Elite Event: Monday Meat Up at Danny’s Steakhouse & Oyster Bar

Although there was some mishap due to an unfortunate accident, Monday Meatup was still a great way to kick off the year! Instead of being a standing room only, mingling event, this turned into a more intimate, sit down, four course meal. Even though I only got to briefly chat with folks not at our table, this set up gave me an opportunity to get to know some other Unilocalers a little better.
I thoroughly enjoyed the food that was served — my faves being the Kusshi oyster (super plump and delicious), the mushroom soup with crispy dough and the pork jowl (juicy and tender). Also, loved the crash course on sake and how to drink it, even though we had jumped the gun and had already downed our tasting.
A huge shout out to Jando and team (per usual) and everyone at Danny’s Steakhouse & Oyster Bar for the accommodation despite the turn of events!

Hmm, looks like I had a completely different experience than the rest of the Unilocalers who attended. Although I was surprised at the table seating, I didn’t mind so much because my friends and I were able to sit together (even though we showed up a bit late) and we met new people who we got along really well with.
I get that the restaurant did not expect as many people and they were probably trying their best but our table kept getting forgotten about with every dish during the night. We were in the corner and nicknamed ourselves «Staten Island, the forgotten table». From the beginning when the host started doing the sake and oyster pairing, we didn’t have any oysters and it took forever to get them. Once we did, mine were shucked horribly! Oysters are one of my favorite food so I was very disappointed. Mine had so much broken little shell pieces that I could not properly slurp them. and had to keep picking out shell bits out of my mouth. I also would have liked some mignonette sauce to go with them.
The mushroom soup was my favorite dish — very flavorful though very salty at the end. Again, our table never got them after everyone else started eating. When we told one of the waiters, he just looked at each of us incredulously as if we were lying and hiding the bowls under the table. (This waiter also told us to not take the wine bottles that were surrounding our booth as if he was suspicious that we would steal them.) By the time I got my soup, the pastry puff was deflated. I missed out on the fun part of breaking the puff as it was already soggy from falling into the soup. Also, I had maybe 4 pieces of mushroom in it?
The «primerib» was very fatty as was the pork jowl. Yes, it’s cheek so it should be fatty but it just didn’t do anything for me (nor with the «pairing» of the «salad» with honey mustard. I didn’t have the chicken but heard it was pretty good. It would have been nice if there was bread and butter for the table and a dessert but not a big deal.
I know I should give the service the benefit of the doubt because Unilocal events can be overwhelming with the crowd and it’s free food. One of the waitresses was very friendly and patient and kept apologizing for the wait and doing her best. Props to her. But even if it’s free, it doesn’t excuse the sub-​par quality of the food at this event. I won’t compromise an honest review just because the event was free. Sorry …

For my first Elite event of 2016 was a fancy one, if there is one thing about the Unilocal Elite of Queens is that they are always super Punctual! If event starts at 7:30pm don’t get there at 7:45 because you may not get a seat and this event was no exception. It was crowded in a hurry mostly probably because it had been a good while since the holidays of an event so Unilocalers were hungry! We walked in at 7:35 and it was packed but Mike S came to our rescue and had some room at his table for us
The setting was a bit different than other events, where we mingle by the bar or any designated area but we were told to sit and enjoy the food, drink and pairings which wasn’t bad we just got to talk more to the people at our table. We got to chat with fellow Unilocal elite’s and plus ones. We quickly learned that the event was over booked and the staff was overwhelmed with us and we became the forgotten table, quickly dubbed ourselves the Staten Island table haha. But our waitress later noticed that we were the last to get everything and for the final two dishes were the first so nice comeback on that I commend her!
When everything got set we were first given oyster samples with cocktail sauce, horseradish and lemons. I’m not even a big fan of oysters but Unilocal really brings out the (what the hell its free anyway) in me :-) and funny enough I enjoyed them. They were paired with Sake for which we got a quick presentation on the proper ways of sake and brief history which was cool.
Next on the menu was the Mushroom Soup, wow this was amazing, I’ve never had a soup quite like this with the pastry just baked on top and it was a nice touch and was a great combo with the fresh mushrooms, probably my favorite dish of the night.
The Pork Jowl followed and while didn’t sound like a hit with everyone I thought was pretty good with the honey mustard sauce they put on it was very complimentary. Finally came the grand and much anticipated Prime Rib eye and Chicken. The Prime Rib was awesome especially with the house sauce that gave it a nice zesty flavor along with the super tender beef just perfect. the Chicken well its tastes like chicken haha, it was good but I was still savoring the steak to really pay attention.
Overall another great job by the Unilocal Crew, I heard there was some miscommunication because of in incident with the coordinator hope she makes a full recovery and our prayers are with her and her family. Thank you Danny for having us and we will be coming back for that soup and that Prime Rib!

