When you walk in this place it feels like a dive but don’t let that detour you because this place is worth it. The waitress was friendly, competent, and attentive. The food was also amazing and had a home cook feel. The prices are reasonable. I really enjoyed my experience here and will come again.

Traditional Caribbean dishes and big portions. Sprinkling of some South East Asian dishes as well such as curried chickpeas and spinach. Very extensive menu and spacious dining area. Located in the corner of an almost abandoned strip mall, across from a package store. Very flavorful and a must visit for those stuck in the hotels surrounding ATL.

Wow! Seriously this place was amazing! Not trying to be an ahole but it looks like a dump… didn’t bother me a bit! Go here! I got something I never would have ordered in my life, OXTAILS! The server suggested it so I went for it… It was delicious! I’m here for a week so I plan to be back before I head back to LA

Here is a tip for you. Order your food to go. To go orders move at rational pace. If you sit down, the service is hit or miss. Mostly miss. We will always take to go from now on. Whether the restaurant is empty or full, there is usually only one server but never more than two. Those ladies do the best they can, but they aren’t killing themselves to get what you need. Like a refill or something. Honestly, you’re not there for the service anyway. The food here is excellent. Unless you have someone in your family from the islands and willing to cook for you at your request, then you probably won’t get a better Jamaican food anywhere. I tend to always get the fricaseed chicken and it is incredible. My wife goes with curry goat. I don’t eat goat but she won’t get anything else. Highly recommend!!!

I have been eating from Tropical for over 20 years now. 20 years speaks for itself, huh? The food is good, they give you good portions(I get 2 meals out of it), the prices are reasonable and the customer service is pretty steady. Hubby gets the curried goat while I opt for jerk chicken which is spicy as all get out. I am getting older and I may have to leave their jerk sauce alone but it was a good run… giggles. You WILL have to wait for your food but it’s worth the wait. Friday and Saturdays are hectic; so it’s best to eat in.

Although the service was a little slow, I can see why… this place is one of the best, if not the best Caribbean spot I have been to. The food is authentic and feels like home. I will definitely go back again before I leave.

I love Tropical! I’ve been hooked on the brown stew fish for years. My friend recently raved about the jerk chicken salad, so I tried it. OMG! Delicious!

Read like 4.5 stars Come here. Now. One because the food is redunk. Two ’cause if you are eating in, you will need the time cuz service is sloooooooow. That is not a complaint — We were visiting an old friend and his family, so I did not find the lack of speed disturbing — LOL Was in town 7 days — ate here 4X(woulda done more but the hotel room did not have a microwave). Oxtails and rice, Meat patties, Chicken Roti, Homemade Ginger beer, Redunk. And now I’m hungry.

Tropical Cuisine is one of those off-the-beaten path treasures. Although it’s located near the Atlanta airport, it’s not a place frequented by tourists. The food is served hot and fresh. I ordered the combination platter: curry goat, curry chicken, curry oxtails with collard greens and rice and peas. The platter was huge — easily enough for two people. Of the three entrees, I enjoyed the goat the most. It was tender and flavorful. The chicken was juicy and tasty. The oxtails were a bit salty. I enjoyed the rice and peas, but the greens were a bit too sweet for my taste. I also ordered a drink called sorrel. If you’ve never tried it, do yourself a favor and get some ASAP. It is sweet, ginger goodness.

This is as good as it gets not only in Atlanta but I’d but them up against any restaurant in Miami or NYC for true Jamaican food. The Jerk Chicken, Ox Tails, Roti are all wonderful. I believe they could cook a brick and make it taste good. The staff is always friendly and although I live almost an hour away I good there as often as I can. Whenever I pick up someone from the Airport I make sure its when they’re open. The service staff and counter people are the nicest you will find and they treat everyone just like an old friend. If there is better more authentic Tropical Cuisine in Atlanta I’ve not found it.

Whew wee! I just had a long drawn out conversation about how delicious the OXTAILS are. I am thinking about going back and spending the $ 17 bucks that it cost me. This place has been around for at least I know 25 years. I am sure its longer than that. That speaks volume on the quality and the service if you can maintain business for 25 years. The jerk chicken is also good too. But those oxtails… I will overdraw my account for a bone or two for those puppies. What are you waiting for come on down to get a plate. Its worth it!

This Restaurant is one of the best of 2 Jamaican Restaurant is worth going to in Atlanta. All the Rest of Jamaican Restaurant can not compete with the 2 I’ve Visit Frequently. These Restaurant have Authentic Seasoning of there Dishes. There is no Stepping up of there Seasoning it’s All like you will eat back in Jamaica. Great Job. The other Jamaican Restaurant I will Suggest is Called Nice Mon. Check it out.

3.5 stars. This place narrowly misses the 4th star because the service is epically slow. The entrees I’ve had have been great. The boneless jerk chicken was spicy, flavorful, and tender. The chicken, chickpea, and potato roti was both deliciously full of curry and large enough for two meals. My one wish, other than faster service, would be to have plantains as a side option. Stop here for good food, but don’t plan on getting out in under an hour.

It has been ages since i have been to this location. The food is so much better than the pictures. It’s an absolute must to come here and enjoy a taste of the Caribbean. The food that was ordered was so tender, so moist, so Jamaican. But don’t take my word for it. Come down and visit this place before you fly to Jamaica, and you will find that this good food may be better than what is presented in the island! I’ve been here numerous times and each time equally impressed. Each dish is made to order so plan to be there just over an extended lunch break. And for your beverage, order a Ting! It’s sparkling grapefruit juice and is one of my very favorites. Enjoy your life, eat out more often!!!

Decided to pick up some food from the hotel room from here. Very close to the hotel strip by Atlanta Airport so if you’re on layover you’re in luck! The guys working there were very nice and informative. They gave us a few samples of their drinks without us asking and their homebrewed bevs were delicious! Went with the ginger beer and they did not skim on the ginger. Spicy and rich with flavor. Got an appetizer of fried conch, always a tasty treat. The conch meat is very firm and mild while the batter is a good balance of lightness and flavor. The oxtail was delicious if a little firm. It wasn’t melt in your mouth but in this case it was delicious all the same and I appreciated a little bite to it. Overall a great meal at a great pricepoint. If it were in my town I’d definitely go more often.

The food was good but the service was terrible. The food took forever to come out, waited about 20 min or more for food. We ordered the oxtail and the jerk chicken, both with cabbage and rice. It was good and tasty. After finishing our meals, it took another 20 min for the server to get us our bill. She wouldnt even pay attention to us waving our hand around. When she took our card to process the payment l, it took another 15 min maybe. Service here was terrible.

I happened to try this place when I was in Atlanta recently, and I was craving Caribbean food. I’m from a West Indian background, so I can be pretty picky when it comes to Caribbean cuisine, but I thought this place was pretty good. I tried the roti with curry goat. I thought the flavor of the roti(which was more like dhal puri than roti, at least in my Guyanese estimation) was amazing. The curry goat was not the best I ever had but I thought it was definitely up there with some curries I’ve had in the past. The price was cheap too; I think my whole meal including a soda came under $ 15, and I was quite full. Be warned: the area surrounding the restaurant looks quasi-abandoned. Don’t let that discourage you from going to the restaurant if you are looking for some great Jamaican cuisine!
