And thanks God my little daughter wasn’t there with me and didn’t see something she does not need to see.

first time going used a 25 dollar groupon voucher. i went for my birthday. here’s a list of pros and cons
pros
theres a locker for your shoes and a separate one for your stuff which calls for a very sterile floor (but i said FLOOR)
theres a watch you wear where you can open your locker with and you can order your drinks and food
the pools are generally clean and the sauna rooms are great theres one for detoxification, and and ice room to close your pores
the food and drinks are good

the staff is just ok i wouldnt say they are very friendly or accommodating with the exception of a few people the girl at the front desk, the lady who serves drinks and the crêpe girl and about 2 lifeguard everyone else was just acting like they wanted the day to just go by and treating everyone like herds of cows.
the pools have sooooo much chlorine it was so bad that my husband and i broke out with rashes all over us
the food is expensive portions are small and they check your bag for food before entering. small drink alcoholic start at 16 and for a small cup and regular juice is 9 bucks food is like 15 and up.

Well this is how my experience went. We first got there and went to valet parking which was great, because you don’t pay a fee, you just tip the guys. We enter the facility and with ease check in was a breeze. They explained a few things to us, also let us know we didn’t not need our cards, or cash until when we are about the check out which was great. Me and my girlfriend booked a couples massage, which was amazing but it seem to be less then 60 mins, I think they start the time from the moment you walk in. Afterwards we got hungry and went to get a bite to eat. The drinks was awesome as well. I recommend the circoc punch!!!
But afterwards we want to go to the pool and it was extremely full with little kids, they should have a family section and a adult section. We just wanted to relax, and enjoy a little time in the pool.
We got sleepy, so we decided to go to the sleep room, which in my judgment it was just to hot in there. I could not even get to rest a few mins.
I got thirsty so I wanted to try a fresh squeeze juice. When I get to the counter the lady tells me the power is off so she can’t make anything. I didn’t really understand this until later… It was weird because everything else had power. So I didn’t get my juice.
Now to my favor part, the sauna!!! Amazing rooms, they had about 7 rooms, and a ice room. All different types of temperatures. Of course me I love to sweat so I said bring it on!
It came time to use to start getting ready to leave, when I head down to the locker room they once again say they have no power so the showers don’t work… wtf??? What does shower has to do with power? Water usually works through pressure. I asked over and over to let me take a cold shower that I had an event to go to. He just kept saying I can’t, the manager said no. Not only was I upset but hundreds of other customers, and my girlfriend as well. Mind you i was extremely sweaty from the sauna but I couldnt leave like this to go to the next engagement that I had.
I got upset and booked a 4 hour hotel, had to spend more money because they don’t have back up generators for moments like this. So because I had to spend more money I give this place 2 stars.

Spa Castle could be the best relaxation place in the world, if they would segregate the kids onto just one side of the pools. You can’t relax when you have screaming loud kids splashing around, playing Marco Polo and yelling. Or make an age limit of 16 and above. Some kids are well behaved but the majority of the kids are loud and obnoxious, I’m glad they have monitors now, so they can reopen the pools due to parental neglect. But please either ban kids, or segregate them to one side of the Pool so the adults can relax.
I do like their selection of saunas, and selection of pools.

If I can this place a 0 I would give it a –1000. On June 1^st, 2016 at approximately 9:50pm, entered the jacuzzi at Spa Castle (College Point, NY). When I stepped down on the first landing, I noticed the water was a little warmer than usual. I stepped down to the second landing, where the jet streams are, and immediately felt the skin on my ankle burning. In shock, I quickly jumped out and notified the lifeguard of the incident. The lifeguard notified Cassie who claimed to be the lifeguard on duty. Cassie told the lifeguard to give me some cream to treat the burn and wished me a good night.
I informed Cassie I wanted to make an incident report and she said «Absolutely not. Not for a little scrape.» I told her my leg was burning and stinging. She tried to convince me the water couldn’t possibly have burned me and that it doesn’t go above 100 degrees fahrenheit OR maybe I’m allergic to the water OR maybe I scraped my leg on the concrete.
Every argument she tried to make, I used rationale to cancel it.
I explained the scrape would have come about from behind and not across my leg and, if I was allergic to the water, my whole body would have broken out and, if I was allergic to the water, what else is in there besides chlorine?
As I rubbed the burn cream on my leg, my skin rubbed off with it. I showed Cassie and her response was there’s no way possible that could happen. I asked again to file an incident report. She left and came back with receipt paper for me to write it down. I asked for an official report. She denied my request.
At 10:23pm, I called 911 to have EMS clean and treat the burn due to Spa Castle’s refusal to assist and document the issue. EMS treated me and I left.
Spa Castle was never apologetic, they did not check up on me, and I now have to follow with my primary care physician to make sure my wound heals properly.