Happy new year to all my Unilocalie eliters! I was late, sucks for me because I didn’t get a coveted seat in the main dinning room. That’s what happens when you have a job that runs late into the evening :(.
However, I did really enjoy having the large bar area to myself, my plus 1 and other Unilocalers alike. I had fun face timing with those in the main dinning room and seeing play by play what one side of the house was getting over the other. I would say it was comparable since main room got things we didn’t (mushroom soup pastry thing), and we got the coveted lobster bisque. It was delicious! Sorry front room: p We got 1 glass of wine each. At last minute they came around offering a second. Guess their wine stash was also low.
Sorry to hear about the mishap. Hope the promoter gets better soon. However, putting my program manager hat (what I do for a living), where multi million/​billion dollars are at stake, having proper schedules and communication is key. Therefore take my comment with a grain of salt… I think not having told a restaurant 36 hrs into the event the required expectations was very irresponsible on their part. Jando and crew always put on a spot on presentation. I know it takes a lot of hard work and coordination to make each event happen. I appreciate all the small details and flawless factor we are offered. Thank you!!!
Food didn’t wow me besides the lobster bisque. Sitting at the bar I got to experience locals stopping by for dinner. Wasn’t necessarily a good thing. Considering the owner/​manager was giving away several of the dishes that were meant for the Unilocal event to his local patrons. Really?! I mean you already know you didn’t have food enough for everyone and you give it away to others not part of the event? It just didn’t sit well with me, considering there was over 6 or so dishes I saw being given without a care.
The parking lot was small and it took me a good 20 minutes to find parking since the restaurant is located in a residential area.

And the elite 2016 for Queens Borough kick out, and in what way!!!
Although for reasons beyond the staff will, the event had a few small inconveniences, the contact from the restaurant that the Queens Unilocal had a terrible accident (hoping she or he get well soon).
First time in a great while that Queens Borough have a plus one event, the result more of 300 people on the waiting list (that’s insane).
So because the contact did not have a chance to tell the owner, that was going to be stand up event and they were going to be around 90 people, there were a misunderstand, the dinner room was set up for a sit down event and only for 60 people. But as they say a popular saying in my country, the rain doesn’t stopped my party, the team Unilocal and restaurant found a way to make the event come out afloat. There were a couple of people sitting down in the bar, and they start to cook more food for the extra people they were not expecting, although the event had to be a little extended longer than expected it was understandable.
The food:
Oysters: Did not like that much, but thanks Steven to help our table.
Crispy Dough Fresh Mushroom Soup: good taste, bit creamy with I believe it was a hit of lime with not that many mushrooms; the crispy dough went well with it.
Pork Jowls: this was served with salad and honey mustard dressing — these were tender and smoky.
Rib, chicken and mash-​potato: The prime rib was perfectly medium rare for me very juice with a good taste. The chicken you had the option to have breast or leg; I had both of and I was surprised to like the juicy white meat of the breast more than the leg. The mashed potatoes were delicious, but know how can you mess some mash potato.

