History
Established in 1954.
This vibrant regional art center with over 1200 members was started on Cohasset Common when artists hung their work on clotheslines for the first arts festival. The heart and soul of the founding members of the South Shore Art Center is in the dedicated spirit of the Center’s leaders today. The Center’s mission is: To enrich the communities south of Boston by engaging artists and by fostering an understanding and appreciation of the visual arts through exhibitions and education.