OVERBEARING, OBNOXIOUS «LIFEGUARDS» RUIN IT
Spa castle used to be my favorite place in all of NYC, but since the incident with the child back in February it has changed for the worst. The new policies are really turning off a lot of people and after I use my last groupon I will NOT go back for a long time due to the rude so-​called lifeguards that HOVER and HARASS people all day long.
DEAR MANAGEMENT,
Do yourself a favor and make it a policy that the staff in the front and/​or the staff in the locker rooms remind people their hair needs to be up prior to entering the water. This would cut down significantly on the amount of times the «lifeguards» have to come over to the pool and bother people.
Also, If swimming is not allowed you should make it abundantly clear from the start and stop advertising your business as a place to swim.
And finally, which is it, keep public displays of affection to a minimum or public displays of affection are completely forbidden? You have two signs in the entrance with two different rules. Pick one and stick to it. I don’t appreciate being called out and scolded by a kid half my age because your rules are contradictory.
It is really sad that an irresponsible parent has ruined this place so for many loyal customers. I do hope after some time things go back to the way they used to be where swimming was allowed and hugging your significant other wasn’t grounds to get kicked off the premises.

This was my first time at this location. I bought a groupon for $ 30.00 and was told to bring my swim suit and a towel. We got there around 11:00 am. We checked in and was given a little wrist band with my locker number on it. We procede to our lockers where we had to put a shoes in these little cube lockers. Apparently it you use your key wrong your locker doesn’t lock properly. I had to ask for help. So i got my uniform and my little towel, so happy i brought my own towel with me. It wasn’t crowded at this point, we spent almost 2 hours downstairs in the hot tubs with varying degrees. At 1:00 we headed upstairs to the second floor with the salad bar and saunas. Here was a little busier, both men and females are together as well as for children.
Children were in the most part quiet for me but my friend who was with me said they were loud. I guess i didn’t notice it because i’m always around kids and too me they were quiet. then we headed for the pool, i had put on my swimming suit prior to coming upstairs so while the rest of them went to appointments with massages, i went upstairs to the pool.
Pool wasn’t as crowded as i thought it was going to be. Now mind you my version of crowded is different then my friends. Crowded to me is when you can’t get into the pool or when your in the pool and can’t really move around. So for me it was great. The only thing that was negative was the chairs. there wasn’t any to sit in. Almost all chairs had items on them. no people. So i stayed upstairs till about 3:00. The pool was getting busier, and my friend was complaining about the noise and all the children. Lifeguard was blowing his whistle alot. I think when it’s crowded like that they’ll should be two at this section so he doesn’t have to keep blowing it, But i didn’t think that a lifeguard should be on his phone texting when he’s supposed to be watching people, maybe if he wasn’t on his phone the other guard wouldn’t have to blow so often. So we went to get out of our swimsuits, i didn’t know there was a changing area near the bar/​inside pool until my friend took me there. Here it is look for an empty cube and put your towel there. Idk so i had carried my stuff with me. Here we changed out of our suits into our uniforms. My pink shirt and blue shorts.
My friend was telling me about how she checked in on facebook and got a free mask. so i had told her i checked in before i left my house this mourning does that count. she said she doesn’t know so i sign into my account again and checked in and got my free mask. There was a long line of people coming in at this time and what i like about it was that they have people on the otherside where you can check out and answer/​ask questions .
we headed for the food salad bar. $ 20.52 dollars later plus the $ 2.75 for a bottle of coke. I was telling my group of people i was with how could you tell how much our food was if we can’t read the card reader, it was written in chinese or japanese. I couldn’t read it. but when i looked at it i thought i saw it say 12.00 so i wasn’t really concerned about it. Everything was find but the grapes weren’t ripe enough for me to eat. Yes my stomach did get upset after eating, which when i eat too much it does happened. It’s not because of their food.
so after eating i went to lay down for a while,
At about 4:30 i headed back downstairs, undressed and got back into the hot tubs. At this time there was a life guard on duty in the locker room. When we were here earlier there wasn’t one. I guess when there is alot of people they have to have someone on duty there.
overall i liked this place alot and for being a holiday weekend it wasn’t bad. I look forward to coming back.
Fyi: there was one thing i was concerned about was in the hot tubs near the lockers, if that was a camera in the ceiling between the wet and dry suanas. I was saying to my freind that i thought they werent allowed to have cameras here because of the nakedness and children in area.