I had a lovely time during the first Unilocal Queens Elite event of the year. This Elite Event was a bit different from all the others, as this was a sit down affair with the food being served to us. I actually really enjoyed this, as I got to sit at the best table in the room, complete with great company and right by the awesome, rustic, holiday-​decorated fireplace. The sit down format also allowed us to truly appreciate one another’s company more, as we were not focused on grabbing food as it passes by.
I really loved the homey ambiance and cozy atmosphere of the large back room, as well as the very cool light fixture and the colorful and what looked to be hand painted flowers, hearts, swirls on the wood paneling on the ceiling. The dining room had an European feel and exuded a lot of warmth and charm. It was the perfect setting against the cold and windy evening outside.
We were first served two items that I didn’t partake in: Oysters paired with sake. I did appreciate Mr. Sake telling us about sake and how to drink it though. He was very knowledgeable and funny.
Next, we had mushroom soup in a crispy dough that was completely adorable in individual mini bowls and had the look of a pot pie. This was served steaming hot… So hot that it made it difficult to eat the soup at first. But it was so good! The crispy dough was perfectly flaky, fluffy, wonderfully delicious and soup was creamy and flavorful.
After that, we were served appetizer of Kurabota Pork Jowl, which was also very tasty. The meat was crispy, succulent, seasoned well and downright mouthwatering. The salad on the side had strong mustard dressing that tasted too intense though.
Last was a plate of prime ribeye, ABF chicken and mashed potatoes. The steak was way too rare for me, but thankfully a couple of friends at the table had a more cooked version and we were able to trade meats. I thought that the steak was a bit bland. It didn’t have too much flavor and I don’t think it was seasoned with anything. I tried it with Danny’s Steakhouse in house steak sauce, which was decent. The steak sauce had a sweet, maple-​molasses taste to it. The chicken was quite good. It was well seasoned with herbs and incredibly juicy. The mashed potatoes were just okay.
My favorite dishes were definitely the mushroom soup in crispy dough and pork jowl!
The restaurant management and servers did an amazing job feeding all of us and making sure we were all happy (especially since way more people were at this event than originally expected), so thank you to Danny and his team, as well as Jando for helping organize this thoroughly enjoyable event!

First Elite event of the year in Queens, yay. It was great. Thanks to Danny’s Steakhouse for hosting this event.
I used to know this restaurant when it used to be a German restaurant, 5 Corner. It was good to see old friends and make new ones! We were served sake with a lesson about sake, how it’s made, how to taste it, what it is. We had a sample of raw oysters, some mushroom soup with puff pastry on top. I am going to pay for it good later because I have lactose intolerance. Did you ever have pork jowl? My first time at Danny’s! Pork jowl is actually delicious. Maybe they can think of another name other than pork jowl. hahhaa.
For the last sample we had a piece of chicken, some steak and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes is delicious. The mashed potatoes were not too heavy or rich, and it was perfectly seasoned. I didn’t think I could like mashed potatoes that much but I did. The steak was yummy but it could have used just a bit more cook on it. I had pieces that were not even medium rare yet. It was just rare, some of the pieces were even still blue. It was a bit chewy and the fat was still on the white side. Some pieces were fine and I gave them to my boyfriend. He doesn’t like it so rare. I am okay with rare meat but I prefer it closer to medium, just past medium rare a little bit. For me it’s a texture thing. I would have loved a char on the outside of the steak. That is how I like it in general.
All in all it was a fun time had by all. Yay Queens Elite.

My first Elite event for 2016!
This event was held at Danny’s Steakhouse in College Point, Queens.
Yes, there is a real Danny, the owner of the restaurant.
It began with a cheerful greeting for the new year with a lesson on drinking premium sake and pairing of raw oyster.
Second course of mushroom soup with puff pastry on top.
Next I tried pork jowl and a green salad. My first time and pork jowl is delicious.
Last plate was a sampling of chicken, rib-​eye steak and masher potatoes.

