Very clean and nice place inside with a very friendly staff always willing to help. Great selection of craft beers and wines from everywhere imaginable. Great hours especially around holidays and when you wouldn’t expect liquor stores to be open. Located next to papa Gino’s and in the stop and shop plaza it is very accessible. Will definitely return to A Taste For Wine & Spirits in the future!

Great selection and service, with competitive prices. Well worth the trip and very convenient if you’re at Stop and Shop. The owner obviously takes sincere pride in the store and care of his customers. They often have tastings of beer, wine and other liquors. With now a couple of options(at least 3) in Cohasset, they have competition, and are clearly competitive. Never been disappointed here.

I’m not an expert on wines and love that Bruce(the owner) takes pleasure in educating you even if you are buying in the $ 10 range. He also has wine tastings every Friday which has gotten me to expand my range a bit. Oh, and they carry my favorite beer — Mayflower Porter!

Very unassuming place on the outside but inside I found this store to be surprisingly nice with an owner who is a wonderful walking wealth of wine wisdom. I hadn’t been in this liquor store for a long time. I didn’t realize therefore that the place had new owners until I walked in and saw it all changed up. It used to be a very run-of-the-mill liquor store with primarily tried and true bigger name labels. There are some lovely new racks and shelves showcasing interesting wines. There is also quite an impressive selection of beers. The store is now focusing on smaller labels and with a broader range of choices. I had come in to pick up a couple of bottles of wine for a dinner some of my friends and I are hosting for another friend. Before I knew it, I’d ended up with 6 bottles because the more this oenophile owner and I chatted, the more interested he got me in some things I probably wouldn’t have tried on my own. You do get 10% off on 6 or more bottles. While that’s a most appreciated deduction, the going rate at other shops in the area is15% off, even in smaller stores like this. Not normally one to gravitate to Chardonnays, the owner kindly explained to me that it was too broad of a category for me to dismiss out of hand. I then got a most interesting lesson not only about oaked and unoaked Chardonnays of which I knew something, I learned a lot more about different vintners’ growing styles, geography, and wine bacteria. I’m ready for the exam! I haven’t tried those two Chardonnays yet but I’m looking forward to it and hope with the help I got here, to expand my wine repertoire. It was a pleasant surprise finding that this place can now be more of a wine shopping destination for me despite its being in an otherwise uninspired shopping plaza. But return I will, as I think I’m ready for my next wine lesson. ***This review is dedicated to Unilocal friend, Michele R. whose wonderful Northwest Coast winery reviews have taught me a lot too***.

This place has a decent selection when it comes to beer: a variety of different brews from around the country and world: not as much as some of the Boston places, but good for the South Shore. Furthermore, they’ve got a good selection on wine/other liquor, and the prices seem to be standard. The only issue I had was that the place doesn’t feel like a liquor store. It’s kind of like an overpainted place, and the colors are a little loud for a liquor store. Other than that, it’s a decent place to get brews.