I’ve seen prisons run less strict than this place. I don’t know what the character limit on a Unilocal review is, but it probably wouldn’t permit me to run down the litany of insane and nonsensical rules Spa Castle has.
Spare yourself the money and headache and find a sprinkler somewhere to run through to cool off instead. To say I’ll die before I ever come back would be putting it mildly.

My 4^th time there, and it’s getting worse and worse!!! This time it was the worst experience ever, they put few guys by the pool area and they just giving u orders what not to do, u feel like u in prison!!! Do not go there!!! Waste of money and nervs, the drinks they make are horrible, more juice no alcohol,$ 16??? Seriously? Where do u think u are? It’s only spa and in queens… More? Ok. So your hair has to be up all the time, u cannot put your had under the water at all! The lifeguard talk to u like shit, even the manager can just raze his voice on u? What is this? Are we little kids? We just coming to relax and by the and of the day u find yourself like u didn’t rest at all!!! So guys don’t waste your time!!! Oh and last thing there was a pad inside the water!!! This is gross!

I came here with my fiancé on a Saturday at opening time after purchasing two Groupons for 30 dollars each. For all those complaining about weekends being crowded, the key is to come EARLY. There were only 4 other people who came at around 8am and we had the advantage of going into the bathing area and having it all ourselves. Spa Castle can be a place to relax and this is one of those times! Please note that the roof top pools do not open till 10am so around this time all you have access to is the bathhouse and the saunas.
On this particular visit, we accessed the bath house, the saunas, and signed ourselves up for a traditional Korean body scrub and couples aroma massage so this will be covered in the review.
Let’s start with the bath house which requires you to be fully naked to enter. This is not for the squeamish. I think of the bath house as a bit of sanctuary especially later in the afternoon when the roof top pool is filled with a ridiculous amount people. The bath house is essentially the same thing as the roof top pool with the exception of two saunas and a variety of cold to hot bathing pools.
Afterward, we baked in the saunas a bit and accessed the sleeping rooms until our massage appointment. The perk about coming early are the saunas being empty and nether is the co-​ed lobby area. However at around 11:30am, people start coming in and it can get quite noisy and disrupts that peaceful atmosphere. Spa castle does not enforce a cell phone free policy apparently which makes it hard to relax and unwind esp when the person on the other end of the table is yapping on his cell.
Oh yea, food is expensive too so make sure you eat a hearty breakfast. Food is 12 dollars a pound and the plates are unnecessarily HUGE (as if you’re eating two to three meals on it) and have a bit of weight to it. You’ve been warned.
We scheduled our massage at the last minute and got a slot for 1pm. The lady at the desk was informative and told me about the different services they have available before we made a decision. At 110 dollars for an hour, it is a bit pricy but worth the one time experience and more if this is within your budget. We were asked to arrive 10 minutes early to check in and do paperwork. At 1pm, we were led into the back area which was lit by dimmed lights giving off a very romantic atmosphere. The massage felt great and masseuse, Doris, checked in every now and then to make sure the pressure is right. The massage was absolutely wonderful and the best I’ve had. She made me melt into the table: D I felt a great sense of relief after!
Afterwards, we grabbed lunch on the 4^th floor and had some pork sliced doused in the infamous red pepper sauce. It was very delicious and enough to share between two people when you order an extra side of rice.
We ended the day with a traditional Korean body scrub which we both very much enjoyed. It was his first time and he had said it was a good deal and experience. For 50 dollars you get a 30 min full body exfoliation, a body wash and a hair wash. My only issue was that the hair washing was a bit rough but aside from that the service good. Also not for the squeamish as this was done in an open area in the corner of each gender’s respective bathhouse.
Overall, three stars for this place because there can be many many improvements such as enforcing certain polices to ensure this is a spa like experience during all hours and not just early in the morning. The cleaning people wear sneakers while cleaning floors in the co-​Ed areas which kind of defeats the purpose… The regular price point is much too high for a place that isn’t willing to regularly replace and update things that are wearing out (sleeping mats and neck rests in the co-​Ed space and more).

