What a great old theater! Hope to see more and more concerts and events here. I saw Star Wars there and it was sold out! I have a feeling they will continue to make little tweaks that will make this a Colfax must see attraction.

Old historical theater. Has good music and old movies. Prices are good. It’s great to have it open and the owners have big hearts. Since opening they have showed a variety of great movies. Remember this place is old. Sound system is awesome. No silly adds before the movie. I will keep supporting the best thing in Colfax

The new owner is doing a great job in the re-opening of this historic theatre, and has now begun to show movies on a regular basis. But, as I have noted, he has not set up an ad of any kind to show his new phone # So, until he finds the time to do so, I thought I would help out a bit, by placing the # here 530−346−9900 Good luck Jim – We all thank you for the re-opening

Reopened under new management. They are going to show movies again very soon! Hopefully they will pick all the good critically acclaimed films that don’t get shown at the Regal Cinemas in Auburn, like«Wild» and«Birdman».

I always enjoyed seeing films here, from Teenage Mutant ninja Turtles II” to Star Wars, Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone, and the first of the unfortunate Mummy sequels. Anyplace with a bold marquee is fine by me. This place was top notch and hopefully it will be again someday.

Gary Tomsi passed away unexpectedly on Dec 27th. What happens to the theater at this point is anyone’s guess. posted: On Friday, December 27, 2013, Colfax Theater owner, Gary Tomsic, passed away in his apartment in Colfax. He had been working for the past year on renovating the Colfax Theater in preparation for a grand opening. Gary spent 30 years working as a cameraman for KCRA, channel 3, in Sacramento. He worked with many local television greats, including Bob Wilkins, Harry Martin and Geoff Wong. Below are highlights, from , of Gary’s career: Gary Tomsic began making films while in high school in Sacramento California. Some of his films ran on local NBC television station, KCRA-TV. While attending junior college, Mr. Tomsic was hired by KCRA-TV in the spring of 1968. By the time he was 21, he was the stations commercial cinematographer responsible for all non-news film production. Mr. Tomsic left the station in 1975 to take a position with the Vinnell Corporation and was stationed in Saudi Arabia. He returned to the United States in 1977 and immediately began taking assignment shooting film projects. That eventually lead to creating a production company that produced a wide variety of projects from movies to public service campaigns for the State of California. In 2003 he completed shooting a TV series scheduled for fall 2003 release on The Learning Channel(TLC) called Spymaster. In 2008 he worked for Indigo Films on a project called«42 Ways to Kill Hitler» where he shot high speed film with three separate cameras. This show aired on Thanksgiving weekend 2008 on the National Geographic Channel. Details about the future of the Colfax Theater will be posted here soon.

Hey Gary, what’s going on? The theater was supposed to reopen in October. It’s November! The website you’ve given on your sign doesn’t work anymore either. I’d love to see this historic theater open again.

They need to revamp the place. I wish they had another screen for the town because they only have one movie playing at a time. Concession stand is good(maybe it’s cause I love popcorn!)

The sound and ambiance are great and screen quality is good. Most of the seats are broken. I used to like this theater better than any other, but the last year or so it seems like they almost never get any decent movies. If, apparently by accident, they do happen to get one I want to see it’s gone in a week or less while utter crap that I wouldn’t even watch on video smells the place up for weeks on end. I have essentially given up on the place.

Another historic theater. It’s owned by a young lady who received it from her grandfather. When she received it(a few years ago at age 13 or 14), she was the youngest theater owner in the U.S. Despite all that, the theater continues to show first-run films. I saw the last Lord of the Rings film here and it was fantastic. Nice, large screen and comfy, old-fashioned seating.