My first Elite event since the Summer Stunner in Queens, and I must say that Jando and crew hit it out of the park again. What a fabulous night.
When we walked into Dannys Steakhouse, Jando was there greeting everyone and being the consummate host. I was surprised to see seating, but I was also happy about it since I had been working all day. We opted to sit in a round table in the middle of the room with many other Elites and their plus 1’s. I have since made new friends from my table.
The food was really awesome and it was never ending. Everything from oysters, mushroom soup with puff pastry top, prime rib with some mashed potatoes, pork jowls… oh so good.
There was sake and a lesson in the proper way to drink sake… who knew?! Then the wine came out and someone asked what kind of wine, I said red, but really it was a lovely cabernet and Danny kept the wine flowing for all of the group. The wait staff was super friendly and they were on point with keeping the water glasses full.
Raw oysters — delicious even though I usually eat my oysters fried. There was ketchup, hot sauce and horseradish on the table to accompany the oysters.
Mushroom soup with puff pastry — Hello I could eat this every day. The soup was amazing and that puff pastry was crunchy and buttery.
Pork Jowls served with salad and honey mustard dressing — these were tender and smoky. The honey mustard dressing was really tasty on top of the greens. — These pork jowls could be scary addictive
Prime Rib — Everyone seemed to get different versions of doneness, mine was pink inside and fully cooked outside. Tender, juicy and perfect.
At the end of the event, the room did get to meet the actual owner of Danny’s, Danny himself. We gave Danny and his staff a round of applause for the wonderful event. On the way out we did get to meet the gentleman that gave us the instruction on proper sake drinking. He was so nice and asked that we return to try more sake and food another time.
Thanks again Jando and Danny for the lovely event. It was a great evening of food and making new Unilocal friends! Happy, Healthy and Unilocaly Elite 16 to everyone!

Elites Event are great opportunities to meet new Unilocaler in person and catch up and chill with the ones you already know (The Squad) That’s one the beauty’s on been a Unilocaler!!!
It was a sit down event which it made it more personal. Not the plan but it actually wasn’t bad. My table was snuggled but we were having a blast. My fellow Unilocalers Amy, Linny, Ann, Hernan, Lorraine, Gerardo, Steve The coolest.
Now going to the Food,
The oysters with the Saki where a excellent combination. The Mushroom Soup was delicious, The pork cheek salad (I like to call it like that) was fresh and the sweetness of the pork meat was the touch. The main course made my night, a plate with Ribeye Steak with Mash Potato and Rotisserie Chicken was The Bam of the night. Overall what a way to start a year!!!

Danny’s Steakhouse and Oyster Bar hosted us Unilocalers for an amazing sit down dinner.
The Food was a delicious tasting of their menu: oysters, sake, pork jowl, rib eye and roast chicken!

The Kusshi was a plump, clean-​tasting golf-​ball sized oyster.
The Virginia’s Sewansecott had a larger, flat shell and an amazing briny, sweet flavor.
Montauk Pearl was briny and a great finish for the oyster tasting.
The pork jowl was crispy, fatty and great with the mustardy vinaigrette.
The prime rib was perfectly medium rare for me. Well marbled and perfect with the wine.
I loved seeing so many Unilocal friends, and cozying up by the fire!
Everyone looked great.
I had a wonderful time with my table!
I wish we had more time and more space to catch up with other Unilocalers.
(I was sorry for the later group that didn’t get to sit at the tables, but were accommodated by the bar).
The restaurant looked like a beautiful Swiss lodge.

The wine was rich, mineral-​y red that was perfect with the fatty medium rare rib eye cuts.

Yanno… I was really torn as to how many stars to give this event… and I’m truly leaning on 3.5 — here’s how I chose to distribute my stars:
+ 1 star: I was watching «The Wrong Roomate» on the television (shout out to Amaryllis R. for looking up the name of this piece of cinematic excellence) to the upper left of the bar. It was a LMN (Lifetime Movie Network) movie and they’re my guilty, guilty pleasure. It was really good and kudos to Danny’s Steakhouse for having their closed captioning on :).
+ 1 star: Shoutout to Jamel O. for offering to drive Ingrid and I home after he ran into us at the nearby 7 – 11 while Ingrid and I were in there keeping warm since we had a 15 minute wait for the Q25 bus. Huzzah!
+ The rest: The actual event itself which went from sad/​lackluster to much better in a respectable amount of time.