I still had some unexpired gift certificates for Spa Castle and I’ve read an QNS article earlier this month that Spa Castle has reopened its pools and followed all safety regulations accordingly with the department of health and signed an agreement to allow the city to «intervene swiftly» if they don’t comply with the safety requirements. Now, all of this must sound really bad. However, I’m a man that likes to give second chances. I was curious to see how things changed in Spa Castle since my last visit.
First thing I noticed, you no longer have to sign in. Second, there was much more supervision in the locker room. The man handling the uniforms and towels was much more polite and courteous and other employees who saw fellow patrons using their mobile phones in the locker room requested them to put them away because it is part of their policy to not use mobile phones in the locker room area. I totally agree and they handled it in a very professional manner. In the pool, shower, and sauna section of the locker area, they moved the razors, toothbrushes, and toothpaste to the inner part of the locker room. It’s not longer placed on the wall in between the two shower areas. Another huge thing I noticed, the staff inspects the pool and sauna areas more often. You are not allowed the dip your head below the water or swim. I absolutely agree with this one considering how many nude men there are.
After showering, using the wet and dry saunas, and pools, I finally headed upstairs. The first level is pretty much the same. There’s Sauna Valley, gold, loess soil, jade, color therapy, Himalayan salt, infrared zone, and ice land. My favorites of the bunch would be the loess soil, Himalayan salt, and ice land. The loess soil sauna is super hot and dry. I could actually take a short nap in here. The Himalayan salt according to their website says it relieves allergies so I definitely had to put in some time here. And the ice land sauna, well I just like the cold.
Next up, the second level, the spa pools. First major change, there are life guards on duty! Yes, not 1, not 2, but 3 life guards in red uniforms with whistles! It’s not longer a random Asian staff member trying to enforce their policy because let’s be honest, nobody listens the Asian unless they’re cheating off of them in math class. These 3 guards did their job and did it well. They took Spa Castle’s pool policy seriously and enforced it. No longer will you see kids jumping and diving into the pools like animals. They also made sure people wore the proper swimming attire and also had with them their Spa Castle t-​shirt and shorts. Whenever patrons were getting too intimate, they blew the whistle immediately. And for many of the Spanish speaking only patrons, one of their lifeguards is Spanish and was very helpful explaining their policy in their own language without having any conflict between the patron and management. The life guards also did a great job by not allowing anybody to bring food or drinks into the pool. This is a part I really hated in the past. You would see many patrons drop their beverages and food into the pool and nobody ever cleaned it up. Job well done here.
Off to the third and final level. The tonic bar is longer here. They moved the tonic bar to the second level by the pool entrance. This is a much more functional location. On the third level, they replaced that tonic bar section with a meditation room, sleeping room, and roof deck. Both the meditation room and sleeping room are very neatly designed. The sleeping room here is much nicer than the one along the stairway. For lunch, I ate at Sky Garden. They finally have sundubu. Bit pricey but still worth it compared to the other overly priced Korean dishes on their menu. The person who takes your order is no longer a brainless ditsy teenager!
Verdict — Spa Castle has overcame a lot of negative press in the past year. I have to credit where it’s due. Everyone was bashing them and became very skeptical of their services including myself. However, after experiencing Spa Castle’s new safety agreement with the city, my view of them has changed. There’s still room for improvement but compared to how it was managed before, they’re definitely working in the right direction.

