This is my first hibachi in the area and I must say it is tops!!! The service was great! First time I’ve had broccoli in the veggies. Very nice touch. The food was amazing. I will definitely return

I do appreciate that although they still use a lot of butter they do use less than other hibachi places I’ve been. Our chef must have been new or something, he needed more practice on his flare. I think they should just do away with the«appetizer»(if you can call it that). It’s just 2 more pieces of shrimp or more mushrooms. It’s still a lot of food but less than you get at other hibachis but the price is still the same high price. After dinner we went to the bar and we had to wait quite a long time for a bartender. But our table waiter was very attentive aside from never bringing out one drink that was ordered. I do like the open space in the restaurant.

What kid does not like going to a place like this. But this is not your average Japanese steakhouse. The menu options are greater than most for food to be cooked on the grill. I had never had a rib eye in a Japanese steakhouse so I made sure to order it. It was great. Everyone at the table enjoyed dinner. I am sure that we will be back the next time we are in town.

I recently visited this location with some friends who wanted sushi. I’m not the biggest fan of sushi, but I was pleasantly surprises. I kept it simple with the California roll, and also got the Old Bay roll. Two good choices. The Old Bay roll was amazing!

Review and stars based on taking a group of kids out to dinner. They enjoy it. Nice size portions. Fun atmosphere. Loud! Wouldn’t go without kids. Would be 4 stars but— Make sure to ask waitress to ask you FIRST before offering up stuff to the kids like extra Japanese sodas and desserts. Didn’t want to look like the mean one so didn’t say anything but ended up costing us a lot extra!

This is easily my favorite restaurant in Hunt Valley and definitely my favorite Japanese steakhouse. The staff is amazing and so, so friendly. Any entrée you order(chicken and filet is my go-to) comes with THEMOSTAMAZINGSALAD and soup. The salad… it has to be the ginger dressing. It’s probably what I most look forward to. My boyfriend loves the soup… I believe it is a sort of onion and mushroom based broth. I am not big on mushrooms but it really is good. Light but flavorful. The chefs are talented with their knife skills and make you feel at home. Having the food cooked right in front of you is always an enjoyable and unique experience. The fried rice is amazing, as are the vegetables. Yum Yum Sauce is… well…super yum. The filet is tender and cooked to perfection. The teriyaki chicken is incredible. I really can’t say enough about this place! Check it out if you’re in the area. You won’t regret it.(By the way… The sushi and cocktails are also really top notch)!

Stopped in for a quick bite and decided to sit at the sushi bar. Had some tea and ordered a Crazy Tuna roll along with salmon sashimi. The roll was good, the salmon came out as sushi and not sashimi. The roll was good and the fish was fresh. Their sushi selection isn’t very big. Place is clean and the staff is mostly friendly– not all. Side note, they only do sushi take out.

Sakura was my first hibachi experience. It wasn’t too bad but it wasn’t as entertaining as I thought it might be. The service was pretty good and the food was good but nothing special. I had a chicken and steak combo with fried rice and the shrimp flambé. I thought the salad dressing and steak sauce had an overpowering ginger flavor, but the yum yum sauce was great. The restaurant was very busy when we arrived, but we had made reservations and were seated promptly. Our server took our orders quickly and was great with getting refills and clearing dishes we were finished with. My only complaint is that we were seated at table full of high school girls, even though my group of three are all in our thirties. It’s safe to say that I’ll definitely be back to Sakura, but next time I’m going to try the sushi.

Adequate is the best way to describe the sushi here. As the star’s indicate above, «Meh, I’ve experienced better.» Had the basics, Tuna, Hamachi, Octopus and a California Roll. Had to pay extra for REAL crab. Give it a whirl if you are traveling and want something light.

