History

Established in 1959.

Vermont Trophy & Engraving was purchased by Margi and Steve Swett in 1996 from Roger and Bobbi Merchant. After careers spent in large cities in banking (Steve), credit unions and economic development (Margi), they decided they wanted a change of lifestyle — a slower pace, and to try working together.

Their plan was to buy a value-added business and focus it on the business to business market, by developing long-term partnerships with customers. Vermont Trophy & Engraving set out to offer the finest engraving — some of it with proprietary techniques — using advanced technology handled by a talented, dedicated staff. They have also sought the highest quality and innovative products, insisting on a level of business etiquette which we are distressed to find so rare these days.

Steve and Margi’s daughter Jessie Swett joined the company after graduating from UVM in 2010 and is adding a second generation perspective to the future of the company.

Meet the Business Owner

Margi S.

Business Owner

Margi (Mar-gee) Swett grew up in Columbus Ohio and met her husband Steve in the corporate banking world. She’s been involved in numerous organizations, from running credit unions to Habitat for Humanity in Flint Michigan.

When she and Steve decided they wanted a change they decided to move back to New England where he was from to raise their daughter Jessie. They decided to buy a small business and happened upon Vermont Trophy & Engraving in Colchester Vermont. When purchased it was primarily a retail operation but with so many years under their belts working in corporate finance the couple decided to shift the business focus to what they knew best — developing strong business to business relationships. Vermont Trophy has benefited and thrived since.

Margi is a member of the Colchester Rotary and VTE holds memberships with BBA, LCRCC, the VT Chamber, VMEC and VBSR locally.