I’m writing an updated review for Spa Castle after the horrible experience I had today. I have been here many times and never really had any issues. They have hired these «lifeguards» for the outside pool area, who just stand around and bother guests with an extremely unprofessional and inappropriate tone. As a customer who pays 50 bucks to come here (on a weekend) I should not have to feel harassed while I’m just trying to enjoy my Sunday afternoon. They kept blowing their whistles every 2 minutes and hovering over customers. I understand that they are concerned about safety, but yelling to a customer and arguing as if you are on the street is not the right way to address it.
Extremely disappointed.
Needless to say, I will NOT be coming here. Ever again.
I’ll find their better competitor and go enjoy my time and spend my money there instead.

So this is an updated review for Spa Castle-​AFTER THEY RE-​OPENED.
I came here with a girlfriend after they re-​opened (previously shut down. We are regulars here, so we know what to expect when coming in.
They have these young looking young kids as «lifeguards» who only stand around text on the phone and blow their whistles for no reason what so ever.
Furthermore, god knows how much they eye the women behind their sunglasses-​which is totally creepy, and made me feel uncomfortable.
I understand they were fined for multiple violations, and they now have to abide by certain rules and regs, but the experience is not the same.
The people working the bar, do NOT know how to make drinks. The drinks they serve are over priced, nasty, and watered down.
I am willing to pay for a drink, so Spa Castle-​as a suggestion, please work on this.
Also the buffet style food needs more option and to be a little less pricey.
We expressed all our concerns to the manager-​but he didn’t seem to care-​and condoned the lifegaurds use of cell phones while on duty-​claiming they were texting him updates (how so when there are a millions camera’s all around).
I understand the need for lifegaurds-​for safety purposes-​but HOW ARE YOU SUPPOSE TO RELAX AT A SPA WITH SOMEONE CONSTANTLY HOVERING OVER YOU?
I used to love coming here, but im not sure if I feel the same about them now after they re-​opened.

The best time to write a review for Spa Castle is immediately after you walk out of Spa Castle. You’re feeling relaxed, calm and slightly sedated.
How can anyone complain when you can walking into an establishment that has dozens of baths, pools, rooms and people to make your body feel good? I can, that’s who.
I won’t complain too much because I really do love this place. But there are a few things I’d like to get off my chest. To be fair, I’ve decided to pair each negative comment with a positive one. Here we go.
1. Neg: The food at the weigh station is kinda gross. Give us more options and better quality! We’re paying so much money for it anyway, at least make it appetizing.
Pos: The smoothies/​juices/​bubble teas are much better and priced less than you’d expect based on food prices.
2. Neg: Massages here are not very good. They’re similar to a massage you might get from a 4 year old. Mostly pinch and press. You’re basically getting a body rub which isn’t terrible, but you shouldn’t go in expecting something amazing.
Pos: The body scrub is very thorough. The scrubs happen in the naked part downstairs. You will be lying naked on a table that is semi exposed to the rest of the naked area while a woman in a pair of matching black underpants and bra scrubs the crap out of your entire body. Though painful, this experience is equally hilarious and amazing. You are flopping around on a waterproof table while warm water is thrown on you and a woman is scrubbing you in places that you haven’t even seen on your own body. If nothing more, it’s a good first date story.
3. Neg: The co-​ed pools and outdoor area are a bit annoying. Typically a ton of children are splashing and yelling, lots of people are making out (I once saw a couple having sex in a pool) and the lifeguards are constantly blowing whistles for women to put their hair up. Also, I’ve seen a few employees taking photos of people. If you ask me, that should get them fired immediately.
Pos: The naked area downstairs. I don’t know about the dudes and I don’t know about the straight people, but as a cis woman who is a lesbian, the naked part is my dream vacation. Most of the people down there are older women who don’t give a shit who you are and what your body looks like. These are my people. If we could all walk around being comfortable in our bodies while being allowed to take care of our bodies… I mean really what is better than that?
The best thing about spa castle is there is no time limit. You may be paying around $ 300 to spend a day here as a couple, but you’ve got all day to enjoy.