I have been to a few different hibachi places and they all have been delicious. On Saturday night a few friends and I decided to go to Sakura Japanese steak house. We made reservations so we were seated almost as soon as we got there. If you have ever been to a hibachi grill you know you sit with different people at your table unless you have a large party. There was only three of us so we didn’t get our own table. We were seated at, what felt like the kiddy table. On both sides of us were groups of girls in high school. Made me feel somewhat old but oh well, we had a god time. The service was quick. I ordered a mixed drink, the ex-girlfriend. It was a long island iced tea with a shot of sake. It was good but definitely strong. For dinner I got the steak and chicken teppanyaki, steak medium rare of course. With diner you get a salad, soup and a side, either sautéed mushrooms, some kind of flambé, or chicken livers. I order the mushrooms with mine. The presentation was lacking personality but the food was good. and the yum yum sauce is amazing. I didn’t care for the steak sauce. It had a strong ginger flavor that I think is gross so I put the yum yum sauce on everything. The total bill was average for a hibachi grill. I would go back again and maybe next time try some of the sushi.

This might be the last option on earth to go and eat … food is okay but too expensive and the portion is so little plus servers doesn’t care about the service, refilling drinks, check back on table but just only cares about the tips… i saw one waitress arguing with a gentlemen for not giving her tips the whole time they sit behind that wooden wall playing with their phone do your job and we will pay u good !!

I have been here a few times. Depending on what time you go the wait could be long so it is best to call ahead and make reservations. The service here to me is great, everyone is friendly. The restaurant is always clean with an exception of the bathroom, those need a little more attention more often. The food is good and flavorful the other 3 times I have been but the last time the good was lacking a little flavor. Would I come again of course just hope the food taste a little better

As far as Hibachis go Sakura was good all around. I went there while attending a convention in a nearby hotel, and we were one of the last tables to served prior to closing. Despite that, service was top notch and the staff were fairly attentive(though we definitely needed more refill service). Everything was cooked well, fairly flavorful(though a little heavy handed on the salt) and the chef put on a great show. All in all, no major complaints. It’s not one of the nicer teppanyaki hibachis I’ve been too, but I’d definitely go back if I’m in the area again. Prices are about what you’d expect — about $ 20 a person.

Don’t waste your belly room. Been to multiple other Sakura locations and this one was so disappointing. Chef was not upbeat. No shrimp thrown. No carry out orders allowed! Food was overly greasy and salty. FYI crab on the sushi menu is imitation crab! Server was great which is the only reason we tipped well. Never going back.

Service ok: not bad but not top notch. Waiter was not knowledgeable about menu or ingredients. Food was served without advising that it just came from the oven: result burned roof of my mouth

A group of nine of us stopped in for an anniversary. I have to say none of us were impressed. From the service to the food it was unremarkable, poorly timed meals and average tasting food. The menu is difficult to understand, what you choose and what comes with the meal. There is a separate sushi menu. The service from the sushi chef was extremely slow and the server kept lying and telling us that it was coming. Was it a lack of communication between the staff and the kitchen? Not good. Our chef was arrogant and determined not to pay attention to the females at the table. He was messy, meaning food flew out over onto the eating area and on several of the guests. The food was poorly timed, one of our party ordered sushi and it did not come until everyone was ¾ of the way done eating. Prior to the cooking several of our party asked for hot sauce be added to the meal. The chef snapped back at both women that they have a policy of never putting hot sauce on their grill. There was no need for him to be so flippant. He should have handled it as if we were paying customers. As he cooked his timing of each meal was disjointed. Meaning we each got parts of the meal presented to us and none in a complete and timely manner. He was poor at cooking multiple items at one time. For example, I ordered shrimp, scallops and steak. I got a load of fried rice, then some shrimp, ten minutes later I got the scallops and later the beef. Halfway through I eating I received the vegetables. This chef was annoyed, curt and arrogant with us, especially the women. It was as if he was doing us a favor. He seemed annoyed that we were not impressed with his cooking abilities, which were clanky, noisy and amateurish. None of us were impressed. We told our server this was an anniversary and the menu indicated a free slice of cheesecake for the person celebrating, It was never brought nor were we offered any desert or after dinner coffee. Beverages were slow to be refilled. Our waiter, clearly over worked from an understaffed crew was basically unavailable. The waiter presented the check, open to the person celebrating their anniversary! We complained and wanted the to speak to the manager about the sushi meal taking so long but he was to afraid to come to the table. We made enough noise that he did take of $ 10 off the meal. I don’t know about you but any manager that is afraid to stand behind his food shows me it is a place I don’t want to eat at. Ya know, there is a much better steakhouse down in the Yorktown Shopping Center on Cranbrook Road in Cockeysville. In my opinion this place is to be avoided. You have many other places we can have Japanese food, sushi and steakhouses.

