Route 1 Shell

Only stop here if you’re running out of gas. Terrible service and the prices are better down the road at WaWa. The expectations of a gas station are pretty simple: reasonably priced gas, easy pay, clean store. This one fails on each one.

Very sketchy. Came here at 11:30 pm on a Thursday — lights were on and clerk was in the store but no customers allowed in. Tells you something! Less than ¼ mile north is a Wawa open 24 hours and tons of people inside.
I used to get gas here on my way to Baltimore but I never will again. If they can’t trust people to come in the store they need to go out of business.

Went to gas up my bike here. The hose at my pump had a huge tear in it, but I didn’t realize this until it was too late — it hadn’t yet been shut down or marked as «out of service».
It spilled gasoline all over my bike, and all over me. I went inside and told the cashier, who couldn’t be bothered to give a shit and refused to give me a refund for the gas that went everywhere but into my tank.
Nope. Nope nope nope.

This is for the gas, not service (which I don’t know about).
Gas is a fairly routine transaction. We all do it a lot. But there are many ways it can be annoying and not customer friendly, most of which are completely avoidable.
First, this Shell had NPR going over its speaker system. I was a little taken back as I have NEVER heard NPR while filling up. That wax nice — i really hate those ad-​news TV things that some Chevron stations have installed.
Next, the pumps had the octane going from lowest to highest, left to right. I really appreciate that – too many stations have the basic gas sandwitched between their two premium blends in a deliberate effort to trick you into selecting the higher priced gas.
This location is right off the beltways outer-​loop. Zip-​zip I was back in my car and on my way home. Easy off, easy on the highway. I had had a rough day and this basic, easy and frustration free transaction was much appreciated.