Here’s the part of my review where I’m a’ gonna’ list out some pros and cons, who0o0o!!!:
CONS:
+ We arrived there about 35 minutes late. The commute wasn’t fun from Madison Square Park in Manhattan and it was also made clear that we shouldn’t worry too much about getting there earlier than the start time (not that we could have even had we want to given the MTA and my work day ending at 6pm-​ish). When we arrived it seemed a tad unorganized and we didn’t have anywhere to sit until Danny’s decided to let us take over the front part.
+ We chose a table that was closest to the kitchen (not intentionally) and most into the restaurant because we figured it would be warm there and because no one was sitting there. Ingrid, Amaryllis and I sat there for quite sometime until we were acknowledged. I did ask about water and got some — I also asked about wine and was told that there were no wine glasses left at the bar because servers took them all to serve wine and distribute. This wasn’t true — Ingrid saw her pull out a wine glass for someone else. Cute.
+ Oysters came out and we were told to not eat them immediately as we were going to have a sake pairing and lesson. At 8:37pm we were notified that they had ran out of sake so we should gobble up our oysters. They were served with lemons and nothing more — we found out through Unilocal event photos that there was a full on menu, seriously yummy looking eats and more booze going on in the back. We lived vicariously through these photos.
+ We watched everyone up front get served whenever things did come up and our table was always last or skipped. When I was alone at the table a glass of wine was placed for my 2 table mates and I was skipped. I had to flag a waiter down and ask for one. Mmmkay. This was for my 1^st glass mind you and I was told later on that it was one per person (thankfully she ended up being wrong — I had 2).
+ The pork jowl was very fatty meat with an interesting texture. But I drowned it in the Danny’s Steakhouse sauce. THIS SAUCE IS VERY MUCH A PRO. We didn’t get to partake in most of the foods in the menu distributed to the back. Steak was cold & meh.

PROS:
+ The front part is much nicer than the back. More intimate and quieter.
+ The Oysters were fantastic! Nicely sized, perfectly shucked and squeezing fresh lemon on the was better than nada.
+ Really appreciate Jando coming over to explain why things were kind of topsy turvy. Communication problems and someone hanging on to their life aren’t things that are planned and no matter how hard you try to plan an event, anything can happen. Sincerely praying that this woman is able to push through and have a full recovery.
+ The back dining room got mushroom soup. I don’t particularly enjoy mushrooms, though the puff pastry on top looked delish. Instead, we got Lobster Bisque. ZOMG I LOOOOVE LOBSTAH!!! This was easily the biggest WIN of the night.
+ The Danny’s Steakhouse sauce. HOLY MOLY MAPLE SYRUPY SEASONED YUMMO EEK!!! I could eat this sauce on aaaaaaanything. ANYTHING. *insert shifty eyes here*.
+ My chicken was pretty good, nicely seasoned, only a tad dry and (unlike Ingrid S.’ piece) completely boneless.
+ DAT LOBSTAH BISQUE DOE!!! (It was so good that it deserves another mention).

I love fireplaces. The only drawback to sitting, despite great conversation and company that provided, was that the fireplace in the room could not be seen in all of its glory.
The oysters were very good and a short sake tutorial taught us how to drink the Sake and pair it with seafood. We learned that it made a particularly strong pairing with the oysters because it could be used to eliminate the after taste of seafood (if any).
The mushroom soup was great and the crispy shell surrounded it like a pot pie. It was really good and served like a comfort food.
I gave my pork away. I also gave my ABF chicken away. They both looked good.
I think a staff and space challenged with an event that was significantly larger than anticipated did a great job. Jando always does a great job.
Fun Fact: Always be nice to Nelson, if he doesn’t think you review enough, his camera has a setting which can add 20 pounds to your pictures!
The steak was cooked to proper temperature and was decent. With the steak sauce on it, it was great. The steak sauce was sweet but pretty good. Without it, I felt the steak was bland but it is possible had it more flavor, the sauce taste would have been affected.

Such a rewarding event with lots and lots of delicious food, tasty drinks, beautiful location, excellent services, and amazing people.
Not the typical Unilocal event I’m used to where you can walk around and mingle with the rest of the Unilocalers and their plus ones.
This was more of a seating/​dinning kinda night.
Nevertheless, I had a lovely time sitting in the bar area with a good amount of folks catching up, watching the game, and enjoying the evening.
Haha! My fellow Unilocalers took breaks from their tables in the dinning area and made their way to the bar. Too cute! We Unilocalers can be daring especially the ones from queens.
Overall, I had a wonderful time with everyone as well as squeezing in a few chats with our waitresses and waiters.
First class treatment for sure!

