Old Town Waffles

I’ve been spending the last 9 months traveling for work, between home and the Fresno area. When I first tried Old Town Waffles, it had been a below average experience — there wasn’t a wait time and I saw why. However, the last two visits (Dec. and Jan.) to Old Town Waffles, has been exceptional. Under new management and/​or ownership this restaurant has been turned around. The wait staff is energetic and enthusiastic. The meals (especially the waffles), have been excellent and enjoyable — you should try it for yourself.

I’ve been here a few times and it has been good but today was a different story. We came in for breakfast and waited over 50 minutes for our food. And asked a few times where our food was and was told it was coming. Finally when it came out it wasn’t hot. We were disappointed because we liked coming here for breakfast.

This was the first and the LAST time I come to eat here… Don’t get me wrong the service was great, but if you enjoy to have roaches crawling on you then this is the place for you. I do not recommend this place to anybody.

Ok I go here just about every weekend. I love the waitress Honey Bunny and Alma are always my favorites. I love the Veggie Omelet, there Salsa is very good, if you like gravy Maria has the best gravy ever, Country fried steak is amazing. there skillets are very good. This place is hopping every Saturday and Sunday… so you might have to wait… but the food is well worth it. And if your a Senior the proportions are good… you will not go home hungry for sure. Keep up the good work Maria…

Service is always timely, staff is very nice and always working. Food is always the same, good and hot. Quickly has become our go to breakfast place.

Berry medley waffle was delicious! It’s an old establishment, but you can tell everyone in there has been there before. The staff recognized multiple parties that came in which was a nice family feeling. Our waitress was very nice, called my boyfriend honey bun Lol. Reasonably priced.
We only went there because my car was being worked on at the Firestone down the street, but it was a good time killer. But might go again if I’m in that area around breakfast time. Not far from old town Clovis so you can walk off your meal while antique shopping.

This place sucks! They no longer take the community card but they won’t tell you until you go to pay for your meal and don’t get the discount you expect. They are very unprofessional. My waitress saw my community cards on the table but failed to tell me they do not take them anymore and told me I can use them at the register. These people didn’t care that they screwed up on their part and said they could only give a ten percent discount which only took two
dollars off leaving me with a 48 dollar bill so fuck you old town waffle! Don’t eat here the food isn’t even that good! Just to prove these people suck one of the owners Alma G. messaged me and called me «cheap» sorry I’m not gonna spend almost 50 dollars on shitty food!

The barnyard shopping center is a staple on Clovis avenue and I’m glad to see two strong anchor tenants in the highly visible front spaces.
Stick to the waffles! If the only thing in this review was waffles they would’ve gotten 4 stars. My waffle was a solid 4 star waffle. It was fluffy and tasty. They offered several types of waffle fillings, flavors and toppings for your waffles. The only style of waffle offered is Belgian waffle. This restaurant should in no way be confused with the Waffle House!
The Old Town Waffle Shop signage boasts that they are under new ownership. We stopped in on Sunday for brunch. While we were not blown away, we did enjoy our meal. It’s an older establishment that has changed hands several times. The interior is showing its age, but seems to be in relatively good repair.
Besides our delicious waffles we ordered other food items and were underwhelmed. Eggs Benedict decent, hash-​browns flavorless, bacon high quality and cooked well, eggs decent, fruit cup flavorless, and kids menu is a little to be desired. My daughter was served a giant grilled cheese sandwich on a hot plate and the same cup of fruit salad that was on my husbands plate.
So stick to the waffles at this place and you’ll be happy. Oh and skip the coffee because the iced tea is much better!
Oh and our service was superb!

Ordered chicken fried steak with eggs… Food was good steak was good gravy good eggs good and fruit good, toast came out moldy but the waitress was just as shocked as me and took care of it lightning speed. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Drinks come in mason jars #cool. Chairs are very comfy.

I ordered a peanut butter and banana waffle. Call it a Saturday splurge. It arrived with barely any Pb. I asked for more. They gave me more. For $ 1. For about a tablespoon. Plus, there were flies that wouldn’t leave us alone and now I’m running to the bathroom. Maybe there’s a reason there wasn’t a wait for a table. Now I know.

