Department of State Hospitals-Coalinga

This is a state-​of-​the-​art modern hospital facility located close to both Pleasant Valley State Prison and Avenal State Prison specializing in the treatment of criminal offenders with serious mental health needs. Many of the psychiatric technicians completed their formal education at West Hills Community College in Coalinga. All of the State Hospital Police Officers complete specialized State Hospital training in addition to Peace Officers Safety Training. Psychiatric medical staff and social workers are licensed in their respective fields. Visitors to the facility are advised to review information posted on the California Department of State Hospitals website for rules regarding visitation, packages, and patient contact.