It was a crazy fun event, despite that I almost died of hunger, literally. But note to self: always eat before an elite event.
Def wanna go back to Danny’s for FULL MENU. I want them clams, yo! (And that steak sauce)!

I first want to start off with saying that I feel really bad giving any Unilocal event 3 stars. Especially, when its partly because of something that couldn’t be avoided with an error in head count and someone on staff is in the hospital. Oy vey. Hope she’s seriously okay. But I feel like the people that showed up late and sat in the separate back room had a completely different dining experience than the other and larger room.
The space is pretty cool. It reminds me of a big German beer hall with Asian influences and that’s also an American steakhouse. We screwed up on our getting on a 7 train a couple of times over and got lost finding the bus but I can’t complain because Steph P. was kind enough to invite me as her plus one. Which we found out later in the night weren’t even originally allowed so this was like a freebie event for some of us!
We arrived at the restaurant and they were kind enough to find us seats in a separate room from everyone else with about close to a dozen other Unilocalers that arrived late. Everything was fine until we were waiting there without drinks or food for close to 45 minutes and then a waiter noticed and plopped down oysters without any explanation and lemon wedges. I think there was sauce for it but I wouldn’t know. We finally asked about the sake and they told us it ran out. Facepalm. Okay, I went up to the bar to ask for water because they wouldn’t give us any and asked about wine and they told me I had to wait for a server. I still thought — okay, he’s gonna come soon! Get excited!
Waits.. .. .. crickets.. .. eats oysters because I’m starving and growing impatient.. .. watches live feed of food going up in the other room in Unilocal pictures. Steph starts eating her fox hat while we watch a bad but awesome Lifetime movie on tv.
It grew better after this point because I may have written a bad tip on the Unilocal page. I felt bad but no one was talking to us and suddenly people were apologizing and I truly appreciated it, which is also why I couldn’t give this a 1 or 2 star review. Instead of the mushroom soup covered with puff pastry we were given lobster bisque. BEST THING OF THE NIGHT. We thought it was mushroom initially but Steph kept eating it while exclaiming «I hate mushrooms, I don’t know what’s happening to me!!» Me: «It’s not mushroom.» Lol.
The pork jowl with a bed of greens with a mustard dressing — Mine was super fatty. It was barely pork, and most of my cut was a large ribbon of fat. At this point our dining companion adjacent of us left because she doesn’t eat oysters, doesn’t really drink wine often and she lived on Long Island.
The main course eventually came and an actual glass of wine! Throws glitter. The wine was excellent. The food not so much but it wasn’t horrible. It was cold. The steak was tough and half of it was fat scrapple. In comparison to other Unilocalers’ food photos I’m envious of their better portions. The chicken was dry (at least my chunk, Steph said hers was okay) and I had tiny bones in mine I could have and almost legit swallowed. The potatoes weren’t bad but we thought they were instant. However, that steak sauce! It was both sweet and tasted like A1 with a hint of honey glazed ham maple syrup. It was so good and I drenched it on everything.
Overall, it wasn’t a bad night. Okay food, a glass or two of wine, good company, the all great and awesome Jando and Nelson, and most importantly while we were trying to stay warm in the 7 – 11 across the street from the bus station fellow Unilocalers offered us a car ride home! You are the best ever!

