Cold Spring Apothecary

Went here for a massage my wife had given me as a gift for my birthday. She gave me a gift certificate, which I used to pay for my massage. The deep tissue massage I received, from a woman named Laura I believe, was great! Later, when I paid with the gift certificate, the woman asked me for additional money to pay for the tax, which I found strange-wouldn’t that be included in the price of the massage, or at least conveyed to my wife when she purchased this certificate (which it wasn’t)? So I paid the tax, and tipped the masseuse separately. When I called them later the next week, they responded that while the tax is indeed separate from the cost of the massage, she couldn’t say why no one offered to tell my wife that tax was not included in the gift certificate. When I asked the woman why someone would buy a gift certificate for someone to use and then expect them to pay tax on it, she said something about people sometimes use the certificate as a credit, and don’t use it for the service it was originally bought for-​a response that befuddled me. Anyway, while I am sure this business provides wonderful products, I think the manner that they handle gift certificates for services is F**KED up.

I stopped in here last week to get a face mask for my sister and ended up getting one for myself too. I’m constantly searching for all natural products for my oily/​breakout prone skin and their products are the first I’ve been happy with. The girl that helped me knew exactly what to recommend for both me and my sister. I bought a powder that’s both a mask and an exfoliant and I LOVE it, very soothing and gets rid of dead skin at the same time. She gave me a sample of their clarity oil and I had to go back and get a bottle of it. It seemed counterintuitive to use an oil on already oily skin but since I’ve been using it my skin feels great and not oily at all. They gave me a sample of a facial cleanser today that I have yet to try. They also have great candles and other things for around the house.
The one person that left a bad review has never reviewed anything else and says she was treated like a shoplifter, which is definitely on her because there’s been a different girl working every time I’ve gone in and they’ve been nothing but knowledgable and super nice.

My daughter and I visited this beautiful store and she uses and loves the products. We are both professional women. As soon as she picked up a product, the clerk rushed over and literally grabbed it out of her hand and brought it to the register! She treated us like shoplifters.
Iif my daughter didn’t like the products so much, I would have left the store.

Excellent handiwork by both waxer & stylist, They know what they’re doing at this joint. I will most definitely be returning.

I really love this store! Iv been coming here for few times now & usually pick up at least few diff products everytime.
I love all of their room sprays & candles — they last for a very long time.
Their face cleansers are really hreat too all organic!
I wish theres a store like them in nyc.
Also the price is not so high either — very reasonably priced for quality ingredients.

I was gifted a therapeutic salve & a momma-​to-​be tea by a friend. I was instantly obsessed with the pureness, organic and quality of the two products. I am truly excited to explore what else they have in store! It is exciting to know someone has put heart into quality products that make my mind, body and soul feel whole. I can’t wait to come visit the store!

Nice shop and great service. I was given a free sample of face cleanser and I like it enough to go back and buy it. Aside from the skincare there were great smelling candles.

Stopped in today for our first, but not last visit. The shop is just the perfect mix of rustic, and minimal. The vibe is right and the product is insane. What sent me over the top was the service. Helpful like old friends, printing off directions to swimming holes, joking, and enjoying a saturday. A great merchant with a great product. We will be back.

Very beautiful store, very high quality products, could use more of a range of products. Prices were fair for the quality and size. Worth a stop.

I love knowing how natural and animal friendly the ingredients are.
My longitme fav has always been lemon verbena… but now I have had to expand my regimen to some more exotic goodies…

Cute shop and worth a visit if you’re strolling down Main Street. Everything is made on-​site and in small batches.
