History

Established in 1975.

The store was started as a fabric store and over the years fabric for clothing was drastically reduced as demand lessened and quilt fabric was introduced. About 14 years ago a sewing machine line, the Husqvarna Viking machines were introduced. 2 years ago Simplicity Vaccums were intruduced. The store now has over 2,000 bolts of fabric. Mostly 100% cotons with some fleece, and cotton flannel. There are more than 14 sewing machine models to pick from. Service for the Viking machines are done in house by our authorized and factory trained repair tech. The store has a large selection of sewing and embroidery threads, stablizers, notions, books, patterns etc. There are two class rooms and many samples hanging to inspire the consumer. Several times a year nationally know teachers are brought in for special classes in additional to the local teachers. A class schedule full of classes is published about 4 times a year and can be seen on our website, www​.yard​stickny​.com.

Business Owner

Growing up as a youth in 4H, sewing was my passion. I later graduated from college with a home education degree. I started a business at first in my home selling fabrics and teaching classes. When the opportunity came in 1989 to purchase an existing fabric store I made the transition from a small home based business to the current business located in what used to be a car dealer ship with over 5,000 square feet. Continuing education of my customers is still my number one priority.