(09/06/2013) We grew up with teppanyaki dinners as spectacle and special treat(prom, birthdays, etc.). The show’s been pretty much the same as far as I can remember: set entire grill on fire, egg flipping, onion volcano, shrimp tossing. Seasonings are basic, salt, pepper, sweetened soy. You can get an entrée mix of proteins(NY strip, filet mignon, chicken shrimp, scallops, lobster) over white or fried rice, with grilled mixed vegetables. Steak was cooked to order appropriately, scallops cooked through(touch overdone), vegetables al dente(a little underdone).
Sakura is a multi-state chain, started in VA spread to MD, NJ and now even the West Coast. The restaurants are shiny and modern with some«Asian» touches. The Hunt Valley location is enormous, overhead must be crazy expensive(and it was half-empty on a Friday night). Our chef’s performance met expectations; service was efficient. All the diners seemed to be well-entertained. We were there to celebrate a birthday(free slice of cheesecake for the birthday boy/girl), as were many other tables apparently. Prices a little steep to make this a mainstay in the usual rotation, but a little spectacle on occasion makes for a pretty good time.

Just recently dined at Sakura and I wasn’t that wild about it. Overall, it is your basic hibachi so I had realistic expectations going in. The hibachi chef we had was very dull and just kept to basics. I wasn’t really looking for the whole song and dance, but being a little more interactive makes it more of an experience. The portions appeared small and what they call an «appetizer» was abysmal. My fiancé received 2 shrimp and I got enough mushroom to eat in two bites. The food was ok, but I’d say locally, Kobe has more and better food for the money. I’d skip this place and either go to Kobe if you were looking for that hibachi table experience. If you just want Chinese food, First Choice is right up the street and has great take-out/delivery for a fraction of the price.

I went with a guy friend, and we had a great time. I was starving when I went and expected to wait a long time for the food, but we waited no more than 10 minutes for the salads and soups to be served. The food was delicious, and the cook gave us both a sufficient amount of food. The staff is friendly, and the service was good. The only disappointing thing was that we expected a sushi bar, but they do not serve sushi at all here. Despite that, I would definitely come back again sometime soon.

My wife and I stopped in here for dinner a few weeks ago. I’ve been to several of these types of restaurants including the big chain. I have to say that this falls far below par. Walking in, the restaurant looks pretty nice and the staff is friendly. We were seated quickly and our drink orders were taken shortly thereafter. As with most restaurants of this type, we were seated with two other parties to fill the table. Our orders were taken quickly and the chef came out in about 10 minutes. The chef obviously was more interested in doing something else since he spent the entire time looking at something on the other side of the restaurant. He was making a mess everywhere and even would up spraying soy sauce on my wife because he was looking somewhere else. He brought out the tray of proteins and the chicken was stacked on the same tray and touching the beef! Seriously?! I like my beef cooked medium-rare to medium. Can’t do that when it’s touched chicken though! I’m not going to spend much time writing more than this. The food was average at best and the gimmicky nonsense was made worse by the total lack of caring by the chef. For less money you could go to the big chain, get better food and have a better show. Honestly, I would just avoid this place.