Found a Lunar New Year coupon on their site for $ 15 off each person and used it the following weekend. I doubt I’d ever pay full price especially on a weekend ($ 50), but for $ 35, the bf & I were pretty satisfied with our first visit. Hopefully they reopen soon and fix up all their issues since I’d like to go back, perhaps with some of my lady friends & during a less crowded time. While I like the facilities at King Spa in NJ a lot more, I do like that Spa Castle is more co-​ed friendly and in general better for those who are not comfortable with being nude in front of others. It’s a nice place to go with your SO, friends who aren’t the same gender, or just friends who just aren’t as comfortable w/​nudity.
It seems like they don’t expect first timers (or simply don’t care about them) since you receive very little instruction on where to go & what to do once you’ve paid. Even after extensively reading reviews and tips, I still felt a little lost when I walked into the locker room. I had some issues closing my locker since the door was a bit misaligned. I had to do some adjusting and pushing for it to close properly.
After changing, we wanted to get lunch from the food court but there were still 10 minutes till they started serving lunch so we got a couple of those salted eggs to tide us over (which were pretty good), and then we shared a chicken sandwich with fries from the place next to Starbucks. The food was just okay, pretty standard for a food court. As everyone’s mentioned the food and drinks are quite overpriced. Try to eat beforehand or split things if you can. I wanted a bubble tea but it was a ridiculous $ 7 so we got Starbucks instead.
So it was the weekend of Valentine’s Day and it felt like it was below zero outside, but we decided to be idiots and go to the outdoor pools anyway. (Twice! Wtf were we thinking?) The pathways were either slippery with ice or gritty with salt, so the walk (run) from the exit to the pool was torture. The wind was brutal, and the water in our hair froze. It was so damn cold but honestly it was a hilarious experience and we were laughing at ourselves (and others) the entire time. Probably would have died if it weren’t for that little sauna in the middle of the outdoor pools.
Despite (or perhaps because of) the subzero temperatures, it was pretty crowded, probably because it was a Saturday and the beginning of the kids’ midwinter/​Presidents’ Week break. There were some saunas we didn’t get a chance to try because they were full, but we still got to go into 3 of them and laid under the infrared lights after coming out of the cold sauna. I hated the feeling of wearing the same damp uniform over my swimsuit — you get awkward wet spots on your chest and crotch. Idk how they could remedy that though, maybe provide more clean uniforms or something. I regret not bringing my own large towel and skin care items (face wash, moisturizer, etc).
Tbh I wanted to give this place 3.5 (bf gives them a 4) but after all the issues that have come up recently, I decided on 3.

It’s tough to give it much more when on the day you go the place gets shut down by the health department.
Then they will only give you 2 weeks to use refund, yet 4 days later and the pools are still closed.
I really don’t get the ugly shirt and shorts they give you.
Before they got shut down had some lunch upstairs, food tasted good, but not cheap.