I went in on a Sunday morning and it was busy however my wait time was no more than 10 minutes. It took a while before the food came out but it was worth the wait. Waffles are so fluffy and crunchy. Omelette was ok. They also keep a little trivia booklet on each tables to entertain yourself and your guests while you’re waiting. Staff was super friendly and the restaurant was clean. Price for breakfast was around $ 25 for two. I’ll be returning within the next few months.

Ok folks, I am normally a fairly patient guy however the limits were tested today. I get as well that everyone and their «mother» would be out today too. When the restaurant has what looks to be two folks in the kitchen over the griddles and dining room packed you might have a problem. The server/​wait staff could not even seem to get the silverware count right. Food came out of the kitchen in waves. Overall I would not recommend this place period.

The best things here is the so email steak and eggs for $ 7.99. Not exactly the best steak but for the price, it’s worth it.

Had a chance to try this place for breakfast today. It was really good I had the breakfast quesadilla with avocado and salsa which was yummy. My husband had the strawberry waffle which I got a bite of and it was extremely good. My daughter got the steak and eggs she said she liked. we have been to many places in the area looking for a breakfast place. We will definitely go back to this place.

Worst service ever! Seated ourselves. Waited 10 minutes for a menu. Waitress gave menus to two other couples that came in after us. Saw our waitress twice. Food was just ok. Waited another 10 mins to pay at the counter while the other waitress chatted with another table. I hardly ever leave bad reviews. It takes a lot for me complain about a business.

I have been here 3 or 4 times, everybody is super nice, they are fast, and the food is good. The prices are very reasonable. Typical old school place with breakfast and diner type food. But good nonetheless.

Love this place it’s cheap, great food amazing staff very welcoming and makes you feel at home. Just had a patty melt with chicken tortilla soup. Nothing fancy about it simple but amazing. Alma is such an amazing lady she does a great job with the place! Keep it up!

Waiting for the food to come out was a little while but nothing too painful if you are with someone to talk to! Love the mason jar cups! Waffles were a little pricey but good, maybe overcooked by 30 seconds!
Overall will return just going to expect to spend more than led on at first!

I used to love coming here, good service and good food, there was this waitress who was very sweet and very caring and she called everyone «honey bunny». She made the experience coming to the old town waffle an even better place. However on my most recent visit this place is an utter disappointment.
I came in and was greeted by this young waitress and I was sat down on the booth area behind the kitchen. After that the waitress who sat us down gave us the menu, she did not even ask if she could us get drinks, normally at other breakfast places, this would be the first thing any waitress would have done. I should have known this was a bad sign.
Things got worse from then on. We waited 10 minutes before we were greeted by our waitress again. She did not even apologize for the delay and went right away to say good morning and asked for drinks, I mean we acted cool, but we were not cool of course. We were hungry and we had to wait 10 minutes just to be served. After we placed our order, it took them 20 minutes to bring the food out, which is very long for a breakfast place. Did they bring the both plates for me and my guest together? NO, it came 10 minutes delay in between each other, which is an utter inconvenience, because right now my guest finished first and I was still waiting hungrily for my food.
The reason I gave this place 1 star is not only because of the bad service and the old and dingy looking place. But the food itself was not good. My plate was very messy and not very appetizing in its look, I ordered the huevos rancheros by the way, and my friend ordered the omelet with some green sauce from the Mexican menu. Man both food was bad. The omelet with the green sauce was too sour and did not go, while the huevos rancheros beans was just watery and everything else on the plate was messy,
With really bad and slow service, dingy looking décor and not to talk about food, this place is a place sadly I would avoid.

The BEST breakfast in Clovis! Ignore any reviews older than 2013. I’ve been coming here for 9 months now since my friends introduced me to this place. Eggs over medium are always perfect, big portions, and the hearty wheat toast is sooo good! I guess there’s a new owner who revamped the place? It’s also always quick to get seated when I go, and they’ve always given me great service. Someone is always refilling my coffee or water without me even having to ask! If you’re looking for a fancy brunch, take your snotty nose elsewhere. The vibe in here is perfect Old Town Clovis. I come in on the weekdays and weekends and each time the food AND service are both good!