This place was a scene! When I first heard Steakhouse & Oyster house thoughts of upscale stuffiness came to mind. Upon arrival to the old world german/​european style building with a dining room adorned with red carpet, exposed dark wood beams, white plaster. Then to see the Asian influence of Mr. Sake (What was his name?) giving us an intro to the proper way to taste and pair sake (in a room more appropriate for Beer Steins and large pretzels) along with the fun staff of Alex the self-​proclaimed alcoholic serving up food & drinks while swigging a 21 year old single malt and cracking jokes, as well as another server I was calling Ms. Maspeth who was very kind and fun! Then add in some tasty oysters, pork jowl, chicken for an unexpected, fun-​filled, event that just may make you rethink preconceived notions of a boring and staid steakhouse and oyster bar.
I enjoyed the sake (especially after the tutorial) and the William Hill Cab very much. The different styles of oysters were all tasty and delicious. The pork jowl was very flavorful and tender (I know my fellow Unilocaler, Dick G, who was not present would have flipped his mustache over this!). Trying both breast and leg of the chicken I was surprised to like the juicy white meat of the breast more than the leg.
It would have been nice to have a migonette served with the oysters, but perhaps it would not have paired as well with the sake. My tablemate Lisa E nailed it when she said the choice of honey mustard dressing on the salad served with the pork was a bit of a pedestrian choice. The steak was not my favorite, with some pieces overly fatty. Not a fan of the mostly corn syrup based steak sauce.
I can see other reviews giving less than 5 stars, it’s understandable — there were a few issues of being overbooked, having a sit down instead of standing event (with not enough seats), and a last minute change of time that led to a slow moving event. It was unfortunate some of our party had to be outside the dining room and the inconsistent quality of the plates being served (poor cuts of the meats, no crispy dough on some soups, not enough sake). It was clear everyone at Danny’s was giving their best in the situation.
Also, the issues were communicated clearly and honestly by Jando and the staff — this makes a tremendous difference when you understand the unfortunate incident leading up to this event. Really though, isn’t that what life is all about? Making the best of the circumstances while laughing and enjoying everything as much as possible? I know I walked away with a sense of a lot of style and heart from this place along with the belief that, under the right conditions, the food and service can be top notch across the board!

Yes The EvenT was definitely crowded & Yes it did take some Xtra time 4 some of us to get our food, but whOo cares the Event was Dope! Great times w/​some great Unilocalers full of Laughs & 10 of us stuffed together in a little table (Coolest Table Da Sqaud). It couldn’t of been better, I chatted alway w/​fellow Unilocalers da entire night … (I don’t attend Events, too stuff my Face!!!)
The Mushroom Soup w/​Crispy Dough, Pork Jowl & Ribeye w/​some banging as Mash Potatoes was on Point. The Oysters I had to pass, there was a weird after taste :(.
I want 2 say extra Thank You 2 Jando, Nelson & the Entire Danny’s Steakhouse & Oyster Bar Family, for doing soO much, toO make sure everyone was as comfortable as can be! Doing it BIG 2016 …

What is better than kicking off the new year 2016 with my favorite Unilocalers and favorite CM who puts on best EEs ever?
In an event that has 300+ people on the waiting list, didn’t I cry out loud in joy when I got my fancy party pass!
At this event, we got to sample mushroom soup, ribeye steak, ABF chicken, and kurobata pork jowl. Seriously, I really needed this meat fix.
Love the dining room feel and the staff who worked so hard for the event.
Thanks to Jando for making my first 2016 EE such a memorable night. Now that definitely motivated me to keep reppin’ Unilocal

First elite event of the New Year and I got to embrace all the joy with my favorite peeps (Sophie A. + Steven S. + Hernan B., Amy C. + her mom, Lorraine D., Gerardo A., Linny F., Derrick L., and yours truly) squeezed in one lovely booth with William Hill wine bottles behind us next to the beautiful fireplace such a homey feeling.
We accidentally drank our Sake that was to be pair with the oysters #mybad so we got a round 2 to save it. Steven S. and Sophie A. were showing us how to really eat an oyster. I popped my oyster shooter tonight but still not a fan of rawness.
The Fresh Mushroom Soup with Crispy Dough was sooooo delicious and light. I don’t like mushrooms but I would recommend this soup to anyone. Kurabota Pork Jowl… what a name… it was so tender each bite and the salads dressing tasted like mustard or I may be wrong. The server was nice to bring out another plate of the Ribeye that was slightly less pink for me as I am probably the only one that likes her steak to be well done. I poured some of that Danny’s sauce to go with the Ribeye… oh my, bon appetit woooo lala baby mmmmm «mama like» this Ribeye and I have been waiting to devour you along with thee most delicious, seasoned ABF Chicken. I am happy that I was lucky to get the wing mmmmm.