More times I visit here, the more I know that I won’t enjoy my next time here. And I’ve been coming here before they built in swimming pools and all that too.
Bottom line: if you want a «spa» themed theme park, come here. If you want any sort of relaxation, go else where (especially on weekends) OR come here during working weekdays before 4pm. Upside? The food here is decent. Service is decent as well. But I don’t think it’s good enough to pay $ 40 or $ 50 of entrance fee just for that…
Watch out for:
1. people taking selfies and pictures in locker room (where you’re probably fully naked, changing into your uniform),
2. people wearing sandals and crocs on the sauna floor,
3. lots of PDAs,
4. chatty and giggling teenagers,
5. half naked people in saunas,
6. obnoxiously loud people in acoustically amazing domes where you can already hear everyone’s whispers from 4 feet away…

I’m not a spa enthusiast by any means, but I heard so much about this place that I decided I was ready to storm the castle, so to speak. Armed with a Groupon in hand and my posse we ventured forth to the Castle!
For starters there is valet parking which is free, just tip the valets when you pick up your car. The place is large, modern and clean. When you check in you pay upfront the admission cost for use of the spa, you are then given a watch to wear which will be your electronic locker key for your shoe and clothes locker downstairs. The key also serves as your ID when you charge for food and services. NOTE 1: Flip flops are not permitted, walk bare feet or purchase a pair of their special slippers, towels, robes, some items are also for rent as well.
NOTE 2: The locker area has a pool section labeled «All Nude area» so If you want to let it all hang out go for it! (Men and Women separately in this area, sorry guys)
After you’re all changed into your personal gear the spa issues you a pair of shorts, T-​shirt and a small towel, the short and shirt are not flattering to say the least, but are required to be worn when you go up the flight of stairs to the common area where men and women sit back and relax. You can purchase meals and drinks here as well. The food is OK, I would recommend eating somewhere else before coming here because the food prices are not cheap. The common area also houses the saunas and provide full body massages and reflexology for a fee.
There are different saunas ranging from the coldest set at 46 degrees F. to the hottest set at 171 degrees F. As I entered the 171 degree heated room and laid on the floor mat my immediate reaction in my mind was «What in the Hell am I doing here!!!» as beads of sweat slowly turned into streams. As I lay there delirious from the heat I can see vultures circling the air waiting to pick on my flesh as I bake myself to oblivion. After my 5 minute session I stood up to be once again struck with the heat enveloping my entire body, science is right, heat does rise!
After coming to my senses I went to a few more saunas and actually started to feel really good. I headed upstairs to the roof top pool spa which also has a bar. Now don’t be fooled, the pool spa is not for swimming. The pool area is heated and has different stations offering varying degrees of water jet pressure directed towards your back, arms, legs and feet. You can feel the tension slowly being «washed» away by the powerful jets. The water is heavily chlorinated and they monitor the chlorine levels pretty carefully.
After a few hours my whole body was super relaxed. I laid motionless in the recliner as I drifted to a light sleep. There is also a designated sleep area if you want to go all out and get some serious shut eye. There are a few massage chairs but they charge you $ 3 for 10 minutes of use, I thought this was a little outrageous but was told if they didn’t charge people, they would never leave the chair, true!
When you check out a screen will display the items charged to your account that day, if you agree to all the charges, pay and you’re done. BTW, they do not accept American Express cards. The people working here were all very nice and cordial. After Spa Castle I was so hungry we went to the other castle, White Castle! :)

Gorgeous venue with atrocious prices. I have an issue with the staff. They’re not very accommodating let alone friendly. As a first timer I expected the staff to explain how Spa Castle works in regards to what goes where and direct me in the right area.
In the locker room you receive uniforms to change into. Uniforms are standard and uncomfortable. Small towels are provided which means you either have to bring your own towel or be subjected to rent a standard sized towel if you forget yours. The barefoot policy is ridiculous. They do this to nickel and dime you for the rental of their slippers.
The food is overpriced and not good. Small portions with an expensive price tag to boot. Drinks are insanely priced as well. A Long Island Iced Tea will run you $ 18. I love my LITS but there’s no way in Hades that I would drop $ 18 on one. Next time I’ll bring my flask.
Saunas are really cool if you can take the heat. The intensity levels vary amongst the rooms. My favorite room is the Ice Land sauna. It’s 50 degrees and the perfect temp for me. This sauna helps the muscles, tendons, bones, nerves and other tissues to recover. The outdoor pools are warm but after awhile the jet streams hurt your body. I preferred the indoor hot whirlpool. The temp was 99 and felt amazing after being outside.
